We talked with Blooming Desert several months ago for a backyard/front yard project. They are doing several homes in our neighborhood and thought it would be an easy process. Oh, and their crews leave the streets a mess and block houses with their trucks. 2 times the garbage truck missed several houses because Blooming Desert was blocking the cans. Besides that, uncovered dirt and debris is left all over the street and wind blows the dust everywhere.
Anyway, a designer visited us at our property and was friendly in communicating what we like and disliked for an outdoor living space. We provided several photos and mock up drawing of what we liked for a backyard pool space.
We were told we would have a 1st draft drawing finished in a month and to meet at their office. His initial estimates for the project were very high. $300K+ for simple pool project. We still wanted to see what he would come up with in a month. A month went by and we didn't hear back. We sent several emails over the next few weeks and still... nothing.... Ghosted!!
Luckily we did not waited for them and had already been talking and eventually signed with another company that has much better communication skills. Oh, and the price is a fractions of cost of what Blooming Desert guessed it would cost. We are thinking Blooming Desert ghosted us because they didn't like that we already had a mock up plan of what we liked for our outdoor space, voiding them of their design fee and cookie cutter design that they've chose for our neighborhood.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

Thanks for taking the time to share your feedback. We were sorry to hear about your experience. We are, however, glad that we were able to speak via phone call since this review was written. We are glad that we were able to clarify some areas where there may have been a misunderstanding as to the next steps in the design process and that we may have each been waiting on the other to give the green light to proceed. We do not have record of the several emails from that that were referred to in the review. I know you said you would try to find those and forward to us just for clarity. With that, a touch base call on our end to confirm you wanted to proceed or not would have clarified that confusion, as we discussed. We understand that once an element of the relationship has been tarnished, other things may amplify the negativity. I hope that some clarification of those things help to clarify that our goal is to be a highly respectable guest in the neighborhoods we work in. We communicate that to our team and strive to accomplish that. We appreciate you taking the time to speak with us in person and we are happy that you were able to find a company that met your needs. Best regards.

I don't usually write reviews like this but I feel like I need to say what a great job Blooming Desert did for us on the construction of our patio and pool. From start to finish the construction team, led by Kenneth Lindsay, took care of every detail. They had the knowledge, the skills, the people, the tools and the materials to get the job done right, done on time and done on budget. They listened and responded to our needs and our requests. They really cared about the quality of their work -- which seems to be a rare thing these days -- and made sure that we were happy. We've already received lots of compliments and are very glad we had Blooming Desert working for us.

Brent,
It is not interpretation it is fact based. It is our experience with Blooming Desert that your workmanship is sub-par and shoddy at best. You have taken payment for products never installed and that were likely never intended to be installed for which you have yet to provide a refund. Your representation of a warranty department is laughable and a sham as they only serve to alienate customers and provides nothing more than a buffer to evade true warranty work. Our experience is that you have created a culture of deception and we stand by our factual statements and provide experiences and guidance so that consumers don't get caught in similar traps with Blooming Desert.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

We are sorry to hear about this interpretation of your experience with us. We have been in business for over 20 years and have maintained an excellent reputation throughout that time by first educating our clients of their options, providing excellent service and the highest quality of materials. Prior to this review we have made several attempts to schedule a time to address your concerns onsite, and are still waiting for your approval to visit the site. We have also offered a credit for the ozonator that was temporarily discontinued to supply chain issues - along with an alternative sanitation option in it's place (UV system). We're just waiting on your approval and access to the site and we'd be happy to get that installed for you. Feel free to reach out to our service department via our website and we will get our service team scheduled to address any concerns you might have.
Jun 6, 2022Previous reviewBEWARE Blooming Desert Pools - Stay away from this company and select a reputable pool company that stands behind their work!
We recently had our pool and extensive hardscape / landscape installed by Blooming Desert Pools. With so many reputable pool companies in the valley, I can provide factual information as to why you should NEVER use this company avoiding them at any cost.
They take your money and then some (not sure what the word for taking money and not delivering the product is) and forget to install key components. In fact its been over a month since the job was complete and no refund for the features they conveniently forgot to install. They are the used car dealer of the pool business experts at the ol' bait and switch. A good example of which were the shrubs, trees and scrub grass they chose to install. (they do not provide you the option of choosing your own plants) The plantings already had documented frost damage and died conveniently ten days after their 60 day warranty expired. - We would have been far better off buying our own plants at a big box store. Would have cost thousands less. They use the poorest quality sub-contractors in the valley and then advertise a warranty department that won't honor shoddy workmanship.
I am happy to provide additional details and facts. While I am certain we will be made whole one way or the other it was still a painful experience and cannot stress enough that working with Blooming Desert out of Mesa will not be a good experience.
Their claim to fame is that once upon a time they won an HGTV competition. In retrospect I can see there is no value in that since the install they showcased was staged for a specific reason. But every aspect of their process is built on deception. If this were a serious company the first thing they would do is fire their designer. He designed and presented an amateurish layout that looked good in all its one-dimensional glory but when it came to installation it was so cockeyed wrong that they couldn't install as designed.
Use Blooming Desert Pools at your own peril! Why risk the same experience when there are so many reputable - quality and honest firms in the valley. - Dawn B.Caldwell, NJ0575Jul 30, 2022
Stay away! Thieves! Bait and Switch. Do not listen to their damage control responses here. They are the absolute worst. They dug my pool in the wrong place! The electrician came up to me and said why am I installing electric for a Ramada behind your spiral staircase to roof. I said that's a good question and after a little investigation sure enough, the plans were read incorrectly and the entire design had to be reworked. And we had to pay for the up charge! They still owe us parts and they disappeared. There are so many other reputable companies and I regret jumping the gun with this one because they said they could get the project done faster. Another outright lie. Run from this company!

Critical: Professionalism, Quality, Value
Blooming Desert should be ashamed of their lack of regard for customers and planting trees that have no business in Arizona backyards.11 years ago they planted 2 Sissoo trees in our backyard one died after 5 years the other seemed to thrive until the last microburst now it is swaying and the roots have become exposed and are very invasive. One would think a responsible company would know about the plants they recommend and the growing patterns. B.D. planted 4 trees on our property and now 3 have either died or have broken to the point they needed to be removed. I highly recommend you avoid this company if zero stars were available B.D. would have earned it! Now 10 years later it has cost us almost as much as the original cost to remove the Sissoo tree that they planted and if you add in the other two trees we had to remove actually it cost us more than the initial install. Shame on you Blooming Desert! Your reply totally ignored the fact that Sissoo trees have no business being planted in a backyard. Your reply was as ignorant as planting Sissoo trees in any homes backyard. Nice sidestepping the actual issue!

We are sorry to hear about the damage to your property from one of the recent storms as well as any plant and tree attrition you have experienced over the last 11 years. Our designers make every effort to select trees that meet our clients needs while withstanding our very unique climate. Unfortunately, the opportunity for plant and tree loss does occur, especially with intense summers like we had in 2020 and highly active monsoon seasons like we have experienced this year. We appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts.

I had a few different companies out to give me quotes for my backyard and pool. One severely over quoted me and the other never got back to me with a quote. I had the best experience with Blooming Desert. From speaking with Carlos on the phone in June of 2020, to meeting in person to discuss ideas in July, and then having a virtual meeting to go over the architectural design and make adjustments in August it was all fantastic. Carlos told me they were booking at the end of January and I signed my contract and paid my deposit. He was in touch periodically when necessary and my project actually started about a week early. Kenneth's team was there at 7am on a Monday morning where it rained and snowed (yes, in Scottsdale) that day. Kenneth went door to door to let my neighbors know about my project and to give his card if anyone had any questions or concerns. My neighbors said I had the best people at my house when they'd see them coming and going. Crews were at my house at 7am daily, and often until 5:30, until my project was complete. My landscaping was all done within a week! Kenneth's team is awesome and everyone really cares that things are done properly so there are no drainage issues. Kenneth has excellent communication as well and he was gone a couple days and had Luke overseeing my project. Kenneth introduced me to Luke and he was great as well. My pool took a bit due to some custom tile I wanted that was on back order and of course shipped from Texas during their blizzards. Dan managed my pool project and he was also an excellent communicator and kept me informed every step of the way. He even came right out at 7am the morning after I had a question I texted him about my pool once it was filled. I had great interactions with Donna who does the billing and Geo in the service department as well as I've had my 30 and 60 day checkups on my yard. Everyone has been great and you definitely get what you pay for. I'd say this is my first project I've ever done where I didn't feel like I was the one managing it. It was great. My backyard looks like a postcard! Thanks again to you all!

I met one of Blooming Desert's construction managers at a local restaurant and told him about some landscape issues I was having and he told me that his company could handle the problem and to give him a call and gave me his card. I called Victor Arias and he said he was driving and could handle the call but would call me when he was in the office. No call was ever made. Unreliable organization.

I would normally appreciate the response, but I was given this same apology and story after the ball was dropped the first time.
Mistakes happen, I get it. I'm all for second chances, which is why I agreed to give your company another chance 7 weeks after the first meeting. At the end of the day, the ball was dropped again, with no communication.
In all honesty, I would be a fool to give you a third chance and spend a large amount of money towards any future projects. I'm sure you are understanding.Helpful 6Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

Hi Christian.
First of all, we would like to say how sorry we are that this has been your experience. We make every effort to ensure that our clients receive the best experience possible by providing excellent service, thoughtful design and high-level management throughout the installation process. These are the things that are typically mentioned in feedback that we receive from clients. Unfortunately, you were not given the opportunity to move through that process and we are sorry to hear that this was not your experience. We understand that you have decided to move forward with another company. However, if there is anything we can do or if you would like to speak with someone on our leadership team, please don't hesitate to let us know.
Thank you for feedback and best of luck moving forward.Jan 21, 2019Previous reviewI will preface this review with saying that I had high hopes after having Blooming Desert come out to give me a design for my pool/yard. They spoke big game and had me excited at what could be if I went with them to build my pool and remodel my backyard. I was told I would have a design within 2 weeks and long story short, it is 4 months later I still do not have any plans.
First I was told they would come measure the yard the first week, in which no one came. Next I did not hear back for 6 weeks despite four emails and multiple phone calls. Finally was put in touch with the individual who came out to my house during the individual consultation and he was apologetic and said he dropped the ball but would send someone out within the next week to measure. Long story short, no one came and no one has contacted me since.
I could get upset over this, but in the end I chose to take it as a nightmare avoided. If they cannot follow through on simple plans to get you to sign the line for a $60k project, I'd hate to imagine how they handle the actual project.
Feel free to reach out to me for more details if you are planning to build a pool or remodel your landscape and I will give you more details about my experience. I ended up going with Refresh Pools to build my pool and the owner Ryan has been responsive even over the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays. I am not trying to push business any certain way, but felt my review would not be complete without giving my full story as to who I went with and why.

We had Blooming Desert plan and install all our landscaping and pool for our new home in Wickenburg Ranch. Michael did a great job in laying our our concept and add a few things we overlooked. Greg and and landscape crew were unbelievable in their work ethic and attention to detail. What a great crew and the yard looks amazing with the rock and placement of all the trees and plants. Dan is working on our pool now and expect to be completed shortly.
I would highly recommend this company for any landscaping or pool installation you are contemplating. I recommended them to several people here that are building their new homes

We wanted to take time to write a review of Blooming Desert and share our experience with their pool and landscape divisions. After much thought and hesitation we decided we wanted to totally change our back yard. We decided we wanted a pool with attached spa, but more importantly we wanted a total back yard redesign that would provide us with a resort style experience in our own back yard.
After getting several bids it became clear that there were very few pool builders that had the expertise in landscape to provide a complete package. We wanted someone to help us with a comprehensive design that specified plants, decking, pool and spa all laid out in a unique design.
Our first experience with Blooming Desert was with Matt Manning our designer and landscape architect. We can't say enough about how great Matt was. He came to our home and really listened to what we wanted. He took exact measurements so his design would be specific and accurate. When we met with Matt to see his presentation we were so pleased and excited with what Matt had designed. Matt had provided exactly what we had in mind, but didn't know how to bring to life. With very few tweaks we were on board for the construction phase of our project. We have to say that Matt was always there for us and we could rely on him to help at every turn. Even when things were not specifically his responsibility Matt was there. Without his help we would not have had as positive an experience.
Moving into the construction phase we were amazed at how quickly the men from the pool division started making the major modifications to our yard. There was so much demolition to be done; the removal of a large cement patio, the removal of 3 large trees, the removal of several large landscape mounds and crushed granite, and a general revealing of the grade of the yard to provide proper drainage. The team of Salvator and Elijah did an amazing job and were so nice and easy to work with. They corrected some old work done by others and made sure everything was ready for the pool excavation.
Before excavation Pete Renslow and Dan Tryon our pool project managers made sure the pool layout was accurate and to our liking. We are so appreciative to both of them for all they did during the pool construction. We were able to make a small adjustment to the curve of one of the pool walls and they were always there during the process to answer all our questions. Our many thanks go to Pete and Dan.
Blooming Desert does have an interesting business model in which two divisions; pool, and landscape need to coordinate closely for the final product a new back yard. We did find that communication between the divisions could improve, yet even with a few hiccups along the way the final project was great.
We want to thank Joe Marks and his team from the landscape division that finalized much of what ended up making our backyard a true paradise. The landscape men had an amazing amount of work to do. They completed all the decking, fire pit, pool wall, plantings, irrigation and landscape rock in an unbelievable short time. It couldn't have been done without Felix the foreman of the construction crew. Without Felix the attention to detail and the final touches that made everything work would have never been done. We are very particular and Felix was always patient and kind making sure everything was done to our satisfaction. We can't say enough about how helpful he was.
With any construction project of this size there are bound to be issues along the way. This was true with our project, but the thing that was always true was that the people at Blooming Desert always had our back. They are extremely interested in making sure you will be happy. Even after the project is complete they are involved in helping you learn how to maintain your pool. Brian follows up with you for weeks after making sure you know as much as you can about your pool system.
Once again our thanks to all the people at Blooming Desert that made our back yard a success.
