High volume practice but staff seemed qualified. My Doc was great.
It just felt like a production line when we were in the office.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Keith T.Hickory, NC05Jun 24, 2019
I have been a Crohn's patient of Dr. Simon Allport since 2004 when I went into the hospital with an intestinal blockage. I have been a patient of his since then. I have always been very pleased with his service and care. He takes the time to discuss my treatment, any questions, etc. He is progressive and open to new developments and treatments with Crohn's. I can't speak really about any of the other doctors, but I would strongly recommend Dr. Allport.

Not a great first experience. I had to wait 10 minutes for someone to come out to take my temperature in order to be checked in at the front desk. I did not wait long out in the main waiting room before being called back to a actual room to be seen by the doctor. There I waited over an hour to see the Nurse practitioner to see me. Which was very odd. She stated I needed and endoscopy however she called the doctor on call to confirm. She took me to the check out and requested that they schedule the procedure. I was given the instruction where to go and what do do the day before the procedure. I was told that someone would follow up with me about what I would need to pay. Well a weeks goes by noone had called so I called doctors office they gave me a number to call and called that number to be told to call another number. I gave up after the forth attempt and called and cancel the appointment. I would not recommend this practice

If you are going for a preventative colonoscopy screening, don't tell them you have had issues. Because I told them I have had some issues, they filed it a different way with my insurance and I ended up having to pay for it. My insurance company told me to call them and have it resubmitted as a preventive screening. But Gastroenterology Associates refuses to do this.

I first contacted GA to establish as a new patient on June 4. I was told I needed a referral and asked if a referral from my doctor's office in WI would work; they said yes. June 5, my Dr sent the referral. June 6, called to confirm receipt and was told it takes a week to process and that they'd call me. June 19, I called them to find out where the referral was in the process and was transferred to a voicemail; left a message. June 22, I called back to check on the status of the referral because I hadn't received a return call. They asked if I was having issues; I told them yes. I was told that I had to establish with an NC primary before they would consider me (that was that). Four telephone conversations and almost three weeks later...I feel like I should never have bothered them. Each call was "politely rude". I don't believe the office staff wants new patients.
