This place has pretty solid Thai food in a no frills restaurant.
-The prices are reasonable but the portions are a little small. The drunken noodles didn't have too many noodles but had lots of veggies and other items.
-their tofu is good and plentiful
-the curry we got was a bit watery and so I wouldn't recommend the yellow curry
-flavors are not too spicy, but they have chili sauce if you want to add it
- I would probably get other items if I went back like the pad see ew or the fried riceHelpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Nanz W.Chicago, IL159266May 25, 2023
I have been getting food from here for years! Definitely one of my go to Thai food places.
Ingredients have always been fresh and they use a ton of veggies. The dishes are also not too greasy.
Great flavors and portions are large enough that I am able to split them into two meals sometimes.
My favorites: pad woon sen, pad kee mao and pad thai

Used to come to this place very often, since I work in the medical district. Today, I placed a phone order for pick up and the woman who answered the phone insisted on changing my order. I said basil fried rice she said basil and chicken. I tried to correct her but there seemed to be a language barrier. When I called to inform them about the error she was so rude and even yelled at me. No accountability at all. The customer service is beyond horrible. What a shame.

Noodles were good and so were the portion sizes. Everything had nice flavor and didn't skimp on ingredients. Better than the noodles at yummy Thai.

My go to Thai place! Love the chewiness of the Pad Thai noodles and is my favorite dish here! Papaya salad is so refreshing and a good side to eat with other dishes. Duck dish is very good and my partner loved it.

Service is friendly.
Zero wait . Sunday at March 2021.
Most of their items are tasty, not much salty. It's worth for a fair price.
Their ice tea is on a sweeter side and the pad Thai is also in a bit sweeter side.
Tom yum soup is sweet, spicy and sour and I almost always get for a starter.
Place is tiny and can get crowded very easilyHelpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - rennie p.Hinsdale, IL0122Nov 14, 2022Updated review
Love this little place. Lived in CA for years where you could get amazing Thai food. Since moving to the Chicago burbs I've been really disappointed in nearly all the Thai food I've had. This was the first Thai food (other than one other meal) on four years in the Chicago area that I thought rivaled my CA favorite. I loved the chicken satay, yellow curry, and larb. Will definitely be back. I like this place because they stick with the basics / classics and don't go too much into "fusion" thai etc. Place is cute and lady who served me was very nice.
UPDATE TO PREVIOUS REVIEW - my only complaint is about spice levels specifically the Larb. "Mild" is zero spice and "medium" is pretty hot. They need something in between. I think they need to add a touch more heat to the mild larb, or else offer a "no spice" version and a mild version that is a bit hotter than what they currently offer.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Jul 13, 2022Previous reviewYum Yum Yum. Ordered food here today for the first time and was so happy with my order. Lived for years in California where the Thai food was amazing. Moved back to this area a few years ago and have been unable to find any decent Thai food anywhere in the Western Burbs (only place I found with semi-decent food is Chai Yo in Westchester). So having to come downtown now frequently to go to UI Health I came across Golden Thai. Place is cute as a button, the lady who brought out my order was a sweetheart, the food was piping hot and fresh, and I loved everything I ordered. Got the Satay (liked that it actually wasn't on sticks for the to-go as it made it easier to eat) and loved their peanut sauce. The Larb (ground chicken salad) was delish, although I ordered mild and it was no heat at all (zero heat) so next time I will try the medium. Although they did put some hot sauce in the bag so I was able to add that to the Larb and get it to the spice level I wanted, so I was happy with that. Also got the pan-fried noodles with veggies. They were generous with the noodles which I loved because that is always my favorite part and the flavor was great. My favorite item was the "Yellow Curry" even though it was actually Massaman Curry (which is yellow curry plus peanuts / peanut sauce). I love a good traditional Yellow curry, and rarely order Massaman because it is very similar in taste to Satay and I had already ordered that, but I was so glad I did because it was delicious. I would definitely be ordering that again next time I come here. Anyway, this was the best Thai food I've found in five years in the entire Chicago area.

This is a hidden gem. And the only restaurant that I know of that makes crispy pad see ew.
Think of pad see ew, but the noodles are deep fried first before being tossed in the savory soy-based sauce. The noodles are shatteringly crisp on the inside, and slightly softened from the sauce. Completely addictive.
They also have fantastic spring rolls that are made with shrimp, chicken, and mint.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Aug 15, 2021
Golden Thai is a go to for my roomies and I. They have delicious and reasonably priced Thai food with so many vegetarian options. I love their drunken noodles with tofu (pad kee mao) and panang curry. I have been going to this place for over 3 years and their dishes have been consistently delicious- it's def a keeper.
Pro tip- call in your order and it'll be ready within 5-10 minutes.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0
