I wasn't going to review this place but I have received excellent service 3 times. I'll share the one that stands out.

So, as a huge nerd, I pre-ordered Diablo 3 Collector's Edition. There was a really limited release but I managed to seal a copy. I got notice from the store the night before the release (which is done at 1201am) to come pay for the software. I did.

When I walked up to pay, the staff said they've received so much harassment by folks trying to get the Collector's Edition, especially since they got no extra copies. I told them I couldn't pick it up at midnight... especially since I work normal job hours and was really burning the candle at both ends.

      --2 days later

I show up in the store and hear this guy arguing with an employee (this worker has helped me several times and is always helpful) that he wants to buy the Collector's copy that was sitting out in the staff area. The employee was stalwart though and told him that it was pre-ordered and paid for.

I waited until this prick left and gave the employees my receipt. The guy said, "Thank god you're here, now we can stop being harassed." He told me they had been offered several bribes to release the copy but they wouldn't. Granted, they could have taken a bribe and told me, "Sorry, we didn't get your copy," but they were honest and kept the software for me.

Gamestop on South St, your employees rock.

When I am not buying my games online through Amazon, I like to head to this GameStop on South Street. The staff is friendly and ready to chat about games you're playing, or games coming out soon. Even the police officer that is often stationed there is a gamer - a nice pull for him!

I have purchased a handful of games and equipment here. Traded in and old Xbox 360 for a newer model, bought a Wii and a bunch of peripherals, picked up a few used Wii classic controllers, and more. One of the only knocks is that this a smaller store than most, but you have to expect that on South Street. Sometimes certain things, mostly controllers and peripherals, are out of stock. Plus, it's not the most updated store in regard to looks and demo stations. But if you live nearby and fancy yourself a gamer, it will be worth your while to visit the shop on occasion to browse and talk about your hobby.

In comparison to the GameStop in the Gallery. This GameStop will not be overly crowded with long lines. And you won't be stuck behind someone trading in NBA Live 96 and Crash Bandicoot for twenty cents off a used PSP game. I could go on, but I'll save that for a future review. The EB Games at the Gallery is not as bad. Small shop, less crowded, more personalized service, but still, who wants to trek up to the third floor of the Gallery?

Long winded for a game shop review, I know. But I love video games, and enjoyed writing a bit about one of my favorite hobbies. Check out this GameStop, it's no going to blow you away, but it's the best we got. Find me on Xbox live: septa rida

The best place to shop for video games in Philly, bar none. While I often buy my games online, I really respect their passion and knowledge. I do buy from them once or twice a year, tho, just to keep them in business.

This gamestop is one of the more decent ones I've been to. The staff is friendly and fun to talk to, and they are always honest with you when you ask about games.

I miss the friendly knowledgable old staff. For much better and cheaper prices go to Techsmart on the same block. They price match and price beat GameStop and They also give you more money for your games and electronics! And they buy/sell Retro games. But I give GameStop an extra stars for midnight releases.

I shop here because it's close, but I've preordered items here and have been told they've been sold to other customers upon pick up. Really turned me off from shopping at gamestop. Up your customer service or I'll be using Amazon for everything.

Again wish I didn't have to give one star. The Broad Street location didn't give me 3 out of the 4 games I bought and they closed as my boyfriend and I were leaving. So we decide to call the South Street location assuming that they could help us out. Nope, no one wants to answer after several attempts. My boyfriend decides he will ride his bike up there (P.S. it is NOT close to us) and there are two employees just hanging out with their friends laughing and having a grand ol' time.. Not answering the constantly ringing phone. My boyfriend tries to resolve the matter of the missing 3 games and the employee he is speaking with thinks the situation is so funny that he yells over to the other employee and they both just laugh about the matter. HA HA HA.. not funny. The employee states that they do not have the games in stock because they are old. Yet the inventory on the website says they do and the cases are out on the shelves... hmmm.... so after the employee admits they do have them he decides to go with the "You're gonna have to take that up with the Broad Street location because we cant take that out of our stock." I wish they could have just answered the phone to tell us that. Such BS so with no luck we will be going back to the Broad Street location tomorrow and we will see how it goes. It's just really sad and disappointing for the gamestop business that two of their locations have employees working there that don't give two shits about their customers. Longest review I have ever written but needed to be done! End rant.
