We had a great experience renting from them. They gave great instructions from the booking and while we didn't have issues, everything was clean and better than expected. Book thru them directly and save money ! We stayed at Sunset Vista

We rented a location from the company in February. Unfortunately the rental company itself is both non-responsive and rude when prompted with needs and questions.
Despite calling to assure that all information was correct the day of our stay, when we arrived the cabin lock code had been changed. The emergency line respondent was rude despite it being their mistake.
After the unfortunate mistake of leaving a valuable in the cabin, the staff were unwilling to even so much as call the owners to inquire about its location and whether or not it could still be there, reporting only that the "cleaning lady didn't see it." They were rude and refuses to follow up each time they were contacted.
I would highly recommend that both owners and renters look elsewhere if seeking any level of customer service. I would expect better if choosing to rent out my own property. Do not trust this company with your time or your properties.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

Alyn - First of all, the new code to the cabin was texted and emailed to you. We contacted the cleaner about your missing item. She even checked her vacuum to see if she vacuumed it up. The owners who were the next ones in the cabin were contacted to look for the item as well. Nothing has been found. In addition, you have been quite rude to the staff when calling. DO NOT BOOK HERE. Our rental (angel cabin #2 or on Airbnb Rocky Ridge at Deep Creek) was infested with bed bugs. My husband and I drove over 6 hours after work to Bryson City and finally got settled in bed at 2am. I woke up at 5 am to my husband telling me that we are getting eaten alive. We shine the light on the bed to easily several dozen bed bugs and our blood smeared on the sheets.
We immediately jump out of bed, shower, and start throwing everything that is washable into the dryer on high heat. We found bugs in the bathroom several feet away from the bed, indicating this has been an issue for quite some time.
We brought our pet with us and after our items were dry, literally stood outside for hours trying to figure out our next move concerned about bringing bugs to another location. When we finally got ahold of the office due to being closed at the wee hours of the morning, she offered us a refund. That's kind, but we were still without housing. She told us that it's hard to find somewhere this time of year....
Eventually 2 hours later they called us back to offer us a night at one of their other cabins on our next vacation.
To be clear, we will never be back. Especially after reading that this is not the only cabin infested. We have spent an entire day treating and thoroughly searching through all of our items (some of which we found live bugs). Minimum, we would expect a reimbursement for the supplies we needed to purchase as well as a whole day missed of vacation and needing to book a new more expensive place last minute.

Absolute TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE!!! From the second we walked in, we should have turned around and left. Let me start by saying communication with this company is ridiculous. Dealing with Kelli has been a nightmare.
We walked into a filthy home (rat droppings everywhere, dead rat in a trap behind the refrigerator, broken oven, stink bugs everywhere, spiders everywhere inside, long hair all over the tub/showers telling me it was never cleaned from the last renters, dishwasher had a smell coming from it, dirty dishes in the dishwasher, coffee maker smelt so bad cleaning it wasn't even an option).
Our 2nd day of our stay we came back to realize they had let someone in the house without notifying us (of course they claimed they didn't, but who else would come in the house, leave 3 lights on that I cut off before I left, leave 2 doors open inside that I closed before leaving, leave the laundry room bifold door open, remove the rat trap with the dead rat in it, then leave and not lock the deadbolt back???).
Beyond all these issues, the fire pit was so small you couldn't get 1 piece of wood in it to burn, so we weren't able to enjoy a fire like planned.
To top it off, after we left I received an email stating that we had broken the gas logs in the fireplace and they had charged my card $315 to replace the logs since we tried to conceal the fact that we broke them. My wife can't stand the smell of gas logs, so we never opened the screen or even lit the gas logs... It blows my mind that not only did this company charge me to replace something we didn't use or touch, but that they had the audacity to claim we broke them and tried to hide it from them. As soon as I received this email I called them and Kelli was not helpful @ all. She continued to blame us, told me she would talk to maintenance about it, never did, then after calling back several times she told me "this happens all the time", "your not getting away without paying for this", & then proceeded to yell @ me and hung up on me. Customer service is out the window with this lady without a doubt.
I wish I had read the online reviews before renting from this company. And I also think it's funny that they come on every bad review and completely try to blame the renters for everything that happens. It sounds like these bad apples will eventually ruin themselves, but until then I'd love to make everyone aware of what you may be dealing with. Nothing like spending thousands of dollars to stay the weekend with them only for them to falsely charge you for things you didn't even touch. I hope the $315 they stole from me does them well in the future! I'll never spend another dime with these crooks and hope no one else does either. Big Timber Lodge Stay 12/17-12/21/21
I should have known there were going to be problems when I was lied to about the dishwasher not working. I'm still waiting for someone to get back to me regarding all the problems we had.
1. Dishwasher didn't work. Apparently it hasn't worked in awhile. I was told when I called they had left me a message. I still don't have a voice mail.
2. Fireplace didn't work. They did send two young men out who couldn't repair it and stated they would return later in the day. They did not return nor did they call and advise they would not be returning.
3. Dryer made an awful sound.
4. RAT dropping in kitchen, basement and around the fireplace. I was sitting in the living room early one morning before anyone else was up and you could hear the rats in the wall near the fireplace.
5. Upstairs bathroom leaks into kitchen. The rug in front of the sink had felt damp on and off but I thought it was related to having to handwash dishes. I was washing dishes the morning we left and water started dripping from the ceiling. My husband was upstairs taking a shower.
The only positive-the cabin had spectacular views.
I will NOT utilize Great Smoky Cabin Rentals again. Customer service and timely responses are sadly lacking.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

Regina, I am sorry it has taken us so long to respond to this review. We left you a voice mail about the dishwasher not working. The fireplace quit working because the Gas Company didn't deliver the fuel in time. We tried to get them to Rush it out but we are at there mercy. The cleaner found no droppings in the cabin after you left. We even called Orkin to go out and look and set bait just to be safe. The upstairs bathroom shower only leaks when the curtain isn't closed properly. We are sorry that you didn't enjoy your stay. But we did follow up on all of your complaints. When Maintenance went out for the other issues they heard nothing when they ran there dryer and we have had no further complaints on any of these issues.

Great Smokys Cabin Rental,
I must say the drive was alot of whinny twinny roads but once you arrive the landscape was beautiful. It's very clean, nice decor and the fire place made it home away from home. We actually did not go on any hikes. Don't know where you got that information. The house is not maintained for pest. Including spiders. The porch was loaded with them.

Sally - When we received your complaint about bites, we immediately had our Orkin Pest Control Technician go out to the cabin. They found nothing. We have never had any complaints about spiders or any other insects. We very much believe that you received your bites when hiking in the mountains. This is very common and we suggest always using bug repellent.

I had about 10. Husbands had about 10 also, maybe do a better job with spraying and be consistent about it. I know it's the woods. But come on!! Rented Shooting Star. They tried to tell us it was chigger bites. Ended up at the Walk in clinic. Doctor said spider bites!! What a vacation! We didn't go hiking until the last day of our visit. It was spiders on the deck. They were on the recliners.

The folks at GSCR saved our vacation. After a nightmare booking scenario through HomeAway (don't do it, it's a trap) we were left 1.5 K miles from home with nowhere to stay. One call to Cathie at GSCR's office and we were off to stay in the cabin of our dreams while being treated kindly and professionally. I will do all of my future bookings in Bryson City with them.

We booked a nice little cabin through them on Airbnb. The process was easy and they gave a very detailed description of everything. They contacted me directly several times. They gave EXCELLENT clear details of how to get to the cabin. We really enjoyed the location and the view was amazing. Everything they told us was exactly as stated. They were easy to get a hold of when 1 faucet had a drip. They only thing I was not happy with was the dog hair left on the pillows, chair pads, furniture, rugs etc from previous renters.I paid a cleaning fee and dont think I should have to be cleaning dog hair off my clothes etc. My husband and I both have bad allergies plus the fact that we dont have furry pets so it grossed me out. I would rent from them again but know now I have to ask if animals were there prior to our stay. Seems ridiculous I have to pay for cleaning when it was not clean upon arrival.

Amy, thank you for your feedback. We have many cabins that are not pet friendly so if you do stay with us again, please be sure to let us know that you need a cabin that is not pet friendly. We have spoken to the housekeeper of that cabin.
