What has been amazing this property has the nicest staff working here. They are friendly and very kind and helpful. This property is not small in rooms, what I found refreshing is the staff remembers me. The morning breakfast was great and it held me through lunch. I like the idea of having breakfast as when I am in a tour, I don't need to worry. I love this property and the convenience of walking through Florence. There is a nice coffee shop on the corner, a bank to get euros and restaurants right across the street. I will definitely come here again!

We stayed in the family room while visiting with our two children. The room was configured awkwardly and was not comfortable for the kids. Dusty as well. We had a water leak that was eventually fixed with a bucket under it. The included breakfast was unfortunately not good. It all appeared thawed from frozen as the eggs and fruit sat in water daily. The staff was very nice but I believe that hotel and food management made this a negative experience and we would not return.

This is my second stay. First trip three of us shared a room. We were put into a large single room with a half wall (vertical) dividing the space. On one side was a double bed, on the other a desk and a couch that folded down into a bed, with a partition that allowed the third person privacy. There was also a small reading nook with books over the couch/bed. Staff turned the sofa into a bed while we were out. The room was decorated in gold and red and had a nice, comfortable feel.
On our second visit we rented two rooms 'with views' for a total of 4 people. On the 6th floor, you could see over the city from the one window in the corner of the room. Not sure next time I would pay extra for said view. They were decorated in shades of orange with cloth wall coverings and wood floors. These rooms feel 'older' and could use some TLC such as trimming fibers that have come loose from the wall coverings and giving the bathroom grout a scrub, but otherwise they were quite clean and neat with fluffy towels and study sheets. Soaps, shampoo and other personal care items were in a little basket in the bathroom, and two bottle of complimentary water are left on the desk. There is a mini-bar fridge (items for a fee) under the desk, a small TV above the desk, a suitcase rack and closet. Coat hooks are conveniently located behind the door.
On our last visit some remodeling was underway and there is now a restaurant on the street side of the hotel. We tried to stop in for dessert at the end of day one and were told, in a rather gruff manner, to go to the bar. When we got to the bar we were told to go to the restaurant. We explained the situation and the barkeep graciously accommodated us. Several other people filtered in while we were there. A couple of tables had previously been occupied and no attempt to remove the dirty glassware was made while we were there. We ordered two desserts and received three. Not sure how that happened but the waiter seemed determined so we accepted the third.
The reception area has a new seating area that looks quite comfortable and there were several people using the space during our visit. The breakfast room, just past the bar, remains the same as on our first visit with some updated furnishings in the second room which is comfortable and quite lovely. The breakfast buffet includes yogurts, cereals, juices, pastry, breads, eggs, hot and cold meats, cheese and salad items. The staff bring your coffee of choice or hot tea. Be sure to specify if you want milk with your american coffee or tea, or order a cappuccino or caffe latte. Wait to be seated at the doorway (stay to your left not to block staff trying to get to the coffee bar) and give the hostess your room number.
There is one large elevator to the left of reception to bring your bags up and down and two smaller elevators just before reception that fit about 4 people without bags. The reception staff were all quite helpful and friendly. We paid to park a car at the hotel and they registered the vehicle with the ZTL so we would not be fined (ticketed) for driving in the restricted area of the city to reach the hotel. Tourist maps are available on request.
There is a 'relaxation' pod available to guests at no cost, just past the small gym. We all tried it with different results. Some liked it, others not so much. You sit in the pod, press the 'close curtain' button and choose your preference of 'relax', 'energize', 'balance' or 'dream'. Music plays from speakers on either side of you hear and a video plays on a screen in front. Change the volume on the control panel. I found it uncomfortable but that 'energize' setting really did get me going.
Easily reached from the train station and close to major sights, the hotel is clean and (most of) the staff were quite friendly.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 26013501059Oct 9, 2015
In our recent tour of Italy, this was one of the better hotels we stayed at. It had a large lobby, with security at night, big rooms and a nice bathroom.
We did have a bit of trouble with the a/c, but that was intermittent and for the most part it was fine.
The windows was large and opened. The TV was nice and had tons of channels (only news in English). There was a pants press, hair dryer and lots of closet space.
Nothing too bad. I would have liked a hotel a bit more in town, but it wasn't a terrible walk.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Mark W.New Orleans, LA7535774Jun 6, 2016
By European standards, this hotel has spacious rooms, functional appliances and excellent service. In my
exerience, it rates 4-stars. There is a continental breakfast, and is close to decent dining. It is about a 30 minute walk to the main tourist areas. We were able to set up independent day tours through the front desk. I recommend this hotel to anyone who needs these services. It is not a posh 5-star destination hotel, but a step up from
smaller boutique hotels.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jason J.Cañon City, CO121107538Sep 24, 2015
No huge complaints about our stay here. We did a tour and stayed here for 2 nights, so everything was handled thru them. It was within walking distance of a lot of sights, but the area itself seemed a little seedy. There was a laundromat next door, if that tells you anything.
The bathroom here was fine, and the bed was ok. We were pretty sure they shut the AC down completely during the day until about 6 or 7pm as it didn't seem to work at all every day until it suddenly did. We had a great view of what seemed like the employee parking lot.
The windows opened at least, which was nice since there was no air flow in the room.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Thomas R.Mount Juliet, TN02Dec 22, 2018
Sole reason that I would recommend Grand Hotel Adriatico is that I did not discover that I was missing anything until I came back home to the states. I had brought over $400 in cash, in case we needed to exchange it while in Florence. I had left the money in my laptop bag on a high shelf under a blanket in the wardrobe. A member of the staff thought it was okay to go through our things and take all the money that I had. I doubt that I will get the $400+ back. I would not recommend staying at this unless you take everything you bring with you to Florence with you each day.

The location is convenient to the train station. The rooms are outdated and basic. The bed was comfortable enough to get a good night's sleep. The AC works and the room was clean. It was a good value and sufficient for our two night stay.

So far we had to change rooms because of leaky toilet (it can happen anywhere) However, free internet is not any good, the room has no usb connection anywhere and our safe is locked, the bath sink drains very slowly. I hope the shower works well. The sheets are clean & so is the room but this would be like a Hampton inn.

Great hotel. Beautifully decorated and in a decent location. Rooms are larger than expected especially since it's Italy. The continental breakfast was above average and the staff were nice. The only issue I had was there "fitness center" I was so excited for this place to have a gym and It's two treadmills, a punching bag and a combo weight machine.
