I love this place. I love its staff and its location and its doctors. The reason I'm leaving 4 stars instead of 5 is that the staff smokes. The smell is overwhelming when they enter the exam rooms. I don't know if maybe I just have bad luck to have had appointment times that coincide with smoke breaks, or what. I have to have my dog euthanized and I decided to go to a different clinic because I don't want that smell to be part of my goodbye. I'm SO sorry to say this. Everything else is just perfect with this place. They have taken excellent care of my dogs.

We've known Dr Chris for over 20+ years and he's such a great vet!!!
He took care of our dogs well into their senior years and we're forever grateful for the care he provided.
My wife decided that we should get a dog and I reluctantly agreed. Gus has become a big part of our family and with that we know Dr Chris is the vet for our dog!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Regina B.Edmond, OK261285Mar 30, 2024
There are vets who do what they do because they love animals and this place is it! Dr. Chris has gone above and beyond with care for our beloved pets. His staff reflect that character too and are friendly, knowledgeable and professional.
Dr. Chris is the kindest and most honest soul I've met in years and we will never go anywhere else.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Tonda W.Oklahoma City, OK045Mar 28, 2024
I would not recommend this facility.
I paid for a couple of bundle prices ($486) for a pet visit including vaccinations plus a few prescription. Dr Chris advised in our visit he felt my pet was too small to get all of her shots at same time. He recommended we bring her back in the following week to get the second vaccine, advising it would be at no charge.
We did so today and was charged $17 anyway.
When I pointed this issue out to Dr Chris, this was his reply. See text messages.
He used the F work, called me names, and completely separated himself from his staff. As the owner of this clinic, I would expect a mature response acknowledging his clinic's mistake. He should have made a not to my pets account. Or at least just represented a more team oriented response, apologizing to me as the customer.
This response from Dr Chris was unacceptable.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Pandora P.Edmond, OK041Apr 2, 2024Updated review
Dr Chris is the animal whisperer. My tortie Kinsey is scared of everyone but she loves Dr. Chris. He has finally been the one to help her with the inflammation that caused her hair loss. She is happy and I am happy.
Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Mar 29, 2024Previous reviewDr. Chris has helped solve a two year problem for my cat that no one else was able to diagnose. He is kind, smart and loves what he does. I hope people won't listen to a review where an emergency-only number was rudely texted over a $17 mistake by staff. Consider that not everything was in the screenshot. I recommend Dr. Chris and respect how much he cares for the fur babies.

We brought our dog here this morning and we had a great experience. They were able to take us in as a walk in (with a small extra fee since we didn't have an appointment). Everyone was very friendly, answered all our questions, they were very friends towards our dog and we felt that he was in good hands. He's usually really afraid when we bring him Into these kinds of spaces but he behaved super well and wasn't as shakey as he usually gets when we bring him to the vet so we will definitely be making this our primary place! Look at how happy and comfy he is here!

The facility is very welcoming and the staff is friendly and knowledgeable
Dr Baker was informative and open to answer any questions I had regarding our goldendoodle puppy.
Also, my kids LOVE seeing the "office pets" behind the front desk :)Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Nathan H.Oklahoma City, OK04Apr 5, 2022
My dog injured his foot and we became concerned due to his painful limp/range of motion for a foot fracture. We are established patients at GCAH, and I called promptly for assistance. Our experience over the past year for planned vaccine visits had been generally good at that point.
I have worked in healthcare for 10 years and I understand unexpected conditions occur, can disrupt regular clinic flow, but I would expect every clinic, human or not, to explain a contingency plan for their established patients in a given scenario (e.g. drop-off visit, emergency hospital/off-hours recommendations, explain symptoms to monitor and when to seek urgent care until our next possible appointment, etc.)
The answering employee stated they wouldn't be able to see them that day in any capacity, FULL STOP. ZERO compassion, ZERO recommendations from where to go as an alternative. She couldn't be bothered to contact the vet or let me quickly discuss my dog's case with the doctor in-between visits (which may be urgent, how would she know, she's NOT a veterinarian). When I politely explained I was shocked, and I found this unacceptable and wouldn't be comfortable continuing our routine care there, she showed ZERO concern and promptly hung up.
I called another local clinic who did not know our dog, and they were immediately sympathetic to our situation. The staff member discussed the case with their vet, and my dog was able to be seen the same day as a drop-off visit.
I can only speculate why GCAH operates this way, but I wouldn't recommend it to anyone who cares about their pet's health.
TL DR: Don't expect any help when you need it the most for your pet at this appointment-only clinic. Front staff need significant education in professionalism/empathy.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Nalani M.Northwest Oklahoma City, Edmond, OK011Oct 4, 2022
If I could rate them 0 stars I would. I called to set an appointment and ask about the deposit the woman was very rude and hung up in my face. Then, I called back to voice my concern and they hung up in my face again. I did not yell or even speak a negative word during the call. I am very disappointed and just wanted the best service for my baby.
I hope that this feedback helps promote change because that was just unacceptable.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Carl S.Shawnee, OK3171Jul 28, 2020
We've been taking our Standard Poodle Violet to Gentle Care since she came home with us on May 25. We have also had to Board her. Dr. Matt and the staff are always pleasant and caring toward her. I always know what to expect when I take her for an appointment, and understand everything before we leave.
As retired military, I could take her to the Vet on Tinker and would spend quite a bit less money, but she wouldn't get the time and attention she does here!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
