Employees all trained in how to look and act like they hate their lives. Good stuff but food court doesn't have much variety/stays the same

It's a nice store in the community! I appreciate that there are almost anything that I want for Asian foods in my categories! :)
I like their freshness of the products!
We stopped here to get some groceries for the camping at big bear lake and we made a good choice for that!
Natto seems to be cheaper so I was quite happy with it! :)
Sweet potatoes we bought here were so sweet
Good service indeed and Love it!
Come enjoy shoppingHelpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jan 2, 2024Updated review
HMART Mira Mesa vs. HMART Convoy
(4.5 stars)
I've went back and forth debating because for awhile I thought they were equally liked because they each offered different things the other lacked. For example, HMart Convoy DOES have better kbbq meat selection (fresh and frozen). I give them that! However HMart Mira Mesa has larger and live seafood section. So technical, I still shop at both but my preferred store is this one! It's becoming the favored one.
I've recently discovered that things you see on social media that are trending aren't at all HMarts and HMart Mira Mesa seems to be of inventory. There are also many new discovery brands and foods (and beverages) here that I like that HMart Balboa doesn't have.
So, yes, I will drive all the way to Mira Mesa to shop!Helpful 3Thanks 1Love this 2Oh no 0Feb 19, 2023Previous reviewTHIS LOCATION IS GROWING ON ME
I feel like they have better options for food that's precooked/prepackaged compared to the Balboa location. Parking always sucks but I usually park near Applebees and make the walk across the parking lot much faster than circling closer to the store front.
I guess there are things here that Balboa lacks and things at Balboa that Mira Mesa lacks. I'm just use to the Balboa location because it's more organized and less chaotic between the aisles.
But I can't hate on hmart! - Vicky J.San Diego, CA5829188Oct 31, 2023
Our family visits Hmart a lot. First time trying their tteok rice cake from the prepared foods table near the door. Everyone loved it--it's not super sweet like it looks and is super fresh. From a tteok shop in Garden Grove.
I also learned that in order to sell fresh tteok, shop owners lobbied CA government to get a law signed that as long as the box has a sticker that the rice cake is to be discarded after one day, then it doesn't have to be refrigerated for food safety. So there's a sticker that says Korean Rice Cake Association Corp on the box.Helpful 1Thanks 1Love this 1Oh no 0 - Stephanie D.Henderson, NV322968Mar 10, 2024
This market has a wide assortment of items, but what they are great in is their huge selection of ramen options.

The French style bakery at the entrance is outstanding. There is a wide variety of pastries beyond croissants. It is fun to walk through with a tray and tongs to find the latest delicacy. The coffee is good and the counter staff polite.
For those who wonder why the bakery is at an Asian market, Vietnam was a French colony known as French Indochina ending in 1954.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Nov 28, 20234 check-ins
Mira Mesa Hmart is awesome! It's never too crowded, which I appreciate. They have a ton of instant ramen noodles, Korean snacks, BBQ meats, deli-prepared food, kimchis, and fruits. The place is always clean, shelves well-stocked, and the snacks are always delicious.

My go to spot for the bulk of my Asian foods...love store. Can always count on them having everything. Clean and organized. Only complaint is that it's a pain getting in and out of the parking lot. Service is adequate. Good prices. They offer a reward program. From mochi ice cream, dumplings, ramen, every condiment you can think of....one stop shop!

No matter what your looking for I'm pretty sure they'll have it. They also have fresh seafood and some nice selections of meat. They offer some Pre made lunches and lots of different kimchi's. Big selection of fresh veggies and even a really nice bakery! The pricing is good too. This is a big store....just like Von's. The parking lot is always busy but you can always find a spot. It's a really cool store....if you haven't been yet....you gotta go.

This is a great H Mart! They are usually fully stocked. Their produce section is always clean. Service can be a little slow in the seafood section and can get busy.
They don't have a food court like the H Mart in Balboa but they do have a section with ready to go foods! You just fill your box and pay by the pound. They use to have delicious galbi available but I haven't seen it in a while sadly. It was perfectly marinated.. bring it back please.Helpful 11Thanks 0Love this 8Oh no 0Business owner information

Tammy, thank you for taking the time to write this review! We are glad that you have had a great shopping experience.
Sincerely,
H Mart - Jun 23, 2023
Almost 20 years ago In Atlanta, I got my first experience with H Mart, yes they have a large Korean community where I used to live, and their H Mart was huge, the concept I like about it was they have a bakery, and a lot of food vendors at the food court, so it is a very fulfilling grocery shopping experience, you can shop then eat, or finish eating then shop later, either way they just have so many Korean dishes and snacks for you to try out, really depends on which vendors renting the food court for their food stand.
Anyway when I moved to San Diego, I didn't see an H Mart until years later, if I wanted Korean stuffs, I had to buy them at a different Asian markets, so finally when they opened one in Mira Mesa, I had to check it out, I've been here when the food court was cooking some very good and hearty Korean dishes which made you felt like you were in one their K Drama shows, this location didn't have any vendors, they had one kitchen to cook everything and they pre-made some food for togo as well, you could just grab them, unless you want to eat on the spot, it's been slow down since Covid, I don't see a lot of customers during evening shopping hours, the kitchen lady had to come out and asked me if I wanted combo number 1; because a lot of people ordered that combo according to her, she said it was spicy, and I said I couldn't eat spicy very well, business was just that slow now.
Paris Baguette probably did better in sales but they're located on the other side.
I always fascinated with their fresh seafood display, and every day they have different stuffs, one day was live sweet shrimps, next was live halibut, then today it was live abalone amongst the live lobsters, crabs and fishes hiding behind the cleaning station.
I ended up buying a lot of food, unfortunately they were unable to look up my phone number for my H Mart membership, they made people carry the rewards card physically with them, but they could not tell if you were in the system by looking for your number, I was kinda backward, this was not the first time, but last time they sent me to customer service to reset my information and make me a new card, but who would remember to bring your membership to earn points, I still receive emails from H Mart for their promotions but I can't have the card virtually on my phone to have the employee scanned at check out, so I ended up paying without earning anything, sigh. Time to go home and eat some seaweed flakes over rice :)Helpful 4Thanks 1Love this 4Oh no 0
