The best gelato I've had in my whole life, this place is amazing.
The coconut and pistachio gelatos were to die for, they're so rich and made with high quality ingredients. The staff here doesn't speak much English so we ended up overpaying because we couldn't communicate properly with them. But instead of keeping the extra money, they gave us extra food! Super friendly and the atmosphere is so nice.Helpful 2Thanks 2Love this 2Oh no 0 - Nov 15, 2023
Ordered:
Medium Cone (~€5): 2-3 flavors (strawberry, pistachio, tiramisu) includes panna (cream)
Aya's take:
Last night in Italy and Giolitti was truly the cherry on top! There are 2 lines - at the first line, you select what size cup/cone you want and pay. They give you a receipt which you will take to the second line where all the flavors are. There is an overwhelming amount of flavors so I definitely recommend having some go-to's in mind before your turn. All three flavors actually blew me away and the cream (panna) on top was soft like a cloud and not overly sweet! The flavors also blended together well. Perfect stop for a nighttime stroll in Rome.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 1 - Apr 9, 2024
Simple food menu with sandwiches. Not their specialty. The gelato... it was so good! We had a long walk back to our hotel after completely pigging out at this very wonderful Gelateria with a long history of putting smiles on peoples faces!

Best gelato of my life! A friend had recommended this place and it did not disappoint! I spent 2 wks in Italy and ate A LOT of gelato and this was hands down the best I've ever had! I can't even begin to describe its amazingness. It was not overly sweet and tasted very authentic. Sometimes hazelnut can taste artificial but this did not! Wish I could go back soon!

Pay at the entrance to get a ticket before going in. 3.50 for small (2 flavors) 5.00 for a medium (2-3 flavors) and 6.00 for a large (3-4 flavors).
A+ for flavor selection but the quality is not all there. With so many it is hard to excel in everything. For excellence focus is needed. The staff were mostly okay and plenty of signage telling patrons not to sit at the tables unless you want table service.
They offer many other delights which I did not try.
My rating is entirely on the quality of the gelato and they are only okay at it.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Aug 21, 2023Updated review
Maybe our favorite gelato in Rome. The dark chocolate and pistachio are amazing, and my wife loved the milk chocolate and stracciatella.

I think this place has a solid fruit variety for gelato, not so sure about the chocolates/vanillas. We absolutely loved our passion fruit and mango combo!
I was recommended here by many, many people- so you will find it crowded and I believe you do have to tip if you want to sit down. However, you will find the lines go fast and plenty of people are standing around outside and enjoying their gelatos!Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Dec 27, 2022
I've loved things that other people say are overhyped, but I have to agree with those who say Giolitti is overhyped. The Oreo flavor tasted like a weird cream more than Oreo. The dark chocolate was fine, not special. (It is dairy-free, like many dark chocolate gelatos.)
It was unclear how to request table service. To get gelato at the counter, you pay first, then go to the gelato counter.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - 80119177Jul 22, 2023
The best gelato in Rome!! Giolitti has tons and tons of flavors to choose from including a lot sorbets and vegan options. You need to pay at the door then bring your receipt to the parlor area to let them know what flavor you want. I got a small cone for €3.50 (cone and cup are the same price I believe) which gets you 2 scoops/flavors. I got chocolate and blackberry, and it was absolutely amazing! The portion was super generous, and you can also get whipped cream on top if you want!

Everyone on tiktok said giolitti had the best gelato and I would've agreed if you asked me 10 years ago, but now... it's not what it use to be. The service was also terrible, extremely rushed and rude. The berry flavors tasted artificial and the only decent flavor we tried out of six was the chocolate.
