Alex, our server, is off to college in two days, but she did an excellent job and will be a huge loss for Heller's. Fair winds and following seas Alex!
The place is obviously dated, mostly the carpets and table tops which need updating, badly. The outside is nondescript and you would hardly know this place exists if driving by, sitting back off the street in a corner with hardly any noticeable signage. They also have no website, a non-starter in today's competitive restaurant market, but they do have a Facebook page which can be a nice addition, but it is not an alternative. If they hope to flourish, some changes are definitely in order.
The food has received mixed reviews on Yelp, so we kept an open mind, stopping in after a long day unpacking our household goods just 10 minutes away. My wife had the Patty Melt ($9.95), a good value with a juicy burger with gooey cheese and grilled onions accompanied by a nice portion of hot, crispy fries. The only thing missing was the rye bread, but it was good nonetheless. I had the Prime Rib Special (Friday and Saturday nights only - $19.95/8 oz and $22.95/12 oz). We arrived rather late (8:45PM) and the meat had obviously been resting in au jus because the char on the meat was non-existent, but the portion was big, the flavor spot-on, and the cut slightly marbled, but not so much so that there was much waste at all. It came with soup, clam chowder with a strange consistency, but tasty, a salad, potatoes (mashed, baked, or fries - I had the mashed) and Texas toasted bread. I had the 8 ounce cut and for $20, I have to say, that the dinner was an excellent value.
Add two IPAs at $5 a pop and we had a good meal for $52, including tax and a 20%+ tip for Alex which should pay for about three gallons of gas for her trip to school up north.

Our favorite go to place! Where else can you go and get wonderful cup of soup a mixed green salad with homemade dressing a fresh baked slice of grilled bread and your choice of dinner items prime rib, baby back ribs, steak, chicken if you prefer a Ruben or French dip it is here also. No they don't have a website but they have plenty of request customers!
We have eaten here for years and will continue to support this great local place!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - George H.Vancouver, WA48Mar 17, 2018
The restaurant was clean and the staff was friendly. The atmosphere is inviting and comfortable. The menu is pretty typical diner type food that everyone will find something to enjoy on. The prices are very reasonable.
The Rueben has good proportions of sauerkraut and meat, and the patty melt was very good with the grilled onions. The chili has good flavor and everything was served quite quickly.
Overall this is a really good place for lunchHelpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Joe G.Seattle, WA05Aug 20, 2018
I ate there in July and paid for my meal with a credit card. When my credit card statement arrived Heller's had charged me $4 more than what I authorized. I left a tip at the table, so I didn't put one on the card. Maybe someone else added a tip? Or maybe it was just a mistake. After all it can be really hard to distinguish a 4 from an 8. Grumble.

The food was decent.
We came in late and it was obvious that the server was angry. She didn't want us to be there. I have never received service this bad in my life. Everytime she brought us food my family sad thank you and she not once said you're welcome. Not a smile the whole dinner not once. She was mad and would literally slam our dishes down. I ordered gravy and she asked what kind brown or white and I said what is white gravy and she said "white gravy" Oh well that cleared that up. I made sure I told her that we were sorry that we inconvenienced her and she said "that is ok." What in the world? Anyway, the restaurant is old and outdated and I wouldn't go back. Scared of eating there after seeing the filth and the stinch of cigarettes.
Needless to say our waitress did not get a tip which I have never done to any other waitress ever.
I will never go back and regret the fact we did. Me and my family had not been out to dinner for months and were excited to be together. Her attitude ruined our night.
If I could I would give no stars but I had to to get on here.
We asked if they had wifi. She said no yet when we walked in everyone was on their phones.
She never even gave us her name so we don't even know who she was.
We asked for a refill on our soda and she said they broke down the machine and we couldn't get one...it was HORRIBLEHelpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Zachary C.Walnut Creek, CA0291Jul 9, 2017
Old building, smells like old cigarettes when you first walk in. BUT the service was great and good diner food. Not fancy, but good. I would eat there again.

Heller's is awesome. It is the place to go for great value -- you get plenty of well prepared food for a very, very reasonable price.
They make their own dressings and sauces (I love the honey mustard and the BBQ sauce). Their homemade soups are amazing. With a dinner, you get salad, AND soup, and dinner. No pesky decisions needed between the soup or salad here!Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Mike H.White Salmon, WA4923Nov 5, 2015
NO. No. No. How is this place still open??? $50 for 2 adult one child Cafeteria food dinners. Not like my mom's kitchen. Fish tasted frozen and of stale grease came with an orange no lemmon. Chicken Fried steak needed a steak knife to cut it then had no flavor; the powder gravy come on??? Stale croutons on the house salads! The soup was like wedding sausage mixed with last weeks potato??? I took one for the team this time heed my warning unless you're after a $25 stake dinner head elsewhere!

My husband and I are new to the area and trying all the local eateries. We thought this would be a great place to get acquainted with since it's walking distance from our home. We went in and felt transported to the 70's and not in a good way. But we thought what lacked in decor may not translate in the food. We both had burgers. I had the chili burger. What a shock it was to have tasteless beans poured over my burger which clearly sat over the flame too long. It was so dry and flavorless. I don't know how this place has received so many good reviews. We left feeling robbed. We paid over $25 for 2 burgers, one with cold fries the other with a bag of 25 cent chips from costco and 2 sodas. We still tipped out waitress who only checked on us once. What's really ok is that now we know and we won't be going back.

We were here a couple months ago and I forgot to post updated review. It was rather disappointing...not sure what has happened. Food was warm, not hot. So sad to see this place go down hill.

Its a seat yourself, relaxed atmosphere. I ordered the french dip and fries, hubby got chili burger with tots. Bread on mine was awesome! So soft, flaky and fresh!! This was one of the best french dips I think I have ever had. I have had bad ones lol!! Hubby said his was very good too. My fries were so very good too. Crispy on the outside soft on the inside, PERFECTLY cooked. I have been here a lot over the course of 20 years and they have always been really great place for great food. Thank God for yelp lol, because now I can spread the word!! They are truly our hidden gem in this neck of the woods. Lunch in under the $10 mark, but dinner is next price range level of $11 to $30. Friday and Saturdays nights they have Prime Rib dinners. We are going there for sure tomorrow night! Our server was just a rock star, loved her! Couple other ladies working to, all super nice...we left with a big smile on our face and full, happy tummies!!! Thank you Hellers!!!!!!!!!!!!
