I placed an online order for take out. The app was extremely easy to use, our food was ready for pickup in a few minutes and I have no complaints. The food was good so we will definitely order again. Since our order was to go, the ambiance did not apply at this time.

I have done several reviews on this particular restaurant with high scores. In all my visits, and i do visit often when in Statesville, I have only had one less than favorable experience several years ago. And that visit was during the week around lunch time time. I do expect that any place will not be great every time. Circumstances vary.
But over all, one less desirable experience out of a hundred, and yes I eat here too often, does not diminish the great food and experience I get. I leave happy with my choice.
The club and the Slaw Dog are two of my go to when i am too hungry to look over their great selection of foods to eat.
The service is great by people who obviously want to give you the experience you will love and keep you coming back.
Statesville has some fine food establishments to satisfy your hunger. But if you are downtown and looking for a quick dash in for a sandwich and drink, give Grochos a try while you are soaking up historic Statesville

Very very busy. Graduations going on
Parking - 3 very busy, so can be challenging
Location - 4 downtown with plenty of places within walking distance
Customer Service - 5 even as busy as they are, very attentive server with positive attitude and friendly
Food Flavor - 5 great as always
Presentation - 4 always good and appealing
Product Variety - 4 good variety of tasty items to try
Restrooms - single occupancy, but clean and well stocked.
Cleanliness- 4 keeping the tables cleared even with the high turnover of customers
Seating- 4 adequate for normal bo
Our server "Emmy" was outstanding and made sure to check on us several times to make sure we were satisfied. Great service!
I very much enjoy eating here. The food is great and the service is fast. They definitely put together a great product for an enjoyable experience.
In all my visits and i do visit often, i have only had one less than desirable experience. Which is to be expected. Every place has a bad day. It is the fact that in 4 years i have visited this restaurant frequently and 1 bad experience is nothing.

Parking - 3 downtown parking. So finding a spot on a weekend evening can be a challenge. So come earlier in the afternoon.
Location - 4 downtown so there are plenty of places to go and see if you want.
Decor/Ambiance - 3 average sandwich shop with a pension for local history.
Customer Service - 5 with the exception of one instance on a weekday lunch time, the service has been really good. Food delivery has always been quick with professional servers.
Pricing - 5 in line with surrounding venues. You can come here to feed the family without going broke.
The food has been very appetizing and the selection in line with the kind of shop it is. If you are tired of the Subways brand of food and want to venture out of the box, then i would suggest a trip to Statesville NC for a step above.Jul 29, 2022Previous review2022 June 01, 18:45;

When I am in statesville, Grouchos is one of my favorite places, downtown it's going to be either Grouchos or Broad Street Burger. Both are great places to find flavorful items that you can try. Wide selections at both!
But when it comes to Grouchos, there is that corner sandwich shop feel that will keep you coming back for more. And more. And more.
My favorite two are the club and the slaw dog. You just can't go wrong with either.
Just know before you go, while being downtown does offer a wide variety of places to see as well as a charming walk. Parking can be an issue during peak times. So look around for that spot to park. Of course Statesville has always had a place in my heart since the late 70's as the stomping grounds of Rick and the Brotherhood. While the town has changed, it really hasn't if you know what i mean.
Groucho's Deli, situated on the corner of Broad Street and Center, has a prime spot for just about anyone passing through town. A casual stroll along the main drag and you can stop in for a quick bite to eat. Maybe try their tasty "Slaw Dog" with a good beverage.
You' find an old time charm with a welcoming staff and clean dining. And afterwards just step out for a walk to admire the downtown.
I would certainly recommend you try this place. That was a week day and I would rate that vista as bad. However, my weekend visits are always amazing thus far. A bit understaffed maybe, but they try very hard to serve you well. The food? Amazing! Today I had the "Slaw Dog" for the first time and it was wonderful with a nice blend of flavors and the spicy mustard and slaw were just what is needed! Great flavor! Would certainly suggest!
As always the dining area and restrooms were clean and orderly. A good place to eat! But the service was excellent and the server professional and helpful. Entering restaurants and hour before closing is something I try to avoid since its usually one of the worst service and food quality times. However, I was happily surprised by the variety, pricing, food quality and staff. I chose the club and was impressed with the taste and serving size. Excellent choice. Service was quick and the store was clean and neat. Restrooms were stocked and clean. Overall this visit exceeded my expectations. I would recommend trying.

The sandwiches are always fresh and tasty. Very good portions and I would suggest giving their potato salad a try. The staff is friendly and the food comes out quick. The location is right in the heart of downtown Statesville which gives it a nice hometown feel to it.

Nov 30, 2023Previous reviewGroucho's Deli is a great place to eat lunch or dinner when in the Downtown area of Statesville. They are also great to grab a to-go order when on the run. Great food with a friendly staff in a lovely corner spot in the middle of town. STP Dipper and Mid East Special are two of my favorites.

Dec 7, 2022Previous reviewThis is great sandwich shop located in downtown Statesville NC. Even though it is a chain it gives you that small hometown fill. The have great sandwiches, and salads. I find myself usually going with the STP Dipper, and for a change of pace the Rueben Variation. Their 45 sauce is amazing on the STP Dipper.

We were car shopping in the Statessville area this week and wanted to try a new lunch spot. Groucho's appeared to be liked by many. My wife and I felt our sandwich baskets were boring. My wife got the Reuben. It was served on I toasted and Un grilled bread. I ordered a "flavorful" international sub sandwhich. It was served in a hoagie roll with a slice of cheese and packed with a characterless ham )nothing else but an oil and vinegar dipping sauce). Our meals were so boring we plan to never eat here again.

This little sandwich shop in downtown Statesville is quite nice. I haven't been in yet, but have ordered delivery from them many, many times in the past year. (They pack very well for delivery too, with everything arriving in great shape.) All the food is fresh & crisp.
The sandwiches are great and the salads are a great size. The dippers are sandwiches with an au jus type sauce or a dressing; my husband enjoys those.
My fave is the Deli Club for 2. They double the meat, and include 2 bags of chips and pickles. It's the perfect size lunch for a couple. Their club sandwiches are great!

I ordered the club, it was so fresh and tasty, and my partner got the Brown Moose. It was much smaller by comparison but perfect for him. Pasta salad was cold and tart, chips were basic, and the service was very friendly!
Quaint location with and open dining space, wish we lived closer to this lovely area.

Funny that most of the seats that we're taking up were by the trash and leftover food that the employees did not decide to pick up yet. once I finally got a seat, it took almost more than 20 minutes for a employee to come around and take our order and I'm not going to say that all that was the reason of this one star review, anyways me and my family decided instead of having to wait that long we might as well get takeout. But my mouth was opened once I saw what was in my food! there was a black bug in my food alive still crawling around. I was appalled I even gagged. I have never ever been to such a low tier standing place where there were alive bugs in my food Grouchos you can do a lot better. This is why I strongly suggest you eat somewhere else.
