H&R Block

My highest recommendation to Jason Chapman. I procrastinated with my taxes every year until I found Jason Chapman at H&R Block. Jason is very knowledgeable and patient. He is thorough and gives helpful suggestions for the next year as well. H&R Block is quite lucky to have him as an employee. I'll definitely be going back to have my taxes done by him next year!

First & last time using this service. They charged $360 for a simple return. The woman who did them couldn't figure it out & had to ask for help. She didn't do my deductions correct as I received a letter from the IRS today & now I'm fixing her error. Thanks for absolutely nothing.

It has been a nightmare, our preparer disappeared and we can't get any help or return calls.

I am trying to be fair in this review. I will never use HR again. For the last three years I have used the service and it has progressively gotten worse.

The service I received costs between $250-$350 each time. Never been told what I will pay before the service is done.

Unless you go in and have your taxes done while you wait, the experience is horrible.

For the second year I have uploaded my taxes to the website. If you do this you will blindly wait and wait to hear from the company.

I sent (5) messages through the website over a three day period and I never received a response.

I called three times and could not get through to a person. Once I finally reached a human, I explained I was trying to get an update as no one had been in contact with me.

I was told I would receive a call back.

After six hours with no return call, I tried again. This time I was told that the person I chose to do my taxes, and that the website said was working on them, no longer worked at the location I chose.

The person who the online account showed was doing my takes was never updated.

I know this because a friend also chose the same person online to do their taxes. The day taxes where due they had to go in and wait for someone to become free to do their taxes. They were offered a 11:30 pm appointment. They chose to wait for someone.

Nothing ever goes smoothly when I use HR Block. I put my bank info in to get a direct deposit and my return was mailed to me.

I was not asked what service I wanted but did put some information online. The person I chose not to return to was finally given my taxes to prepare.

You think she would have seen the way she did my return last year or if she had question would have called and asked.

When she finally contacted me and told my return was under $100. I said why is that? She said I did a simple no itemized service.

I said what was done last year and the year before when my return was much larger. She said she would have to look. I said they way I have had it done in the past is the way I want it.

A company as large as this should spend some money making sure their website work before having people put their information online.

The website should also not say someone has started to work on your taxes when in fact, no one has.

The money I pay for HR Block is the same I paid for a private CPA in the past. In a private company someone answers emails and phone calls.

It seems that their are not enough people for the amount of returns they take. While this is not the workers fault, it is also not the paying client fault.

HR Block your clients and workers deserve better. The idea of paying to be your clients so that I have a week of aggravation seams silly. Never again!!!!

They ABSOLUTELY charge to much. They did my taxes for 2020 and didn't even take her 30 minutes and charged me $299. I tried speaking with the district manager by emailing him, but not one response. THEY ARE CROOKS!!!!

Terrible, terrible experience! This wasn't my first time using this office. I had an ok experience the first time around, so I thought I would use them a second time. After what I experienced this go-round, I will never use H&R Block again.

They were sloppy all around. Mistake after mistake (including losing the printed version of my return, which they were looking for INSIDE THE FILES OF OTHER CUSTOMERS!!!). Zero accountability. Zero leadership from the so-called manager Angela. She doesn't return calls no matter how many times you leave messages for her. I thought I would have better luck escalating my issue to the district manager, Alex, but guess what? He doesn't return calls either. I had better luck getting through to someone in the corporate office. However, I was told someone would call me back in 3-5 days with an update, and low and behold, weeks have passed without a call.

If H&R Block can't take a potential breach of my personal information seriously, how can you trust them to get anything else right? Do yourself a favor: Use TurboTax.

We filed our taxes today with Pauline and were very happy we did. She is very professional, and patient with a sense of humor. The price was very reasonable and we were very happy that she did our taxes. Thank you.

I've been using these folks for the last five years. Pauline has been assisting each of those years and I've always felt taken care of; she's courteous, expedient and highly professional. I always have a good experience!

BF and I did our taxes a lot sooner than last year. As soon as we received our W2's, we scheduled our now annual appointment to meet with Sean, our tax dude.
He was able to complete my filing and my BF's in a little over an hour. Sean is nice because he doesn't just make it all about the taxes. We talk about work, life and restaurant recommendations. He makes the experience very comfortable and chill.
When it comes to tax preparations, he is VERY thorough and detailed, which I think are 2 important qualities to possess so that nothing is missed. He is great at explaining things.

I've been using the Woodland Hills office for many years even before they moved to their current address. I am very happy with Tokiko our tax consultant. Unfortunately the office is terribly run and they seem to have lost the confidential tax documents that I dropped off the beginning of April and I never received a copy of my prepared return. My taxes were finished the beginning of April and I was told by Tokiko that she gave them to Yolanda the receptionist to mail back to me. I have spoken to Yolanda on 3 separate occasions and each time I'm told they will be mailed out tomorrow. Unfortunately tomorrow never comes and I can only assume that my documents have been lost. I even put in a customer service request through Twitter and was told I would get a response in 3-5 workings days but no one ever contacted me.
