I mentioned to an employee that I was concerned about how much feces was in this animals enclosure. She then told me how it's cleaned every night. I then questioned her because it is very obvious it's not being cleaned daily. She then said it's cleaned once weekly. I think she meant underneath the cage (the floor) was swept every night... After I firmly told her that it's not acceptable and needs to be cleaned daily, she walked away and said she needed to go to the register.
I'm extremely disappointed in the lack of care for some of the small animals at this location. It's absolutely unacceptable and cruel to house multiple rodents in an enclosure and make them sit in their own accumulated feces for days on end. The other cages were not properly up-kept either, but it was far less severe than this cage in particular.
I am genuinely shocked that they aren't embarrassed by their negligence and tried to defend that the pets environment was acceptable. As a pet store it is THEIR JOB to set expectations regarding a pets care. Reflecting poor care of animals to new inexperienced owners does not set anyone (or the animal) up for success. The lack knowledge or care by employees is reflected by their low standard of care.

Horrible customer service, unclean, musty smelling bays, broken equipment, and missing grooming supplies. the last two times there was no conditioner. I have a long coat dog who requires it. when I finally flagged down a staff member, they told me they didn't have any more in stock. It would've been nice to at least had a sign up in the room letting us know that.

Stadium drive Store is nice but self wash dog wash needs major help. I called ahead to reserve 2 tubs. They said they don't take reservations but had 2 of 3 stalls available. Got there and only one was clean. Fine we took one clean and one dirty. Only had one towel. I use one to stand on as floor was super slippery as it's always wet. Next...No nozzle for dryer. When I asked where the nozzle was, I was told they would look. The forced air dryers are worthless without the nozzle. One could not be found...they advised me they get stolen all the time so out of luck. How about keeping them at front desk then and renting them for $10 and refund the money when item was returned. Wasn't offered discount for any of the inconveniences.

This place was really adorable. Great location in a nice area. They had a great variety of pet supplies. They had cats to be adopted at the front and a cute store cat that meandered around the customers. They had a couple adorable chinchillas and some other small animals for sale. If you are interested in a baby Guinea pig, they had some really young ones, so cute, the size of larger hamsters.

They had an area for self-service dog washes and we spotted a happy customer at the front checking out. They seemed to have a really nice variety of products for all pets. It was also a large and spacious store. A nice place to shop.

We've been taking our pup to get a bath every Wednesday for 3 months now. It's become "our thing" with him. He hates water but it's manageable to give him a proper bath here.
In the bath room they have a shelf of all your necessary grooming/shower tools. A tray of 5-6 different grooming combs, ear plugs for your pup, treats, cotton swabs, cotton balls, ear cleaners (2 different aromas), and 2 different perfumes. They then have 5 different shampoos, and towels for use. Only use 2 towels per shower. They also have aprons for us to wear to prevent us from getting soaked and a huge blow drier that's attached to the wall.

Okay -staff here are SO FRIENDLY and I love that they have a DIY dog wash! Everything you may need is included -shampoos (we used a teatree wash for itchy skin), cream rinse, ear wash (with cotton balls), perfumes, coat conditioners (we used emu oil), treats to keep them occupied -it was well worth the $13. They even had tools to use while washing the dogs coat -and aprons to keep us humans dry! Loved it!

What do you do when your cats decide they need a change in their diet- mostly because they suddenly consider themselves too refined even for Fancy Feast, turn down their noses at 9 Lives, and won't even get up for Friskies? You come up to Chow Hound and simply pick up a few cans from their huge selection of cat foods and hope that you can find something that even the pickiest cat's taste buds will finally enjoy.

But this place is more than just cat food- it's full of wonderful supplies and potential pets for pretty much everything under the sun! It doesn't matter what you have- if it's aching, you'll find supplements and soft beds. If it's energetic, you'll find toys for it to chase or scratchers for it to work out all that extra energy on. If it's hungry, there are aisles and refrigerators full of new brands of food for them to eat and try that ought to satisfy even the pickiest pet.

There are also some animals here who need some good forever homes, too- so if you're looking, at least come on by and see if one or more of these wonderful potential pets can find a place with you!

Own your very own pupper? Have they gotten into something they shouldn't have, or has it just been a while and bathing them at home is a pain? Then bring them on in and give them a nice, wonderful bath at Chow Hound's dog bathing facilities. Apparently they're good for dogs of most sizes, and you get most everything in the flat price- shampoo, conditioner, pretty much everything you might need to make any old dog into a pampered pupper.

I will offer up caution, though- watch where you step! With so many dogs coming in and out, there is the occasional accident- wether someone just can't hold it and goes on the floor, or something else- and while the store clerks are very quick with their mops, it still pays to watch where you step, yes?

Finally, yes- there is a store cat. We didn't get their name, but we did feel its imperious stare from the highest point it could reach- on top of an already massive cat tower on an already high shelf. I don't know how friendly they are, myself...

But anyways, if you're in the area and want to stop in, I would recommend you come on in and see what they have to offer!

What a clean, bright, and organized store. I was out of kitty litter and just happened to be near Chow Hound Pet Supplies. Wow, what an awesome pet store. It is a lot smaller than PetCo's, etc., but they do have a great supply of items. I found the litter my cat prefers. I was bummed though they did not carry his favorite cat food.

The employees were very friendly. It's too bad I don't live or travel to the west side of Kalamazoo often because I would definitely frequent it. I love that they had store cat.

The staff really helped, considering I had a brand new dog.
