We came here on a Sunday morning at around 9.30am and it was pretty packed already. The shop is relatively small but there are a few staff around to ensure you are served.
The chicken and leek pie was really good. Even though it was a little smaller than expected, the flavor really made up for it.
We also tried the passionfruit cheesecake and it was delicious !!!
I will definitely be back to try other tarts !Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0May 14, 2018Previous reviewTried their passionfruit sponge cake and it was so light and fluffy. The passionfruit was not overpowering. I totally love it !
There must be a reason why they keep wining awards :) - Justice B.Bowral, Australia043Mar 23, 2023
Great pastries. Berrima gumnut is best In my opinion.
Love it. Eat at gumnut because it's just goodHelpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Apr 8, 2023Updated review
Okay, I may have been wrong on this one. Went to an Easter Saturday potluck with my neighbors today and tried a couple of the small tarts (lemon meringue and a chocolate tart) and they were surprisingly delicious. I am revisiting my original rating and plan to give this place another try in the future.

The last time we tried a wide selection because I felt certain we must have ordered wrong, but I still found most items too sweet or just not to our liking.
It's super popular, so obviously everyone else in Bowral disagrees. - Stuart T.Lake Heights, Australia1125Jul 7, 2018
You can never go wrong stopping here.
The worst part is deciding on what to get.
So many delicious things to try.
Well worth a drive just for lunch or even a morning treat.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Tempest W.Sydney, Australia8110462Dec 12, 2016
Hey, this place isn't bad at all. We just had an eclair and a Baviois. They were both fine.
I believe we should have tried the pies though, as they have won so many awards, our host also suggested that their sausage rolls are to die for. The amount of people scurrying out the door loaded with promising looking paper parcels speaks volumes for the business, and the myriad awards proudly displayed in the window boast that it has been voted best in NSW many years running.
Certainly worth the pop in.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Andrew R.Sydney, Australia1602028Jan 24, 2020
A very pleasant bakery that has apparently won a ton of awards for tHeir meat pies. I had the beef and mushroom pie with tomato sauce (ketchup), and it was finger licking good! The inside looks kinda weird, but tasted fantastic. This was easily the best meat pie I've ever had. (This was also the only meat pie I've ever had in my life)

This is the source of the best pies in Australia - which off course means best in the world.
They won the 2012 best gourmet pie award for their lamb cutlet pie and have been a top bakery for many years - in fact they proudly boast a hoard of 42 awards from the 2012 Easter show.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - M H.Greenacre, Australia236Jul 25, 2015
This small patisserie barely has enough room for all the awards / trophies they keep winning!
Some of the highest quality, and best tasting pastries I've ever had! The pies are amazing - and there's even a 'secret'/ special pie that's only available by pre-order!
If you are in or near Bowral, a visit here is a must!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Tamer M.Sydney, Australia65411445Aug 25, 2014
So I was in the Southern Highlands for the weekend, and so I went to Bowral for some breakfast. As I was walking down the main street, I walked past Gumnut. On their window they had a sign saying that they had won best patisserie in NSW for the last 2 years, so I had to stop off and try it.
And yes, they are the best patisserie in NSW. Or at least the best that I have tried. The almond croissant was amazing! Soft, with just in enough custard. I have had many almond croissants (as it is my go to pastry) and this was the best that I have tried. While the caramel slice was smooth and to die for.
This place was so good, that I made sure that I came back the next day to try their award winning funky Vienna slice (with hazelnut butter cream).
I can't wait to come to Bowral again, just so I can try something else. I didn't try the pies, but there was a line of people waiting for a meat pie - and if they are anything like their desserts they will be worth the wait.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Marcus C.Avalon, Australia3554132Sep 9, 2014
Stumbled across this place by chance and only went in when we saw the massive list of all the awards they won for their baked goods and treats.
All those awards were well earned and well deserved because everything I tired was a masterful piece of culinary triumph.
The must try for me would be the vanilla slice.
So good I went back the next day - and it seems so did everyone else as it was always packed!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
