Because we watched Jjajangmyeon Rhapsody on Netflix last night, we both craved Korean food today. It has been a while since we have been here. And yet we frequent the HK Market next door.
Quality/Quantity -
We ordered both the dishes from the Netflix show, lol. BTW, the show was good - If you like to learn about the dishes, I suggest watching.
Jajangmyeon - Good, generous sauce. But I could have used much more meat...
The Netflix show showed how to make the sauce from scratch rather than the store-bought pre-made sauce.
Jjamppong - Better of the two dishes. Generous seafood. And the spice was perfect, made to order. My wife asked for mild spice.
Two side dishes, banchan - Kimchi and pickled radish. I would have liked the kimchi spicier. The radish was perfect.
I was worried about not having enough food, but we left full.
Lunch specials available, see picture of menu.
Atmosphere - Hard working family run business.
You have done a great job with all your food pictures throughout the restaurant, both inside and outside.
Open 6 days a week from 11am or noon until 8pm or 8:30pm, closed Wednesdays.
Plenty of mall parking.
Service - Good. We got helped by almost the whole family. I believe the wife is the cook...?
Price - $32+ tip. Reasonably priced, especially for Korean food.
Owner Comment - Congrats on your success for the last 7 years, and to the previous owner's success 8 years prior. We have been coming here since the previous owner.Helpful 6Thanks 2Love this 9Oh no 0 - Mar 5, 2024
Seemed like this was a family owned restaurant and I really wanted to give them a higher rating since I definitely had higher expectations for this place.
The corn cheese was a massive disappointment. It quite literally was just corn and cheese with what seems to be like a complete lack of mayo. The banchan and galbi were alright (good smokey flavor) but the soups were on the blander side. I was expecting a deep rich flavor but the army stew tasted like hot spice water...
Prices and service was definitely a +1 to this place. If I am in town and craving Korean food, I wouldn't be opposed to coming here. There is a ton of parking available in the lot and plenty of seating available when I came for dinner!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 359224126Jan 10, 2024
I was really hoping this place would be amazing but unfortunately I agree with some of the other reviews.
We came in at around 6pm and there were only 2 other tables so we were seated immediately. We looked over the menu and ordered pretty quickly. The food came out along with the side dishes at the same time. When I asked if they use any sort of fish powder/sauce, he said no but later said they might use it in the kimchi, so I would watch out on that if you're vegetarian.
I ordered the soon tofu soup and it was just that. Just soup with spice and tofu, nothing special. I would only come back if my friends were really craving Korean food but otherwise this place is just alright for me and is not somewhere I would crave coming back to.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jan 6, 2024
Had the biggest craving for soft tofu stew so of course my bestie and I had to make stop at this restaurant! Hana Garden has been in Reno for as long as I could remember and they're one of the few places in town (at least compared to other big cities) that serves Korean cuisine. We were greeted by the friendly staff upon walk-in and were seated right away. My bestie and I went on a Thursday night and the restaurant was quite busy with a lot of customers - almost all the tables were filled!
Our meal came out with Banchan (side dishes) as well as a bowl of rice for each person.
Hana Thai Tea | 9/10, would get again
Beef Soft Tofu Stew | 7.5/10
Corn Cheese | 5/10, the portion was very small for its price so we were pretty disappointed :(
Fried Chicken Wings | 7/10, wings were a bit bland
Hana Milk Tea | 7/10
There was only one server helping out all the tables so he was very busy and on his feet the entire time but he was also very friendly and we appreciated his service! Unfortunately, he forgot to bring out our Corn Cheese so we had to remind him about it. Overall, the dishes we had were okay and I really wanted to give this place a higher rating but I think I would have to come back to this restaurant to try their other dishes. Especially considering that this is one of the only places in Reno that has authentic Korean cuisine - I'll be back if I'm craving Korean food.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Nataly M.Reno, NV021Apr 1, 2024
People over here are so nice and they're always making sure that your food taste good, the restaurant looks so clean, I would love to go back again! Our server was being so gentle and he was going every 10 or 15 min to check on us! I'm so happy with my experience here!!!

Oh how I've missed this place. I use to come here all the time with my friends. It's been well over 6 years.
The food is so good! I'm still obsessed. Best Kimchi I've ever had! Highly recommend even if you can barely stand spicy.
Can't wait to come back and have more.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Feb 14, 2023
I always have low expectations when I eat at Reno because it's usually a letdown compared to the food in California but I was so surprised with Hana Garden!
First off all, LOOK AT THE STEAMED EGG. It was probably the best I've had, super fluffy and soft. We also ordered the Budae Jjigae Jeongol which is kimchi army stew I believe. It was yummy but keep in mind it does have a slice of American cheese on top so if you're not a fan of that, ask them to leave out the cheese. The soup was definitely enough for 2 people.
Just a small suggestion, I think the soup needed something green like green onions or vegetables but other than that the taste wasn't overly sour and pretty mild.
I knocked down one point because it is pretty pricy for what it is. The Budae Jjigae Jeongol was $40+ and most entrees are around $25. FYI. I do not recommend the corn cheese it looked like a pile of canned corn. Overall, if you're in the area and don't want to be disappointed I would suggest this restaurant!!Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Jan 7, 2024
Came here with some friends and the menu has a nice variety. The service was good. I got the tonkatsu which was kind of thin and overcooked but wasn't expecting much since it isn't a tonkatsu shop. I would probably come back if it weren't overpriced for what it is.
