In my opinion, this is the best Mexican restaurant on the north shore! A lot of people love La Carretas, but I will say that Habaneros is way better hands-down. Their presentation and menu selection is wonderful and creative. You also don't get a slew of rice and beans like most traditional Tex-Mex places. There are other side options, such as tortilla soup, steamed vegetables, street, corn, and many more! I'm not much for alcohol, but if margaritas and fancy drinks are your thing, this place definitely has that too!

My family ordered 30 tacos and this is what they gave us. In 2020 this was our favorite Mexican restaurant. Fast forward to 2024 this place has taken the love out of their food. I'm so disappointed. Chicken with no flavor. Chicken not shredded. Do better habaneros! So sad you have lost a customer:(

We ordered to go. I haven't tried any Mexican restaurants since moving to this area. This is close to home and the menu looked interesting. We finally decided to try it,
I think I'm being generous with 2 stars. I'm including how easy it was to order online as 1 star. Just based on food, I'm not sure I would give 2 stars.
Ordering online is really easy and there were no issues.
I was so disappointed because the menu sounded a little different from some Mexican restaurants. We got one Al Pastor Tacos plate (3 soft tortilla), beans, and maduros @ $14.95, a beef, crunchy taco a là cart (Gringo style for my Latin boyfriend... he was in that mood) $2.95, the Covington Guacamole ($12.95), a quesadilla @ $7.95, a flauta @ $2.95, and a side of rice. It was over $60 when we picked it up with the take out fees and a tip.
The Al pastor tacos were close to what I'd label as bad. For the price, there was very little meat and it was small, dried out pieces. They reminded me of rabbit pellet poop when I looked them. Even after that description, they were by far not the worst menu item. The beans were bland and I love maduros and I think it's hard to get me not to like them. These seemed undercooked and a bit hard. You only got 3 very small pieces.
The Covington Guacamole was good. It's about 4-5 bites each for 2 people. The pineapple and bacon add a nice kick to the dish, I liked the pork rinds with it. This would be a nice option for Keto. At $13, it's too expensive for the amount you get in my opinion.
The gringo style taco was pitiful. There was maybe 1-2 tablespoons of beef and even less cheese. My boyfriend said he would prefer a well know fast food Mexican place over this one. The flauta and quesadilla were equally as bad. It seems like the items were sitting under a heat lamp for hours, but we picked the order up as soon as it was ready.
Neither of us finished our meals and threw away about half the food. Maybe they had an off night but I can't imagine spending $60 again for a meal from here.

This place has had a make over. The menu is much better and so is the food. Our server was great! Nothing bad to say. My only complaint is that almost every guy in there, with the exception of my husband, ate with his stupid baseball cap on. No manners any more.

Came here on a Tuesday afternoon. The place wasn't crowded but there was plenty of servers, who were all super friendly. Even the manager came out to speak with me.
I ordered the vegetarian tacos and subbed the mushrooms for black beans. It was so delicious! The rice was ok and corn was cool. The house margarita was delicious!
I definitely look forward to coming back. Hopefully more menu items can be made vegetarian.

Been here a few times on lunch break with a few of my coworkers and enjoy it every time. I will definitely be back. I love Mexican food and their fajitas are great as well as the Baja shrimp tacos

This location is the worst. We frequent other locations but the food here is served missing items that are on the menu and served without up charge at other locations. This time we ordered a drink (old fashioned with mezcal) which is listed as $14 on the menu and what I always drink when we go to Habs. We opted for a different brand mezcal. (Which we always do) We even talk to the manager about mezcal for a few minutes as he mentioned we taught him some things. At no point were we aware that the price of their drinks doubled. (And the. Some) The bill came and we were charged $32 per drink. The manager did not seem to care that we were regulars and normally charged $19.50 for each drink which is an up charge for the brand mezcal we drink. We normally go once or twice per week and the bill is normally twice as much as this time. if you choose to go to Habernero, please avoid the 21 location.

We spoke with the manager (new) and made him aware that we've never paid this for a drink and were regulars. He insisted that we pay the bill and there was nothing he was going to do. I let him know it would be the last hundred they ever get from me! $16 per shot for a $40 bottle of mezcal is a bit much.
