The Henry Street Ale House is the home of celebrating great microbrews. It's here in this neighborhood spot that we've curated an exquisite selection of 16 great microbrews, complemented by warm wooden walls and cozy furniture. In this classic pub, you can expect the food to match up to the quality of the ale, we've spent years perfecting the perfect atmosphere for our community. "Feast on any of the 16 great microbrews on tap at this lovely old-fashioned Brooklyn Heights pub. The accompanying comfy dark wood furniture, red walls, and comfort food keep things cozy. It's one of the best bars in the city for the discerning beer drinker who knows her IPA from her porter." -The Village Voice "Maroon stamped tin-walls and antique belt-driven ceiling fans lend speakeasy charm to this classic pub. And the eclectic keg and kitchen picks -- a Stone IPA with a half-pound, char-grilled cheeseburger or a pint of Old Speckled Hen with a plate of warmed brie, sliced apples and fried pickles -- far outshines the usual Yuengling-and-wings standard. Two discreet (and volume-free) TV screens keep sports-fans happy, while subdued lighting and a cozy aural buzz reward intrepid bridge crossers. For grown-ups and those who love them, Henry Street Ale House is indispensable -- especially since everything's priced like it's 1985. With its 16 drafts, quality food and a civil, old world atmosphere, this place is what many Manhattan's microbrew taverns aspire to be." -The New York Magazine

Great bar in Brooklyn Heights with a nice selection of beers on tap and other drinks. They were willing to change the TV channel to the sports game I wanted to watch, and when I accidentally left my purse there, one of the staff members ran after me to give it back! So kind of them.

Very cool, older bar off the beaten path in Brooklyn. Not a lot of other bars in this area. Came in early Saturday afternoon, and it was not crowded at all, just a couple of guys having lunch. The food looked good. We were just there to get out of the cold and have a couple of beers. No frills here. Very casual, laid-back setting. One guy behind the bar. Looked like the owner. My son and I had the outstanding Brooklyn Lager. My wife had an old fashion. She said it was very good. Great hole in the wall experience. Food reviews look pretty good. Would definitely like to come back here on a future visit.

Stopped in here after walking the Brooklyn Bridge. A little off the beaten path but certainly felt like a locals only place.
Asked for the juiciest IPA and got the Industrial Arts craft pour. It was great on a Saturday afternoon.
They had the game going on the back. The vibes were nice and relaxing. No frills.
Our server looked like the owner. He was nice and friendly, and did not pressure us to hurry up and go. The food smelled amazing and fish & chips smelled great. Will have to try next time in Brooklyn.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jul 9, 2023
Needed to use the restroom, so I popped into Henry Street Ale House. They had two gender neutral restrooms of I recall correctly. Picked up a pint of Finback's Crispy Morning before hitting the road. I liked this take on their classic Pilsner. Will definitely reach for it again if I see it around. Service was quick and friendly.

hmmm so i tried henry street ale house on two separate occasions. the first time was a male bartender and he was great! we ordered a few rum and cokes, a margarita, and a long island. you can tell he was an experienced bartender. he perfected those drinks. i told myself i had to come back: a plus that the ambiance was very low key.
fast forward to today, our experience wasn't as great. this time i started with a long island. the bartender seemed to fumble with my drink a bit. she also kept complaining about how busy it was which is understandable, it was def crowded. when i took a sip of my drink, wow. so bad. i hate to be the person who returns a drink. i tried so hard to like it but it was so off. i eventually just asked another bartender if she can remake it. our original bartender comes back and mentions that they never make long islands (yet i ordered one my previous visit no problem). so instead, i opt for a rum and coke. she mentions in a condescending tone that i "lucked out" because long islands are very expensive and rum and cokes aren't. uhm ... sure? i mean it wouldn't have been a problem if you made it correctly but go off? lol!
i ordered one more rum and coke and asked for the check. i most likely wont be back. the food def looked good tho, i wish i tried it before i wrote them off.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 1 - Aug 21, 2021
Ordered: Fish & Chips (please see photo)
Price: $17
This is the best Fish & Chips in Brooklyn Heights that I know of. It's quite pricey but certainly some good Cod over fries. It comes with vinegar, lemon halves and some mayo-based sauce. The portions are decent. There are 3 fried cod. The fries are tasty.Helpful 7Thanks 0Love this 5Oh no 0 - Aug 14, 2022
Due to my boyfriend's love of fries, I decided to bring him here after discovering this restaurant through a friend. It also wasn't worth it. Not just him, but I also find their spice and flavor to be strange. The added sauce didn't go well with the tasteless and mushy fries.
I also purchased the buffalo wings, which are utterly tough. It was CHEWY MEAT. We don't want to waste food. Therefore my partner only managed to do so out of respect for me ( and just not to throw it). You could, in all honesty, make nicer fries at home. I really wanted to enjoy it, but I can't.
The star was being served. Just good; not outstanding. At least the cashier's employee was friendly. won't be returning.Helpful 1Thanks 1Love this 0Oh no 0 - 72228238Jul 5, 2022
So I'm on my way home after the gym and decide to go over the Brooklyn Bridge.
Once over the River I take a detour to Brooklyn Heights. Looking around the old neighborhood.
I pass by this place and luckily find a treasured spot So I decide to park and go in for early dinner.
Outside I meet Minnow a beautiful dog. A Wirehaired Pointing Griffon, a striking animal with light brown eyes that match her mane. The rest of her body is Sandy haired black and light grey. We hit it right off and I offer to buy her a martini, but her owner says she already had her limit! Ha
Once inside I order a glass of pino noir. Which the waiter Eugene says is his favorite
Peter the bartender comes over with the wine and I order the roast beef sandwich with caramelized onions and mushrooms. I also get a side order of French fries. It comes quickly and looks delicious.
I dig in. It's great!
Eugene is very attentive, coming over asking if I need anything. No all is great
Wine. Good roast beef in a rather cool venue.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Steve P.Queens, NY1709510Feb 15, 2023
I kinda like this place. I've always found the bartenders friendly and generous. The place has a really cool old style decor and ambience. One of the bartenders is on the surly side, but I find that kinda fun. I've not eaten the food, but whenever I've been here, the aroma is pretty inviting.
There are an ample supply of regulars, which really emphasizes the neighborhood feel. The best part is that they have a decent lineup of rotating taps, heavy on the local offerings.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 1805932212Dec 20, 2021
Stopped by over the weekend and had an okay experience. It was around 7pm and the kitchen was already closed. I don't remember if the waiter said something was wrong but it was unfortunate. The staff allowed you to bring food from elsewhere inside though.
The service was extremely slow (wasn't busy) and the waiter was very confused about our simple drink orders. First drink was made wrong but I still finished and when I asked for a second round I reminded him what the order was and it still came out wrong.
Very convenient location and wouldn't hurt to stop here for quick drinks, but unfortunately I will skip out on this next time.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0
