Had a simple nail puncture in our tire
The representative said they would not repair the tire because it was manufactured prior to 2010!! There is plenty of tread and and sidewalls are in great shape. He went on to say the only option was to replace all 4 tires !!
Seriously ?
We drove up the street to another tire repair shop and they took great care of us.
DO NOT patronize this ripoff place.
There are many options in the Ballard areaHelpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

We did not make that statement. We would not repair a tire if the whole was near or in the sidewall. As well, if there were signs of the tire overheating due to low air pressure,or any other integrity issue related with the tire, or tread depth being too low. The recommendation of four would be based on an all wheel drive/four wheel drive application if the tires weren't within 20 percent tread of each other. Avoid. I ordered a set of snow tires and wheels with a full set of TPMS sensors. Rather than install the new sensors on the new wheels, they transferred the OEM sensors to the new wheels and installed the new, uncalibrated sensors in my OEM wheels. I just switched back and couldn't calibrate the sensors which required me to take it to the dealership who discovered the ruse. It took them a while to figure out what happened but, $150 in labor to them and it is finally fixed. This should have been a no-op for me.
I would call this the height of laziness except that it must have been a bit of effort to do all of that to avoid calibration. It's simply bad engineering. It's also dishonest.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

I checked with my store in Ballard, & was informed that you purchased your tire & wheel assemblies from Tirerack inclusive of tpms sensors. When we put on the tire/wheel assembly we 'woke up' the sensors. I was told you returned the next day with the tpms light on. We reset, & saw no other issues, & sent you on your way. We didn't swap sensors. It sounds like there was a problem with the sensors in the tire/wheel package you purchased, not what we had done. My thought is that because it was a 2017, the sensors may not have been correct. Sorry you had the hassle, but I don't see where we are at fault? This is hands down the worst experience I've ever had !!! I called ahead told them the vehicle I had and my problem, they said they had an appointment for me and they would repair my tire , I paid the towing company that they referred me to $200 to tow my van 4 miles , once arriving and their evaluation, they said it will be several hours to get a tire for my van , I said I called three different places all three said they have my size tires and this place was the only one that would take an appointment, horrible customer service and lies is what I received
Update to manager: read my review I did call ahead!! And I did tell them my tire size!!!! And your employee said they had my size !! Your business absolutely deserves less then a one star rating !!! Your comment alone proves thatHelpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

I'm sorry that we did not have the tire in stock that you needed. It'S nearly impossible to have every tire for everything all the time. I see that you gave the tow company we called for you a 5 star review. I'm glad we at least did that right. I don't believe we deserve a one star review for not having the tire. If you would have asked on the phone we would have verified stock prior to being the frustration of your day. Shelly was the best person to work with. She was knowledgeable, didn't talk down to us, was very funny and incredibly kind. She alone made spending so much money on new tires worth it. Coupled with the reasonable time it took to get our tires replaced and our alignment fixed (about 3 and a half hours without an appointment), I will definitely be back to this location.

We definitely know we have a gem in Shelly. She is a genuine person, & a great asset. I'm glad you decided to stop & try our services. I'm so glad you were pleased. Look us up again in your time of need. Thanks for the business. Sincerely, Eric McHenry - Cecilia G.Irving, TX1414Jul 19, 2017
JUST THE WORST! Made an appointment for their summer care package -- assuming it was the same as the spring care package that their sales people told me about a couple months earlier. They took two hours to inspect it and I THINK change the oil. Diagnosed a whole slew of problems that would cost almost $2,000. Told me if I didn't do something, I would risk catastrophic damage to my car. I told them I would take it somewhere else for a second opinion. Then they said I couldn't pick up my car for another two hours because the mechanic was on break.
My boyfriend ended up fixing the AC himself for $40 (less than the price I paid for them to look at it, and a repair they quoted at $394), took it somewhere else to get the fluids topped off and checked for free (and there were no unusual, urgent issues), and got my tires replaced at Les Schwab where they had a deal on moderately-rated tires.
I ended up paying $100 bones for them to essentially hold my car for 4 hours. They were completely unclear on the services they provided. And I still don't know why I paid $50 for an inspection/oil and lube change when their website says $30.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

We had told you if you dropped off the vehicle, we could work it in, & get it done by the end of the day. obviously, there was some mis-communication. We stand behind our reasons for the service recommendations. The difference in cost on the oil change was due to type of oil for your vehicle. Maybe, we could have done a better job communicating what was needed, & the priority. We hope you find a service facility that fits your needs. Sincerely, Eric McHenry - 393594152Apr 7, 2012
Tires, I'm TIE-RED of you.
Stop being such weak little babies and picking up big, fat stupid nails/screws/random spiky things in the crappy Seattle streets and going flat, flatter than my hair after Zumba, flatter than my chest in junior high, flatter than the pancakes I wish I was eating right this second.
All of a sudden the universe decides I need to spend more time with the jolly folks at Goodyear Auto and so I have come here three times in the last 4 months, to fix whatever ails my wheels.
Service has been consistently friendly, helpful and straight-forward, for this I am grateful.
Thursday's flat brought me back to hopefully fix a tire I purchased last month. I dropped the tire off and they called me in an hour and a half, tire fixed and ready to replace, no charge, just quick, efficient service.
I don't know if I'd use these folks for anything other than tires but for that purpose they have consistently been aces.Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 6Oh no 0 - Sid B.Santa Barbara, CA1052154Mar 15, 2016
WOW WOW WOW AVOID!!!!!!!!!!! Okay: I wish, I WISH I was an elite so this would go on the top of the list but I'm not. Hopefully this will help you somehow.
I called ahead to get a quote for some axel replacements, new belts, and a new alternator swap. The guy sent me a simple quote around $515 and said they could have it done by the end of the day. I was shocked they could do it so fast and brought my car right over and dropped it off. We talked about the price and it all sounded good so I walked to a coffee shop and sat down.
I received a call about 30 minutes after I dropped off my car, "Welp. I have some bad news. This axel is seized in the hub." "What does that mean?" "It means we tried to break it loose but it wouldn't budge." "Okay, can you try anything else?" "Oh yeah, we can try heating it up and popping it out of there." Okay, you should do that..." "Okay, I'll call you back."
I should have stopped there, really. My knowledge about cars is limited but to suggest trying something else and they say, "Oh yeah..." should have been a tell tale. Fast forward to the next day, I get a call at 1145am (supposed to be "sometime earlier in the morning") and Chris says, "Hey Sid, just thought I'd let you know you have another problem. Your lower ball joint is torn." I had the entire car inspected by a mechanic before I bought it, no ball joint tears. I looked it up and the job that they did requires removing of the ball joint before they replace the axel. I'm making the (what I would say to be healthy) assumption that they broke it and charged me for the replacement and labor.
When I get the call at 2pm to come pick up my car I walk in and, upon arriving with card in had, am informed that the price I will now be paying is $1099.75...I was pretty angry but walked over to by car, got in, drove it to their next-door neighbor (Grease Monkey), who inspected my entire car, changed my oil, oil filter, air filter, transmission and front differential fluid, vacuumed my car, washed my windows, and cleaned my dash, for $139.16.
I really don't know what the moral of the story is besides this was the worst mechanic experience I have ever had. Please, please, please do not go here. Please.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

I'm posting this publicly because I got no response on my private message. You originally called for a quote on replacing your customer supplied axles & fan belts, & an alternator quote parts & labor. First of all, after noticing that you had an alternator in the car, that first phone call was to revise the estimate lower because we were installing your part. After we started to proceed, we then called you because the first driveshaft wasn't coming out. This does happen occasionally. We informed you that it would require replacing the front wheel bearing & the additional cost. We didn't get to the second driveshaft until the next day based on the additional work needed on the first one. When we were replacing the second driveshaft, we saw the tear in the ball joint boot that retains the grease. This could easily be missed on any inspection, because it's not totally exposed to inspect prior to us replacing the axle. Again, we called with the additional cost & time to replace. If we break something while doing a repair, we replace it at no charge to the customer. This was not the case. I'm sorry that you feel the way that you do, but I don't see anywhere where we have serviced you in an unfair manner. Sincerely, Eric McHenry - Nathan R.Seattle, WA511914Aug 19, 2012
Shocked... I am in absolute shock right now. Beware of this place!
I'm a very nice, trusting guy and have a tendency to take people on their word, especially if they are very friendly. I brought my car into Elliot Tires and Service Center to have the alignment checked. I knew it was off because unfortunately my wife hit a curb and it was out of whack. So I asked them to inspect it for us. The attendant was very friendly and had me sold before they even looked at the car. So when she called me about an hour later with an $890 estimate, even though seemingly excessive, I trusted it was accurate.
At first I was floored by the total because I really didn't think there was that much damage done to the car. I asked how long it'd take to do the repairs and they told me the work would carry through till the next day. I told them I needed to use the car tomorrow, but then they said that my struts were bent and that my ball joint was broken and it was unsafe to drive, and offered me to use their vehicle while ours was being worked on. That sounded thoughtful until I saw it was a beat-up, hideous looking, old raggedy 1980 or 90 something Nissan. The statement that our 2007 Jeep was unsafe to drive also confused me a little because we have been driving the vehicle for months with no problems after the small incident with the curb.
At this point they put enough fear in me that I was willing to pay the $890. However, my wife, as shrewd as she is, thought everything seemed a little too shady for her taste, as if they were trying to not allow us to take our car home. We discussed it and decided to ask to see the damage for ourselves before we made any decisions.
When we first arrived back at Elliot Tires and Service Center I asked them to show me the estimate. Right off the bat I noticed discrepancies in the hand written form. There were inaccurate calculations and their was extra work, non-related to the front end of the vehicle, written towards the bottom of the estimate. The total estimate now on this hand written form was over $1700! What in the...?! How did it go from $890 to over $1700!?!
So first I questioned the calculation errors, which was about $200 in mis-calculations. Then I questioned the extra non-needed work at the bottom of the estimate which was about $650. According to their new calculations done on their little table calculator that brought the total with taxes down to $1090. I was curious as to why none of this stuff was being entered into their computer system.
Now we ask to see the damage. They stared at us, then at each other, with dumb founded looks on their faces for about 30 seconds. They agreed and the mechanic took us out to our car. He pointed out the ball joint and my wife and I looked as hard as we could and we could not visually see any damage what so ever. You want to know what his test was? With the car up on the rack he shook the tire vigorously with his hands and said "...see that? I shouldn't be able to wiggle it that easy. I'm not a two ton car." We were sooo confused, what kind of test was this!?
We finally made up some story about not having the funds, at which they responded they had financing available... at which we concluded was the reason why the estimate needed to be over $1000, so that they can make money off financing for their customers... we finally got them to give up by making them think we were coming back the next day.
In reality we went to get a second opinion. Guess what the new place (recommended to us by a reliable source) told us... There were no parts needed at all. It only needed a simple alignment for $120. All this time Elliot Tires and Service Center was trying get us to pay over $1000 for a $120 repair! Wow!!!
Then I noticed all theses other reviews on Yelp... yeah it seems like they are running a shady business here. So beware people, don't go here for any work on your car. They will come off very nice and you will believe them when they tell you that your car needs extra work, especially if you want to keep your car running well, but they are using you.
PS... before I got my car back from Elliot Tires and Service Center I ended up getting an oil change which was supposed to include a free tire rotation... they were never rotated.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Angela B.Lynnwood, WA3744971236Nov 30, 2015
i've only been here twice but this past time I had a really bad experience and feel that either they tried to scam me or they are just not good with auto repair (either option is not good). The last time I came here, I had an adjustment and there were no issues. This time I had an allignment & also mentioned that I had some squeeling when turning corners and could they check this out. So after waiting 1.5 hours (and I had made an appointment) they finally came out and talked to me. Said they had done the alignment and there was some "toe issue" that they needed to fix. The total for aligment & fixing this toe issue was $160. They also told me that they thought they squeeling noise my car was making was because of my power steering. They said the cost for a new power steering was $500 and then a power steering flush was $89, so they wanted $589 for that. I asked them to the fix the toe issue but that I couldn't afford the power steering issue right now. It still took them another 1.5 hours to fix this toe issue that they found while doing the alignment.
On the way home I was driving by First Choice and decided to just pop in & see how much they would quote me for the same power steering issue. When I explained the situation to them, the guy at First Choice had some red flags, as if you buy a new power steering, then I wouldn't need to a power steering flush (I asked the guy at Elliott twice if both were necessary and he said yes). He asked if he could have the keys to my car real quick, he'd drive it into the garage, and that it may be as simple as tightening a belt. He took my car for 10 min and all it was was a belt that needed tightening as he had thought, and he did that for me for free.
I will never go back to Elliott as I feel like they either tried to scam me or are idiots when it comes to fixing cars.Helpful 5Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0Business owner information

I investigated the issue you speak of in the review. I found that our technician did recommend tightening the belt before condemning the pump. My service manager missed that note & conveyed the wrong message to you. He missed a step not confirming the written notes verbally with the technician. I can understand how you feel about the experience. It was human error, not an attempt to deceive. The issue has been addressed at the store. I'm truly sorry that we have caused our relationship to end. We truly value our customers. Sincerely, Eric McHenry - Dan L.Seattle, WA51104Jan 30, 2016
came in for a simple oil change. Guy at counter was nice enough and said my car would be ready in 2 hours. Granted, I didn't have an appointment but went and ran some errands and figured I was good. Called 2.5 hours later and was told that my car hadn't even been serviced yet and it would be another 2-2.5 hours.
I told them not to do anything and went an got my car. I was not very happy when I got there and it showed in my language. For that I am sorry, but there was no apology, no offer to re-book at another time or incentive for me to come back.
on the way out the guy behind the counter yelled sarcastically " have a great day" as the door was closing.
Suffice to say I will not be coming back here. I would have been fine with the truth right off the bat and said I will come back another time but they fully expected me to waste a full day with no car and they had NO Plans to call me to tell me it would be 5 hours.

I apologize for not following thru. You are correct in saying that we should have scheduled you a different day. We should have also initiated the conversation on running late, instead of you calling. I'm sure the sarcastic comment came after the language you said that you used, but definitely doesn't make it right. The team has been counseled in regards to how important it is to follow thru with our commitments. I apologize.Things change fast in our business. Sincerely, Eric McHenry
