Beautiful facility in a great location. Fabulous activities to keep seniors engaged. My mom was a resident in The Sound, which is one step away from The Cove, their memory care unit, for about 18 months. Being a resident of The Sound should have meant she received a bit more assistance. The actual layout of their building and location of the staff is a bit worrisome if your loved one needs any additional support. There are no med techs stationed upstairs where the large majority of the residents reside. The med techs are downstairs next to the dining room and bar. No medical staff upstairs with 100+ residents living upstairs is troublesome, especially for those that need additional support. We had repeated medication management issues. The building itself seemed to have a lot of issues, broken water pipes which resulted in moving residents out of their apartments for a week or two, the fire alarm went off a lot, the power went out frequently which resulted in TVs having to be reset. Where were the employees to help residents reset clocks and TVs? They weren't upstairs. They had a hard time keeping a cleaning staff, resulting in no housekeeping services for the majority of time my mother lived there. It's too bad more support wasn't available because location was great and activities were very good.

I can say very friendly staff who will go over and beyond for your loved one. I worried at first listening to others but I can honestly say Harborchase has made me believe in quality care.

Couldn't agree more with the previous reviewer. My parents moved in here when it first opened. However, the executive that was running the facility left to go work for a more compassionate and responsible company doing the same work here in this part of Texas. When that executive left, so did most of the key members of the staff. Positions were gapped, or filled with people who are far less capable.
The food quality and service went from quite good when we did our first visit, to unacceptable. On several occasions my mom simply couldn't eat the food that was brought to her (after 45 minutes to an hour wait after ordering).
While Susan L. was smart enough to put cameras in her mother's apartment, we didn't. If we had, we might have been able to catch the theft that occurred on an infrequent basis... but it happened.
It's a pretty facility in a GREAT location. However, the management is petty and cutthroat.
Fortunately, my mom moved to another facility nearby that is consistently better. We were disappointed to hear that the HarborChase staff have been directed to simply return mail rather than forward it. They said, "Oh we know where she's moved, but we don't have the address"(apparently google maps doesn't work there). This resulted in significant delays in getting taxes filed. It's a fundamental lack of human decency that reflects the attitudes of their corporate leadership (somewhere on the east coast).
Don't choose this place. We're very happy we moved mom out.

The experience we have had at Harbor Chase has been very good. My mother lives in the memory care facility and I have been quite pleased with the staff. They seem to truly care about my mother. The new Executive Director, Veronica, is very responsive to my questions and needs. I can tell she is adamant about making sure Harbor Chase is the best it can be. The night nurse, Sam, is extremely attentive to my mother's needs. The weekend nurse, Sandy is excellent as well. They both have great attitudes and don't let the intensity of their jobs keep them from being kind and friendly to my mother and our family. Care Partners, Catherine and Charlene are also very attentive to my mother's needs. Advice: Compassion and understanding go both ways! Caring for the elderly (and particularly those who have advanced dementia) is exhausting. It's why my mother doesn't live with me. This sounds harsh but I know my limitations. I give positive feedback to my mother's caregivers when appropriate. I stop by with cookies and snacks occasionally. I have also sent a catered lunch to the staff just as a "thank you". Kind gestures go a very long way. Just my opinion.

Harbor Chase a once well run assisted living has lost it's premier status. Management there is sub par and their lack of compassion and concern for residents is appalling. The city of Southlake is a small elite community and the cost of this facility is not worth it. My Mother moved in almost 6 months after they opened and the staff was welcoming and made the transition from her home much easier than anticipated. The past year when management changed, is when things began to slide. Turnover of workers and residents was rampant, services that were paid for not provided, and lack of compassion and concern when it was brought to Executive Leadership's attention was ignored. Luckily we had a camera in Mother's room so we could monitor activity, especially during Covid-19. While you are locked out and not able to visit, why should they provide the expected services? Because you paid for it for your loved one to be in their care! Mother recently passed away and we were told we would need to pay for everyday her belongings were in her room. So we quickly found a storage unit because why pay $7000 for a room not being used vs. $100 for a storage unit. Due to Covid-19 they packed her things and put them on the dock for us to pick up. Things were just thrown in bags and some things were broken. When we called to inform them that things had been cleared from her room they said there were still oxygen tanks in the room and that we would need to pay for the room until the oxygen company came and picked them up. When we inquired if they could be stored somewhere upfront so they could be picked up, they said no so we were charged for another 5 days. All Harbor Chase cares about is the bottom line. Don't believe their marketing material, their vision and mission statement either. When we wrote to the President and other executives they did not even respond and we did get an acknowledgment that the letter was opened. If the very top leadership doesn't have professional integrity and concern about their properties, that should tell you a lot. By the way this is not about money, this is about doing what is right and having a little compassion. Like I said, Southlake is a small elite community that relies on reputation and reviews of companies to thrive or die. The future will tell. I have no dog in the hunt now.
