I booked here on points. On check-in an error occurred and when I checked out the clerk noticed the room had been billed to my credit card. I wouldn't have immediately known that had she not noticed. She later sent me an email confirming the correction and followed up with a separate note of apology. This is the kind of customer service that keeps me loyal to Hilton brands.
The room was clean and quiet though the hotel was fairly busy with families and cyclists in for a charity bike ride. That overloaded the too small breakfast area, which also lacked sufficient seating. Breakfast items like oatmeal and scrambled eggs were satisfactory but lukewarm.
There are plenty of dining options nearby--even within walking distance. .Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - Michael m.East Peoria, IL0345Oct 24, 2023
The property is in the process of "being updated"
My room appeared to have new carpet but all the furniture and linens were old. The fitted sheet had a 1 inch rip and was almost see through. The pillow cases were very thin and showed the yellowed pillow protectors through them. The towels were small thin and rough.
The ceiling was staind from roof leaks.
I could never get the internet to connect and heard from others when it did connect it was slow.
The breakfast was mediocre, same potatoes both days and eggs on first day were rubbery and no flavor.
On my last day I went back to my room before checking out and found a painting crew had let themselves in and proped the door open. I mentioned this to management and there response was the room had been empty for four days and they did not understand how I got into that room. I showed them the room number and assigned mobile key in the app. The response was we don't know what happened but that was not supposed to be your room.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

Sorry to hear the hotel wasn't too your standards. We would love it if you would give us a chance to redeem ourselves! We hope to see you again in the future!

My husband and I had the worst experience at this hotel. The internet was not working and the help line was no longer in service. The front desk said to come to the lobby to use the internet, so my husband did. When he went down to the lobby I noticed that there was garbage in the trash can from former occupants and the floor was dirty. We checked out and drove home.

The staff was awesome. The place was clean . The breakfast was yummy. I was there because my husband was in the hospital at Mercy and yes it cost a bit but my stay was great . My thanks to all who work there

I really wish I could give this hotel a higher rating. But, there were a few things that impacted my rating:
Cons
1) My bathroom had a used bar of soap with pubes on it in the shower on the soap holder. Given that, I felt worried that their advertised covid cleanliness protocols aren't actually happening
2) when I was checking out there were two women at the front desk talking to the desk staff. The employee was wearing a mask and the two women were not, despite it being hotel policy. At one point one woman walked away. The second woman said to the employee "oh my god I'm not wearing a mask! Is that okay?" And the employee started laughing and loudly said "I don't care!" Which felt very awkward because it appeared he was trying to flirt with her but also because it *is* their policy and it puts other people at risk. The signs posted on the front doors and the hallway stating "mask required" were so tiny it's obvious they actually don't care. Very disappointing.
3) The hallway foot traffic was very loud all night
4) 1 of the 4 pillows was yellow and covered in stains
Pros
1) I saw two fat raccoons eating trash in the dumpster area and it was cute.
2) good location.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Tara B.Chicago, IL92293Sep 22, 2020
The room had obviously not been cleaned well, which was disturbing given Iowa City is currently seeing a huge rise in COVID-19 cases. The dang carpet hadn't even been vacuumed! There were a lot of crumbs, seeds and a water bottle cap on the carpet (see photo). And--I kid you not--when we opened the fridge, there were two cups of night crawlers (gross) and some other stuff left by the guests before us! The hotel entrances said guests were required to wear masks, but the staff were not enforcing the rule, as many guests were walking around inside unmasked. My husband and I very much regret staying here.

This location is not taking the necessary and serious precautions that are required & responsible during a pandemic. The housekeeping staff knocked on my door hours before checkout. When I opened the door, the lady stood inches from me with no mask. I guess the masks required sign on the door are for show. I can only assume all cleaning precautions are not being met based on the mold on the bathroom sink and someone else's used cup on the floor by the bed.

Safe bet for business travelers. I spend about 50% of my time on the road, traveling for a large insurance company. I get to see them all, in the good parts and not so good parts of this country.
One thing I've truly come to appreciate is a clean hotel, with updated furniture, in a safe/quiet area. This location delivers on all fronts and is ideal for any business traveler (or couple). It simple and no frills, in a good way.
There are a couple of restaurants in the area nearby and a Walmart within walking distance if you want to snag some food to eat in your room (they have a large fridge and microwave in each room).
Safe bet and worth staying at, for the price and location.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

The only reason it is not getting 1 star is because of the staff here being welcoming and very kind. The hotel itself is just boring. Yes I understand its covid, but I expect when paying $100+ for a room, I would get more out of the experience. The rooms were clean, and everything was nice besides that. I was just disappointed that the last hotel in Iowa City we came here had a bigger room, and was more worth the price of the stay.
Onto the pool situation. The pool was mediocre at best, and the bathroom was dirty, and looked rundown. Again, this was not worth the price tag it has.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - James M.Solomons, MD12910106584Aug 4, 2019
I'm a Hilton honors member and typically I stay at Hampton hotels when I'm staying under the Hilton brand. Needed a place convenient to Iowa City for a 4-day stay and based on Yelp reviews this fit the mark. About a 20-minute drive from the airport and easy to find. Plenty of parking. Not much in the general area which is pretty much commercial, but you're just a few minutes from downtown. Overall the hotel is clean and the staff is friendly. Generally it could use a renovation, it's a little bit shabby. Breakfast area has all of the typical Hampton inn breakfast items, but could use more seating for guests on weekends. If you're staying on a Tuesday, you probably want a room on the front of the hotel since the shopping center behind the hotel has very early trash pickup which is loud and will wake you up.
