It's a small little place in this plaza and my friend said she liked their terriyaki chicken burger so we decided to try it out.
Had the teri chicken burger combo.
Had to say...my chicken was pretty dry. And so was my friend's. Bread was nice and soft though.
Fries were good.
Had this hisbiscus drink they put next to the soda machine. It was delicious!
Order was taken by a lady. She was fairly nice.
One restroom. Boy/girl shared restroom
Parking lot parking.
I'm hoping that the dryness of the chicken was just a fluke this one time because my friend said its not usually like this...so I won't give a one star.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Oct 6, 2023
Completely forgot about this place until yesterday.. which is quite unfortunate considering how good this spot is. I first ate here over a decade ago when I was in high school. It was affordable, had great quality food and was a nice change up from the chain restaurants - this is still true. I was greeted immediately and I knew it was still the same owner as she confirmed how long she'd been there. Again, with In n Out being within eyesight in the same plaza, a restaurant that (still) serves burgers and fries is doing something right. (While I personally haven't tried their burgers, other customers ordered it as I was waiting). But, I'll say this off top - their chicken Teriyaki is WAY better than the chains like Flame Broiler.
I always came for the Chicken Teriyaki plates or bowls depending on how hungry I was.. and always ordered some fries too. Their fries are thick cut, perfectly crispy and fluffy inside, with some Cajun seasoning.. again, I hate to compare but I say their fries are on par with the competition if not more consistent. GET THEIR FRIES!
I got the #1, a Chicken Teriyaki Plate that comes with white rice cooked exactly how it should be cooked, chopped chicken that is good quality and has grill marks/flavor (no stringy cheap chicken here), Teriyaki sauce, 2 dumplings and a small side salad. For $11.99, it's a large amount of high quality food. GET THIS!
It's tucked away towards the end of the strip mall (at the other end of the liquor store/donut shop). There's a lot of seating and tables inside. Plenty of parking but you may have to navigate thru traffic to get inside. Again, highly recommended. Support a local business!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Mar 22, 2024
Wonderful local eat that my husband and I love to grab spontaneously. Our usual is the teriyaki chicken and rice with dumplings; deliciously simple, but has a smidge too much sauce that I'm not mad about it because the price is too good. Good cheap eat that they make quickly. The ladies that run the counter are always sweet and kind. Wonderful to take out or eat in the restaurant.

That's a large??? A skinny little box. Chicken was overdone and dry. Beef is not good at all.
The super burger is a great combination of ingredients but the bread is awful and the beef patty is disgusting. I wonder if they put liquid smoke on the patty, but it had a weird taste.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Apr 26, 2023
I love their beef and chicken teriyaki plate. It came with rice , salad & one gyoza. The gyoza was not warm. Sad face It's a hole in a wall. The service was fast and efficient. They also have burgers on the menu if you want a burger. There are options. Mom & Pop operation and they take credit card ! Woo hoo !

If you like a good hole-in-the-wall as much as I do, this is the place for you. I was feeling adventurous one day and was looking for a quick lunch in the VN area. I had Gold Yaki Burger bookmarked on yelp for awhile for teriyaki and it was finally time to try it. It was everything I expected and probably a bit better even. Rice was well cooked, chicken teriyaki was good and inexpensive. The chicken was not rubbery like so many places - it was well cooked! The beef teriyaki was good too. They use thinly sliced beef. You can add vegetables for an extra charge and the veggies are your basic teriyaki bowl mix of carrots, cabbage and I think broccoli if I remember correctly. Good stuff!
I'll note that every time I've gone there (3 so far), I've dined in. Each time, there were regulars who have come in while I'm there. They have a diverse customer base of all ethnicities including Spanish-speakers (there's a line cook who chats with them sometimes), Korean-speakers, young, old, white, Asian, Hispanic...you name it! The older Korean couple that run the place are nice but leave you alone so you can enjoy your meal in peace. Love that.
Pro tip: beware of the roasted jalapeños they put out. Spiciest jalapeño I've ever tried!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Maria L.OH, OH031Feb 15, 2024
Such a gem! A hole in the wall but the food is so affordable and delicious! I had the teriyaki chicken burger and it was so good. The service was good too, the food came out so fast and the fries were hot, crispy and seasoned. I have a new lunch spot to throw into the rotation!!

My son has been coming to Gold Yaki for years! Him and his friends love it and he's been a customer for a really long time. He brought me here years back, and I had a cheeseburger but he's loyal to their chicken teriyaki bowls.
He'd stopped in yesterday to pick up lunch and later when I found out a teriyaki bowl sounded so good I went in to order for one dinner. A Large will easily feed 2-3 people.
Service is great and the food is tasty! Perfect little neighborhood dive.Helpful 8Thanks 0Love this 6Oh no 0 - Karen F.Burbank, CA292787Sep 20, 2023
Wow, I'm really surprised they have 4.5 stars.
The place was filthy. The bathroom was disgusting.
I ordered a chicken teriyaki combo, which took about 15-minutes to make (no problem). I sat down to eat it, and the entire dish was cold, including the rice.
I truly dislike being wasteful, but the food was inedible and I tossed all of it.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - AJ R.Los Angeles, CA1554Jul 29, 2023Updated review
When I first came her I was disappointed, that was like 10 years ago, but then a buddy brought me here after a move and I was like, these burgers are really good. Needless to say, I have been here countless times now and have tried burgers, their rice bowls, etc. The only thing that I would say I do not like is their fish. By buddy says, that is why you eat burgers at a burger place. I guess he is right.
Anyway, there is a reason why this place is usually pretty packed during lunch.
I try to come here when in the area and have their Super Burger, the meat patty, bacon, avocado and all the trimmings. Their fries are normally good, nice and crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside, however, I have to be honest, there have been a few times when they are over cooked.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Aug 4, 2011Previous reviewI read a review for this little dive and yes, it is tucked away in a little strip mall, you can easily miss it. It is behind the in-n-out burger, but still attracts a crowd. There were some cable guys and some UPS drivers, which you know they know the right spots to eat as they are always delivering everywhere.
This earned 4 stars for fast food and taste, as you cannot compare to higher quality standards.
I tried the chicken/shrimp teriyaki plate. The shrimp could be a little better, but what do you expect from a fast food joint. The chicken made up for it. it was tasty and well served, by well served I mean not too much, which usually kills the meal, but does not leave you hungry.
Next time I will try a burger because they looked good and the smell of grilled meat made me want to come back.
It is definitely family run and the lady was very friendly along with the cook. They were gracious and said thank you and come back, which is always nice. I will come back for sure.
A different visit and a little more disappointment, DO NOT TRY THE FISH!!!
Not that it taste bad, but I doubt that it is fish. Ever wonder what is in chicken nuggets? Same here. THis was more like wet cardboard with a fish flavor. Don't taste like anything, not even fish. Fish filet at McDonalds any day over what ever this is.
I used to like this place, but I went back for a Super Buerger, which has avocado and it was nasty. Not the burger, but the avocado. It was bad and they still used it. NEVER GO BACK!!!!!!
