No answers yet. Answer this questionQ:
How much are the long term member ships & are classes included in this pricing?
A:
It depends on the type of membership that you have. I have the top of the line membership and it includes all classes and clubs are included. My membership is monthly and I have to pay an annual fee for club upkeep.

Great gym, open 24/7. The cancellation policy is in the contract and very simple. All the reviews that say its difficult have a pea brain and don't know how to read. If you have an outstanding balance of course you need to pay before cancelling a membership. Staff is friendly

This gym is horrible. It sucks that it actually carries the Gold's Gym brand because it's actually independently owned. How do I know? I tried transferring my membership (which I had for several years) over, and I was told I could not... This is so they can charge me again on the initiation fee.
The staff changes every other day... The receptionists never greet you or say anything when you walk in. Their head is down staring at their phones. If you need to ask for something it's like you're bothering them or it's an inconvenience. The cryotherapy area is pretty much the same - there's a person there that has their head down playing on their phone.
It sucks when you're actually used to an environment where the people are friendly.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Karen H.Northwest Washington, Washington, DC17971Jul 21, 2023Updated review
This gym is always in a state of chaos. You can never find equipment or a matching pair of dumbbells, management does absolute nothing about nor does the staff. When Will strict policies be enforced because this is getting out of hand

Hi Karen, I'm sorry this happened. I will address this matter with our staff member to hear what she has to say about the incident. This sounds like coaching and counselling at the very least. Rest assure I will address this matter to see to it that this kind of thing never happens again.
Jul 1, 2019Previous reviewI had an extremely disheartening encounter with one of the employees in the women's locker room. The employee felt that it was okay to place a tampon box full of feces on the sink countertop where I had my personal belongings, and where many other female guests place their personal items on as well. When I asked to speak to the GM he has not at all apologetic and dismissed it as a "training and coaching issue." However, I do not see how it is not common sense for things like this not to occur, especially given how highly unsanitary this is for all guests. i am highly disappointed with how the situation was handled and with the overall disregard of the management.

As noted with many of the reviews, beware of the ridiculous cancellation policy. They require a written letter, which we sent via mail and they claimed they never received. They said we should have sent it certified mail. I went in to cancel and asked that the $49.99 pending annual fee be voided and the manager, Anthony said that was "impossible". I wasn't born yesterday, and am aware that voiding or crediting a transaction is not "impossible", they are just trying to be difficult.
After reading the other reviews, I hope they don't continue to charge me even after I went in person with a letter to cancel. It seems like many others have had the same issues.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Aija F.MD, MD011Mar 27, 2023Updated review
I've only been to the gym for training one time after my free session. I stated several times that I wanted to train for one month and would be out of work so I CANNOT continue after a month. I was only supposed to be charged for a month and I was told that I got the "one month" price. As I was signing the agreement, I was told that I was signing it for a month and the price etc. i know that I should've read it for myself; however, I didn't think that I would be deceived into signing up for 12 months. I have messages that even show I asked for one month. I've tried getting the issue resolved numerous times and am being told I need to pay $250 for cancelling my 12 month contract when I shouldn't have money coming out of my account after the first month anyway. This company doesn't care about me as a customer just the money. Please read your contract thoroughly!!

She is so friendly and has a warm personality. She is clearly knowledgeable about fitness. After one session, I am excited to continue and feel excited for the rest of my journey!

Long time member. Owner has invested heavily in expansion and great equipment. However, at night time the back area of the gym is abhorrent and off putting. Why? People are allowed to play music super loud and pounding. effort by the staff to monitor and regulate this annoyance.
The sound echoes off the rafters and throughout, including upstairs stretching/aerobics area. In general, I think the staff should circulate regularly.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 1Jun 23, 2017Previous reviewBeen a member of Gold's in Crofton for 3 years and visit 5x per week.
Pro: They invest in new equipment regularly. There is a young man who circulates through all day, racking up equipment and cleaning. Front desk staff are friendly.
Con: Never once has any staff member or trainer given me one word of advice on how to use equipment. They are a total non-presence in the workout areas. This speaks to lack of leadership in encouraging staff to communicate with members, at least to ensure they correctly use equipment.
UPDATE: Now have very good trainer, Eric H.
The music is terrible: MTV and pop played loud at all hours. There isn't a single space for quiet in the huge place, except for the movement rooms (1st and 2nd floor). Also, FOX channel is on all the time, on many screens.
While I like the club, the ambience created by the music and Fox is disturbing.
UPDATE: Equipment-wise this club gets better and better. However, the lifting areas are crowded all the time making it impossible to find open benches, dumbbells, and even a place to stand.Jul 4, 2010Previous reviewBeen a member of Gold's in Crofton for 3 years and visit 5x per week.
Pro: They invest in new equipment regularly. The place is kept VERY clean by a Latino couple who work for hours every night. Front desk staff are friendly.
Con: Never once has any staff member or trainer given me one word of advice on how to use equipment. They are a total non-presence in the workout areas. This speaks to lack of leadership in encouraging staff to communicate with members, at least to ensure they correctly use equipment.
The music is terrible: MTV and pop played loud at all hours. In the locker room there is both a blaring TV and blaring music from speakers. There isn't a single space for quiet in the huge place, except for the movement rooms (1st and 2nd floor). Also, FOX channel is on all the time, as one of three channels showing on the many big screens (ESPN and MTV are the usual other two channels). UPDATE: CNN now available.
While I like the club, the ambience created by the music and Fox is disturbing.
UPDATE: Equipment-wise this club gets better and better. And they have upgraded the locker rooms and public areas, incl adding public use computers. Yet the blaring of FOX and lack of a real news channel drives me nuts. This is an unwelcome intrusion of politics into our workouts. - Ethan K.San Francisco, CA01Aug 16, 2023
After multiple letters and attempts to cancel my membership they still continue to charge me. When you call regarding the issue they state "come in and we can help" I no longer live in Maryland they are taking advantage of this.

This is one of three locations within a 10 mile radius of my home.
Located in Crofton, right off of three. You can't miss it! Parking appears to be alright considering it is in an area with other shops.
Out of the three, this one is my fav. It is huge already AND they are making it bigger. I don't feel cramped or like I'm sitting on top of people like I have at other gyms. There are plenty of machines available for whatever you desire.
They have an array of classes. Full disclosure, I joined because of Barre and Body Pump. These classes outside of a gym are crazy expensive and I can take as many as a want during the month for less money than a drop in at other studios.
The staff and instructors are uber friendly and knowledgeable.
Plus hydro massage....whew chile.
Right now this is a winner and my go to spot.Helpful 5Thanks 0Love this 5Oh no 1Business owner information

Is it just me? I am not only a complainant. Many people complain. You can see below.
I've been going to Planet Fitness in Crofton, Maryland for 8 months. That the equipment was insufficient and with the recommendation of my friend, I was gonna sign up but I just wanted to try the gym. I ended my membership with my own will and came to the Gold gym to try it. However, the employee at the entrance said that he did not have trial membership that I could not use. I wanted to talk to the manager. and he came. I said that I would decide that I wanted to look at the intensity and cleanliness. He told me he didn't have much time and his talking was over by raising his voice. What a bad a manager! If I were instead, I would give trial membership and gain membership through behavior. I have never seen such a insolent manager I will never go there again. You are losing to your customer gain. Even though I had a pass trial on the email. it tells me that you cannot use it, then remove the trial membership of covid time from the site. disgrace, disgrace, disgrace. never again! I do not go to your website and register, come there and talk to your employee. All but all of them was a waste of time and it never suits you.
The gym address is 1625 Crofton Center, Crofton, MD 21114
The Visit and time is around at 5:00 pm 20/5/2021 Tuesday
And this my pass trial email's screen shotHelpful 3Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Brian M.Augusta, GA1392Feb 8, 2020
I've been going to this Gold's Gym for almost two years now and although there have been several issues, there weren't any I felt were bad enough to warrant a negative review, until now.
The expansion was touted as being this wonderful thing and they have all this new equipment and space for people to workout...sounds great right? What they don't tell you is that they are now contracting out the use of that space and unless you want to go to the gym at odd hours, you're not going to get to use the facilities that you're now paying for. Mind you- these classes and such are not even listed on their calendar for you to plan around and they're not included in the emails about upcoming classes. It's frustrating when you're making use of the turf track and end up surrounded by a group of kids and then get asked by a trainer to leave the turf area.
Additionally, there are SO MANY MORE CLASSES now. Even at 5am, you're going to have to dodge people and deal with getting pushed out of the areas you're working out in because the classes take priority over the individual members. The classes which used to be confined to the group exercise rooms are now spilling out onto the turf track as well. You'll be doing sled pushes or tire flips on the track and next thing you know you're getting stampeded by one of the classes. There needs to be a balance.
Membership? They got rid of the lower membership rate when the new expansion opened so the lowest tiered membership they're offering now is $22/month. You can only sign up for a membership or make amendments to your membership M-F from 9am-5pm because they don't have anyone on the weekends who can do it.This is a HUGE disadvantage for people who work during those hours and can't get away to go to the gym to talk to one of their salespeople. They are incredibly unresponsive when you reach out and try to make amendments to your membership as well. We've been trying for a week to reach someone and still haven't received a call back.
When you go into the gym Monday morning, expect to not be able to find anything. All the plates will be thrown anywhere there is floor space in the gym. People here have an incredibly hard time putting things back where they belong, ESPECIALLY the dumbbells. There are not enough of them for the number of people at the gym, and when classes are in session you're not going to be able to find any lower than 40lbs.
Now for the positives...the front desk staff are incredibly cordial and really great. They greet you with a smile when you come in, even at 5am. The core group of people who go to the gym religiously in the morning are all very friendly as well. They do have several trainers who are incredibly knowledgeable and motivating but others are cold, stand offish, and act like you're an inconvenience to them if you're not in one of their classes.
If there was another gym that was open 24/7 and was somewhat close to where we live, we would switch gyms in a heartbeat.Helpful 5Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0Business owner information
