Excellent Mexican food or lunch and dinner with a nice bar for cocktails. Later in the night they remove the tables and the space become a dance floor with live Latin music. Very nice.

Came here for a birthday party and had a nice time. For the group, it's $100 per person for open hour, appetizers and one entree (a great deal for the city). The appetizer boards had a little bit of everything (Buffalo wings, potato croquettes, etc) nothing Mexican funny enough. They made fresh Guac in front of you which was nice.
The entrees themselves were decently sized and flavorful. I had the enchiladas de mole and they were good but didn't taste like it had much seasoning.
The waiters were very attentive and constantly kept our drinks full. I recommend the spicy margs for sure. By 11, the place turns into a Latin night club of sorts - a lot of fun.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 1Business owner information

I came here for a friends birthday the friday before Halloween and it was a nice vibe. The DJ was great, the music was good up until that point, a live band came on after, it was all great.
I did not eat here, they took all the tables away shortly after we arrived, so no update on food. However, the drinks were overpriced and the bartender was definitely overwhelmed. Their music is usually on point and you can dance. So its always nice to pop in.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

Amanda we would love to thank you for taking time to leave us a detailed review. We pride ourselves in being able to provide a nice ambiance and unique experience to all of our customers here at Gonzalez Y Gonzalez.
Jan 14, 2015Previous reviewIm not a fan of mexican food but this place was pretty good.
DRINKS:
Not too expensive. They have a great happy hour! I drank mojitos [which i do not think were on happy hour], and they were delicious. The mot 10 bucks each for a strong tall glass.
FOOD:
When you come in they give you chips and salsa. Their salsa tastes different, give it a try. it is definitely really good. They have good food. Nothing that blows you out of the water. Their quesadillas and burritos are very good.
SERVICE:
Great service. They know how to balance the line of attentive without being annoying.
PRICES:
Decent. Not too expensive but not the cheapest place in the world.
if you are in the area, go on in! - AJ W.Potomac, MD0183Dec 10, 2023
The cover charge and price of drinks and WATER is ridiculous. $20 to get in, and then you can even ask for a glass of water?? They force you to buy a bottle of water if you want WATER. That should be against the law.
The music is a little too loud and the laser lights don't feel safe to flash in our eyes. Very concerning. It's sad because the music is good and the vibes can be fun, but point the lasers at the ceiling or turn them off, and just lower the music a hair. Thanks.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

I visited this restaurant/club for my friends birthday and really enjoyed my time. The food was ok. Small menu, but the empanadas and tacos were pretty good. Table side guacamole is delicious and huge. I wouldn't come back for the food. It turns into a pretty fun dance club after 11.

There was a door charge to get in but we wanted to enjoy ourselves and the music. I believe it might have been 10 or 20 bucks.
Went later in the evening and didn't eat. Went to enjoy music and dancing! What a fun night. Salsa live music was on point. Lots of drinks and dancing! Enjoyed our time !Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jun 4, 2023
Came in with two friends on a Saturday night around 9 with a reservation. It was filled inside and definitely felt like a saturday night ready to party vibe with a younger crowd. They turn into a salsa club at 11:30, and they came around to the tables and gave us stamps to stay for the club turn over after dinner. Service was good. We had the guac and salsa with chips, chimichangas, a shrimp burrito, the chicken & steak fajitas, the love martini, and the mexican sea breeze. The drinks were decently tasty and definitely on the strong side, which is always nice. Food was good. Nothing mind blowing but we each enjoyed our meal. The guac was made fresh with a whole avocado at our table, which was tasty.
Finding my way to the bathroom was a fun adventure though, lots of hallways in that basement!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0Business owner information

Gonzalez y Gonzalez is an establishment located on Mercer St. in the Greenwich Village section of Manhattan. Accessible via various trains that include the B, D, F, 6, R, etc., it is close to the popular Angelika Movie Theater and blocks away from other hang-out spots and stores.
When I arrived to Gonzalez y Gonzalez, I was fascinated by the beautifully painted mural-styled art/pictures on the walls as well as their vibrantly colorful stage area. Gonzalez y Gonzalez has colorful decor, dope lightning fixtures / arrangements, a cool bar area, etc. It is clean and the bathroom facility is in the basement of the establishment - Please do not wait until you really have to go because it takes some minutes to reach the bathroom stalls-lol.
We went last Sunday and my friend made a dinner reservation for 7pm. Gonzalez y Gonzalez has multiple cocktails, appetizers, entrees & desserts. She had the Tequila Jumbo Shrimp (medium spicy) -dish was sauteed w/ red & green peppers, onions, tequila & served w/ white rice, avocado slices and garnished w/ crispy guajillo chili. I had the Crispy Skin Salmon - Pan Seared Salmon w/ garlic mashed potatoes sauteed asparagus & tortilla strips, garnished w/ cilantro & surrounded by Lobster Chipotle Sauce. We had such delicious, well-seasoned entrees. She let me taste some of her Mezcal Margarita, which was delightfully smoky & good tasting.
We then stayed for the 8pm Free Bachata Dance Class / Free Bachata Lesson w/ Dance Instructor Migdalia Santiago. It was a 30-minute dance lesson and staff cleared out the dining tables & seats to make room for us patrons to dance on the floor. Migdalia was fun, bubbly and full of positive, infectious energy as she led the Bachata Class / Bachata Dance Lesson. Migdalis let us know at the end of class that she instructs Salsa/Bachata dance at Gonzalez y Gonzalez on other days & times. For the duration of our visit, reggaeton music , meringue music, etc. blasted and people danced the evening away. If you like Salsa / Bachata Dancing, then this is a great place for you.
Hours of Operation -
Thursday - 4pm - 2am
Friday & Saturday - 4pm - 4am
Sunday - (Brunch 1pm-3pm) - 4pm - Midnight (Dinner / Dancing)
Happy Hour Everyday 4pm - 7pm
Free Salsa / Bachata Class- Dance Lesson is on Thursdays @ 9pm and on Sundays @ 8pm.
Gonzalez y Gonzalez also has live Salsa Bands on various days (check website for more information).
Please know that there is a cover charge on certain days if you come to Gonzalez y Gonzalez after certain evening hours - they also conduct bag checks. If you eat here, they automatically include a 20% gratuity in your bill (then place alternate gratuity options towards the bottom of the bill). Although I have mixed feelings about establishments that engage in this practice, we decided to pay the 20% as the food was really good.

Like other people I read the LOUD reviews as yea it's a club duh but man I'm not sure if the DJ is hard of hearing or their sound system is that bad but it can be dangerously LOUD at times when the DJ is playing. I grew up in Miami going to clubs and I've never experienced something that was so COMICALLY LOUD like this. When the band is on it's all good. They have to do something about that DJ it's nonsensical. Just turn it down a tad. Oh yea the food was solid and a great place to dance. And yes they are very aggressive about checking all of your belongings.

Don't come at 10:30pm on a Saturday cause you're gonna have to wait in line even if you're alone and your friends are already inside. Just wait. After 11pm they move out the tables so they can let in more people but it's really not worth standing in line for 30+ min which is why I said don't come at that time lol. Can't speak to the food but the ambiance is cool. Good music, long bar.
