This fair, held at the Garfield Park Conservatory, had all things gardening -- exhibitors, vendors (organic products, plants, jewelry, books), demonstrations, guest speakers, and food. And in my experience, people who are into gardening tend to be considerate, good-hearted people so the crowd was definitely bearable.
I volunteered and apparently, with this being the 16th fair, they have worked out all the kinks. Everything was organized and things went smoothly. I was also happy to see that they provided us with lunch. (A non-hungry volunteer is a happy volunteer.)
GreenNet implemented their "One Seed Chicago" initiative, handing out sunflower seeds to guests. Hmmm.....where shall I plant my sunflower seeds? This is gonna be fun...
I will definitely attend next year to watch a composting demonstration and buy some fun gardening/green stuff.
What a neat event. Held at beautiful Garfield Park Conservatory, there were a ton of great exhibitors, music, food, and of course, great gardening demonstrations. I wish I could remember the name of the woman who I saw giving the composting demo, because eh was particularly great. After picking up a bunch of info, I can't wait to get my garden started.
