Hard Coal Cafe

This is your typical coal region bar. The place has basic beer and the bartenders can't make a good drink. The food is all frozen and not worth eating. Plus it's in a horrible location if you are coming through town and want to eat or drink. It's also full of "regulars" who instantly make you feel uncomfortable. I'd never go there again. It's dated and disgusting.

This is a very comfortable tavern where they serve up some very tasty dishes in addition to fresh free flowing Yuengling, the local brew that's made only a few miles away. We had the Philly Cheessteaks which were very good, served on a fresh baked bun. The fries were delicious! The steak wasn't really'the authentic Philly taste but it was the Pennsy Anthracite Region's best try. you must be patient... the food takes about 45 minutes to come out. The server was very pleasant. if you're in Mt. Carnel, this is the place!

I can only give them 3 stars because of the service. You are subject to a different waitress in training about every other week. There seems to be more concern with filling take out orders than the customer at hand. At least a 45 minute wait for your food. Their food was almost always good but is starting to fall away too.

Alright i guess. Although i would not recomend the wings or the chestks. The wings are small and dried out, barely any meat. And the cheesesteaks are kind of dry and bland. Drinks are good and friendly staff.
