Galleon Restaurant

We were stopping through Guymon, OK for gas and found Urban Bru, this gem of a restaurant listed as #2 on yelp. When I saw the menu had Filipino-inspired food I knew it was going to be good and we decided to drop in.

We stopped by and were greeted by very kind staff who were happy to help us find what we wanted, were very accommodating for our two-year-old mess making baby, and she made excellent recommendations on food.

The restaurant had a lovely calming atmosphere, the space was nicely updated and was very welcoming with comfortable seating, soft lighting and lovely flower arrangements. The espresso bar was impressive, lots of pastries and they even serve wine and beer!

We had lunch and were pleasantly surprised by how delicious the food was. My husband got the cuban sandwich, and was so happy with it. I got the chicken salad sandwich on berry-wheat and the chicken rice soup, both were EXCELLENT! The oats and milk were perfect for our little one.

We were so impressed that we ordered our dinner to go (chicken adobo rice bowl), saving it for later on our road trip.

I have a feeling that from now on, whenever we are near Guymon, we will be coming here for food hands down--and you should too!!!

Let me start by saying this place is now called Urban Bru. It's basically the same menu and it was good. Lots of vegan, veg, and gf options which are a hit. Delish teas and coffees and a really cute vibe. I'd like to bring my book and just hang out here. Good food, good service, the rice bowl I had was delish and so were the sandwiches that we ordered.

GUYMON, WHAT?!

Yep, one of the best restaurants in Oklahoma is in the remote pork town of Guymon.

I was doing a long drive to the state high point: https://www.yelp.com/biz/black-mesa-summit-trail-kenton

And most of the towns on the way were in bad states of decay. Guymon was surprisingly large and active though, so I decided to stop in for dinner.

I fired up the Yelp app and saw a new restaurant with stellar reviews.

I went in and...wow! Interior is elegant and fancy, but not at all pretentious and bougie.

I sat at the bar and the bartender had a UK accent, Guymon surprises again!

The food was incredible and the beer selection extensive. Food comes with 4 different sauces:
1x Spanish-style
1x Filipino-style
2x Mexican style

I liked it so much that I came back for brunch the next day on my way back to OKC!

I chatted with the GM and he was incredibly kind and helpful. Turns out he and his sister (bartender from the night before) came to Oklahoma as children. He told me the story of the immigrant Filipino family that started the restaurant and told me about the other things they are up to in the Guymon community.

If you're within an hour of Guymon, you should absolutely stop here!

With our 7 person family, we tried several dishes. All were excellent. The menu has a nice selection, and the alcohol and beer menu had a great variety of options. This is quite the gem of a restaurant. This comes highly recommended from my seven person family with children that range from 19 yo to 4 yo.

Additionally, the staff were first class. Patient, kind, and great hosts.

An Oasis in the desert. Wow, what a find. If you are in the Guymon area this is definitely a place worth stopping at. The food was fresh and the staff were very friendly and helpful on ordering. I come to the panhandle every once in a while and this will be another "Go To" place that I will continue to visit and tell others about.

What a great meal this evening at the GalleonRestaurant. We had the shrimp with coconut rice. It was perfectly cooked. The waiter we had was so accommodating he explained the different sauces and delivered the meal in a timely manner. We were checked on twice by Ian the manager and he was sincere in wanting our experience to be perfect. The music and ambiance made this a wonderful dinning experience. We will be back often.

I have to say i wasnt expecting much when i found out that I'd be eating dinner in a small town in The Oklahoma panhandle. Man what a wonderful slap in the face lesson eating here was. The food here is a fantastic and surprising mix of flavors and spices that all work together well. From the get go I was impressed with the homemade chips and 4 salsas. That was followed by a perfectly balanced, for my taste, Vodka Martini. But the main course was even better. The ingredients were all fresh and in perfect proportions. The portions were plentiful but not ridiculous. The staff was super friendly and provided excellent service. I don't know if any if the other restaurants here are good, and probably never will. If I'm ever here again I'll be right back at the Galleon.

I was blown away by the incredible food. A friend told me about this place but I had not imagined it would be as good as it is. The atmosphere is excellent. Exceptional.
And the cost is beyond reasonable.

We were traveling from Tulsa to Colorado Springs, we stopped in Guymon to stay the night. This place was very highly recommend on Yelp, we were not disappointed. The food was so good. The wait staff was very helpful in helping us decide. My husband had the pork belly, I had the pork on a stick, daughter had tiger shrimp. All were very good. Then churros for dessert.
