We booked this awesome hotel on http://priceline.com first off. I knew what hotel I was getting thanks to http://biddingfortrave.... It was a steal at $75/night. The parking is $15/day in-&-out all you please. So the total with parking and room was $90/night...hard to beat.
The part about the hotel I like was that it was in close proximity to almost anything you'd want to do. Ala Moana is down the street a 5 min walk & the heart of Waikiki is a 10 min walk through a beautiful park. Every room here is ocean view so you need not worry about getting stuck looking at the roof or something. I suppose the 5th floor rooms that are literally right off the pool would kinda stink though. We checked in late and were given the 11th floor.
This hotel does cater heavily to the non-english speaking Asian market (just an FYI). No worries there though - everyone is on vacation and super nice.
I'd recommend this place to anyone. The bathroom was huge and the beds were perfect. You can even open the windows completely so you can hear the roar of the surf outside...no screen though...not to worry since there aren't any pesky bugs here!
This was the first really nice hotel I'd ever stayed at at the time. It was 5 years ago when my big sis got married.
We had a huge bay window that overlooked the docks. Every morning I'd wake up to a gorgeous sunrise. It kind of reminded me of the opening shot for Gilligan's Island! LOL!
Also, it was close to Ala Moana Shopping Center! I know Hawaii is beautiful and all, but I prefer shopping over soaking in the sun.
The only thing I regret is that I was such a cheapskate before, so I didn't really buy anything except a few little magnets and a (yes, as in one) can of macadamia nuts for friends/co-workers.
Hopefully someday I'll return and do some real damage!

Just stayed here for my mini honeymoon.
Great views! And loved the pool b/c it was never crowded like other top notch hotels.
Beware: Room 2002 has a noisy air conditioner. So we switched rooms.
I'd recommend this hotel for those who want to be close to the mall and away from the strip where all the tourists are.

This is a must if you're a mall shopper, golfer, owns a boat and an avid walker.
It is far from the Waikiki beach strip. So plan accordingly. They do have their pink shuttle bus- you can't miss them as it only have three stops within the Waikiki area ( Niketown, Duty Free Store, and the Duke statue) and it stops by 10pm.
Mall shoppers will have to walk by two blocks. Cross the bridge and you're at Ala Moana Center. Great yeah? It is and it could be if the stores they have are not found in your city. But what is not found online nowadays, right? There's still some, specially food.
The hotel have it's own golf course somewhere. You have to coordinate with the concierge ofcourse. Not sure how much it is as it wasn't part of my itinerary.
Look by the ocean front and you'll see the Marina. The room in which I was booked at. The view is awesome. I strongly suggest doing it with a margarita.
The room itself is fairly clean though it remind me of my gramps room. The bathroom is somewhat outdated. It could be the tiles' colors (dark beige, almost mocha but lighter). It reminded me of the 80's as they use old school Neutrogena products (shampoo, conditioner, body wash, body lotion).
I miss and love the scent.
The staff is somewhat apologetic for not having the shuttle bus service on schedule or if it has been cancelled after 9PM. I was waiting for an hour and to no avail, I have to walk back. It was a good walk.
If your business is just to sleep in and step out, then this is your hotel. If it is to lounge and appreciate the beach, then look somewhere.

My husband and I stayed at the Hawaii Prince on the first stretch of our honeymoon.
First when you arrive they hand you steamy hot towels to freshen up.
We got our room which was way at the top with excellent views.
Part of our package included room service, which we got the first morning. It was fast, and the food was great, check the pictures. I really enjoyed room service.
The hotel's buffet restaurant also had very good food, hot and fresh and excellent views of the ocean.
The hotel was located at the beginning of the waikiki strip but I would still say it was in great proximity to everything. We walked several times to the Ala Moana center (mall) so many stores. There's an ABC store (drug store) located right across the street, perfect for emergencies, and the bus stop is a couple of steps away from the front of the hotel.
We really took advantage of the bus. As long as you stay within the waikiki stirp it's free, which really benefited us since we came back and forth a lot.
Many people told me not to stay here because the canal was close and they said it would smell, but I never smelled it and personally enjoyed the views of the marina.
On one of the nights of our stay they had a movie night outside in the pool area, they played monster's inc. The hubby and I decided to stay in that night and it turned out to be a lot of fun, swimming and a movie!
This hotel was a great value and very impressive. We'll definitely be back.

The Hawaii Prince Hotel offers a great location and a quality product if you need a bed to stay in while on Oahu. The hotel is conveniently located near the Ala Moana Center and fairly close to the central heart of Waikiki.
The rooms are on the smaller side, however all offer great ocean views. Wired internet service available for a daily fee, however no wi-fi? For the business traveler in me, I want that!
The pool and the hotel in general is on the smaller side. You don't stay at this hotel for the resort feel, you stay here for a bed and to visit all of the sights that the island offers!

I stayed here a few years ago, but I do remember my visit very well and still consider it to be one of the better places I've stayed in Waikiki.
Not sure if they still do this, but upon check in each of my family members were greeted and given a warm and refreshing towel. Maybe I was just overly gross from the weather outside, but that towel felt magical.
What I love about the Prince is that each room has an ocean view. How awesome is that? My family and I stayed in the prince suite, which had amazing views of the harbor and ocean. Our room was very spacious, clean, and well kept.
The location is ideal for someone who wants to feel more tucked away from all the touristy bustle of Waikiki. You're close enough, but if you don't feel like stepping outside and getting trampled by a group of Japanese sightseers, this is a great option. It's also conveniently located right near Ala Moana Shopping Center and beach.
I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a nice and relaxing stay.

Hawaii Prince is our home away from home on Oahu. Besides being actually AT home, we like feeling we're on a real vacay. KWIM?
Nothing beats the location. Ala Moana is across the street and Ala Moana beach is almost adjacent to the hotel. Today the weather cleared, so we just put on our running shoes and ran around Magic Island. You can't beat that workout! In the opposite direction is Waikiki, which we walked to at night. It is very touristy, but with all the new development you'll have to check it out and see if you like it for yourself. (Red Mango is there!) To the East, you'll go past Ala Moana and onto Keaamoku St. which is like a mini Korea town.
Amenities. No WiFi, but internet connection at $11.95/day, which isn't bad compared to other hotels. The fitness center has a few cardio machines and the adjacent room dedicated to weights, but it's all you really need. Plus, it's open 24 hours. (You can also run to the 24 Hours in Waikiki) The pool isn't big, but it has a great view of the harbor. (I stuck out my head and looked down at the pool, very scary!) I like that the bathroom has a separate tub/shower/toilet area.
Sitting here, doing some studying, while I have a gorgeous view of the yachts, glistening waters, and sunlight warming my body through the open window, I wouldn't want to be anywhere else in the world right now.
My only complaint would be the chairs/blankets are a little dated. I do highly recommend their breakfast buffet.

Having been to Honolulu countless times, and not looking for the "touristy, first-time in Hawaii, Waikiki experience," this hotel is awesome! It's sort of like a home-away from home for me. It's location is great - if you need to zip around town for business; you avoid the whole traffic snarl that is Waikiki (Ala Moana Blvd. / Kuhio Ave.), etc. It's a stone's throw from Ala Moana Center. And yet, venturing into Waikiki is just as easy.
All rooms face the ocean (awesome sunsets views!) and is more than roomy. It is very urban - no balconies. Reviewers that have mentioned how "small" the rooms are have not been to NYC. The bathrooms are roomy; a plus for women! There is also, in my opinion, a feeling of privacy with the Hawaii Prince Hotel. The main entrance is behind the main roadway (Ala Moana Blvd.), towards the harbor. It feels "tucked away" yet close to everything, like venturing into Waikiki & the night life.
This is a tried & true hotel for me when I have business to do, or want to avoid the congestion/noise of Waikiki. Otherwise, if in Honolulu to totally "vacay" and escape, it's the Kahala for me. If in Honolulu to also "party", the W Hotel is another choice. It all matters what you're looking for in a hotel on a particular trip.

Our first time, coming to this place for dinner we order the 4 or 5 course meal! It was good for the price you're paying and service was great! You must try this place:)

This is a great hotel overlooking the Ala Wai Harbor and Ala Moana Bowls. Every room has an ocean view and the pool is pretty cool. I've stayed here many times and have been consistently pleased with everything.
It is a bit of a walk to the rest of Waikiki, maybe 1.5 miles, but I never minded walking off dinner and sometimes drinks. The beach park and the mall are only two blocks away if you want to go longboarding or shop. There's also a great dive bar around the corner called the Harbor Pub.
The food at the restaurant is quite tasty, albeit pricey. The "gym" is a joke, it is two rooms with the door taken out joining them. I'm only good for about 15 minutes, so this never bothered me but if you're a workout monkey... get outside and soak up some Aloha!
The staff is also very cool. If you rent a surfboard, they'll let you stash it downstairs with the bell desk. Also, take advantage of the Prince Points. I haven't racked in a free room yet, but they have several hotels so you might as well.
Auf
Great experience here with courteous guests and staff alike. Great restaurants within, totally tuned for Nihonjin visiting from the Isle of the Rising Sun.
The underused gym would be my only complaint... but, given that this was a work-related trip, who can complain? The walk to the beach and marina was under 3 minutes. Great view of the marina. :)

There is a place at which I often stay during my visits to Honolulu. It is in the mountains, surrounded by lush gardens. It has a large deck from which I can see Diamond Head and the blue Pacific Ocean.
It's a bed and breakfast of sorts, or more accurately, a bed and breakfast and mid-morning snack and lunch and mid-afternoon beer hour and dinner and dessert. I am constantly eating when I stay here.
It's my parents' place. It's the house in which I grew up in, and lived in for 20 years starting at age four. You know moms, they're constantly feeding you.
There have been times, however, when staying with my parents has not been an option, most notably when we have been trying to throw surprise birthday parties for them. Nothing ruins a good surprise like having the adult kids show up on the doorstep.
When this happens, my husband and I choose the Hawaii Prince. All the rooms face the ocean and overlook the Ala Wai Yacht Harbor. Right now, this has been an especially pleasing view, since some boat owners have gotten into the holiday spirit by stringing up their boats with lights. I am not fed constantly (not a bad thing really; I frequently feel like veal when I stay with my parents for extended periods of time), but there is a mini-fridge and in-room coffee. When you check in, they give you warm face towels for freshening up. Parking with in/out privileges is available for $15 a day. You can walk through Waikiki from there, or in the other direction, to Ala Moana Center for some shopping.
I guess you could say we've been spoiled by the fine accommodations at my parents' place, and if we have to stay somewhere else, it had better be nice. This explains why we're partial to the Hawaii Prince.

The rooms are a little dated, I have gotten used to flat screen tvs and hd television. The furniture is a little dated as well. But, the suites are spacious, the bathrooms are great and there are some really good views.
The pool and lounging area is small and gets really, really windy. There's also a problem of no real hotel bar. I hear Hakone is great, the Prince Court is ok for breakfast food wise, the service here was always friendly.
I'd come back, because the location is good-close to Ala Moana and everything in Waikiki, but it's more of a business not pleasure hotel in my opinion.
Nice location away from the loads of people and kids. Staff is nice and helpful. The breakfast buffet is really good and it just plain blows away any other place hotel.
Walking distance from near deserted beaches!!
On my next vay k ima go there again..

A four-star hotel that offers the BEST seafood dinner buffet in Honolulu. Bar none!
So what if it's expensive? Hubby and I are buffet pros, and this hotel's five-star dining experience offers only the best maguro and sake sashimis, Alaskan and Dungeness crab legs, fresh California handrolls, spicy tuna handrolls, ultimate prime beef with rosemary and garlic, make-your-own pho, flavorful salads and their piece-de-resistance desserts. OMG!!! Save room for their madamia nut pie! It makes one slap their hand on the table and swear four-letter words. Definitely a meal to die for!
You can get a great price for this hotel by booking with Expedia for their combination deals (air ticket, room and car). Their standard rooms are spacious and we frequently get excellent views of the marina. The windows open in this high rise hotel which is a plus for us. We love fresh Hawaiian air!
Did I mention this hotel has an infinity pool on the 5th floor?
Sidenote: Make sure you leave a note for the attendant not to turn on your air conditioner at all or at HIGH when she's done. Otherwise, you'll be shocked with the freezer-like temperature when you check back in. The room offers Neutrogena products, but suggest bringing your own products instead (Neutrogena stuff seemed to cater to old people, no offense).

I loved this hotel! The location was perfect because it was away from the hustle & bustle of Waikiki, but just a quick shuttle ride away. Also walking distance from the Ala Moana mall, and most importantly to my fiance close to a marina for fishing!
Every morning, we woke up to a beautiful ocean view. And every evening.. we got to see the sun set. It was a perfect romantic getaway. PLUS we got a great deal off priceline! Woohoo.
If you have your own car, of course you have to pay for parking - which was $15/day or valet $21/day.
booked this hotel on hotwire for $150/nt.
description was "south waikiki". truth is
"south waikiki adjacent" ... if you're really
free with the interpretation of "adjacent".
this place is ~ 1-2mi from beach action!
the rooms are dated but marina views are stellar.
http://static.px.yelp....
i saw the 4th july fireworks here. that was nice.
pool water was not as clear as it should be,
pool area was crowded ... fair for $150/nt?

Great value at $139/night booked via Hotwire compared to other 4 star hotels, which were a lot more. Conveniently located and walking distance to the beach, Ala Moana Mall and they also have frequent shuttles to the International market area and Waikiki beach. The accomodations, though not the most modern, were very clean and comfortable. I would definitely stay there again. It made for a very comfortable, enjoyable stay at a great price.
This hotel had good customer service, free shuttle that leaves every 1/2 hr to 3 hotspot around Waikiki (DFS, Waikiki beach and Niketown), I've stayed at this hotel 3 times and it seems like most of their customers are from Japan.
This hotel is not the best compared to the Hilton, but I love their free shuttle and that it's away from the main strip of Waikiki.. but yet a walking distance to Ala Moana Mall, restaurants and ABC store.
The hotel room was not as impressive this time... it really seems like they need renovations done to their wallpaper, painting and an update on the furniture's and the TV to keep up with surrounding competition..
I still give it 4 stars just because of their friendly service, free shuttle, their daily evening "turn down" service where they turn down the bed for you and tidy the room up around the evening hours.... and not to forget the Hakone restaurant on the 2nd floor that I sooo love!
good deal if you are golfing in hawaii. Meaning that this is not a beachfront hotel. If you want beachfront then stay at the surfrider.
The rooms are somewhat modern and the cafe has decent food. The hotel has its own golf course in which they provide shutte free to and from the prince golf course.
I was very pleased with my stay at the Hawaii Prince. The customer service was excellent and we had room service twice a day. We would look forward to coming back to our room in the evening because there would always be treats on the bed (i.e. chocolate covered macademia nuts, orchids, and candy) and they would lay a miniature rug right at the foot of the bed to clean off your feet. Another great feature was the view of the Marina and Ala Moana beach. Our hotel window was from the cieling to the floor and the weather was awesome we slept with the window open and enjoyed the Hawaiian ocean breeze.
The pool was nice and depending on the time of day you could find yourself in the shadow of the hotel towers. The workout facility was also very nice and the equipment was well maintained.
Also, when I spoke with locals and let them know I was staying at the Hawaii Prince it had a very high reputation.
I will definitely stay at the Hawaii Prince the next time I visit!
A great place to stay if you're working while in Hawaii. My room had a gorgeous unobstructed view of Ala Moana park and the waves lapping at the beach. Updated, clean, quiet room. Not a lot of good food options, but you can always grab a plate of juicy pineapple and a croissant at the coffee stand in the lobby.
the hawaii prince hotel was a good place to stay ... not excellent ... just pretty good. i'd give it 3.5 stars.
my mom was there on business and i was tagging along. i thought i could just hang out by the pool ... read and nap during the day and then go to mom's business dinners at night. problem was the pool - it sucked. it was tiny and because it's right in between the two hotel towers (which are quite tall), i found myself "sunbathing" in the shade of the towers most of the time. eh.
rooms were ok. they're going to need to do some upkeep soon though. wallpaper is starting to look dated and peel a little, furniture is looking slightly worn. no patios or balconies though which would have been nice.
also, they don't have internet connections in the rooms. boo! i found a wireless network to connect to (for $12.95 for 2 days) but then found out that it sucked ass. it was actually worse than dial-up. oh well - maybe it was a sign for me to leave my computer off while in the tropics.
location of the hotel was good though. it's right at the west end of the waikiki area - not in it, but on the edge of it which i liked. ala moana beach park is right next to the hotel ... about a 10 minute walk to get to the sand.
all-in-all though, i would definitely stay here again. staying away from all the tourists yet close to the beach was nice.
Scored a deal on this hotel through Priceline and while it is a bit farther away from the hustle & bustle of downtown Waikiki than I would've liked, it was a very nice hotel and the shuttle made it very convenient to get around. We didn't have a car on this island (so no parking fees) but despite that, the shuttle was very convenient and the great staff at the front desk was very accommodating. The first room we were given smelled like smoke even though we had requested non-smoking. So they gave us another room, but it looked like it had been reserved for another guest (there were chocolates and a handwritten note on the nightstand.) So they gave us a third room which overlooked the harbor. The room was very nice but the only complaint I have is that the door to the toilet stall is opaque and right next to the sink, so if someone was "droppin the kids off at the pool," you'd see the silhouette of that. Aside from that, the place was awesome and I'd stay here again - assuming I wanted some peace and quiet away from the touristy strip.
