They were out of the sandwiches but not disappointed at all. Got the fresh crispy crunchy juicy 4 pieces chicken,
The wait was twenty minutes so I walked into some surrounding stores and what I ran into was a vast variety of individually owned ethnic shops. I watched as the locals zipped in and out of the somewhat dated strip mall for takeout or pickups. There is an authentic Mexican restaurant, Polish Deli, Turkish Grocery Mart, Vietnamese restaurant, shipping place, besides the Fried Chicken House. Unassuming and most would just keep going, but glad I didn't., thanks YELPERS!! This A melting pot of small business owners,. It has some pretty decent and greatly varied food fair. ANYWAYS, if you're in the area skip KFC and head over to The CHICKEN HOUSE and give this small business some support. Also, the Polish Deli in the corner has fresh homemade pierogis breads kielbasa and other authentic Polish food can't wait to review that next!!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Shawn G.Brick, NJ80157Aug 11, 2019
Everything I've had here has been delicious!!!
After watching the movie Chef (great movie check it out) I had a craving for a Cuban sandwich and my god was I let down. No ham no Swiss cheese and on a sub roll and the sandwich was not pressed but had lettuce and tomatoes on it
They should really take it off the menu if they want to keep their sign in the front of the store stating
"best Latin food in Toms River"Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Feb 25, 2016
Fried Chicken House sits in a small strip shopping center along Rt. 166 in Toms River. It has the good fortune of having good neighbors offering cuisine from around the world, which makes this locale a full house food court. In fact, this is how I found the place. I really wanted to have lunch at the Vietnamese place next door, but it was closed on Mondays, so I settled on my second option.
Glad I did.
This unassuming shop is clean and bright, and operated by a trained chef, Diego. He is bright and engaging, and runs the front of the house. I ordered the 2 piece fried chicken lunch from the menu and retreated to a table to await its arrival. Each chicken request is made to order from never frozen fresh poultry, hand breaded and deep fried just before it is placed in front of you. The impression was that the breast and wing I received were larger than at the franchise places. Along with a pile of hot, crispy French Fries, and a side dish of just made Cole Slaw, the meal looked great even before the first bite.
And, its consumption did not let me down. The first cut released a jet of steam with a great aroma. The taste emanating from the crisp coated skin, and the white meat beneath was excellent. It was tender and amazingly juicy. Whatever the secret recipe, it was a winner. It was a lot to eat given the size of the parts and sides, but it was thoroughly enjoyable. I left some of the fries behind just to reduce the caloric intake. The Slaw was cold and crunchy with a mild mayo/vinegar flavor. The bird was not overly oily, and was about the best fried chicken I have eaten in the past year.
Fried Chicken House is quite a find, and so aptly named.
PS. Did I mention they serve Jarritos soda? Mandarin is my favorite flavor!Helpful 12Thanks 0Love this 5Oh no 0 - Caroline D.Miami Beach, FL731423Apr 5, 2019
We were driving north coming from AC and were looking for a fried chicken spot when we bumped into this place. I had the chicken and ribs combo with fries/coleslaw, my bf had the 4 piece chicken dinner with beans/coleslaw. He loved the chicken while i loveed the ribs and fries. The meat just fell of the bone good. They had colombian soda which is my fav. I was shocked at how cheap the bill was. I would definitely recommend!

Lossy chicken little flavor the guy who owns it is not a good cook. The minute he went in the kitchen he took his mask off. Don't eat there it's not very good

Went to this place because there was a deal on Groupon. Pleasantly surprised. Could have done without the mozzarella sticks (the sauce was more like salsa than marinara)... Ordered dinner combo (thigh, drum, 3 ribs with fries and coleslaw). Everything was good although ribs were fatty. Husband ordered chicken fajitas. He wished it had some sour cream, cheese and quac (and no he didn't just ask for it because he's weird). My son had chicken finger kids meal that was standard. Overall, we were both very pleased. Waitress was nice.

I feel like they don't appreciate black business while serving our food. After ordering from them for delivery and pickup many times. Using Grubhub, DoorDash ect. Me and my mom ordered a fried chicken plate through Grubhub and when we arrived to pick it up they owner accused us of trying to scam him and asked what we were trying to pull and refused to give us the food. I'm like it's already paid for superhero. And the food is just ok. Sometimes the chicken is baby, maybe a day old refried, or old grease. Bottom line is they suck!

I don't know of any really good fried chicken joints and I really love fried chicken. I was in Toms River and followed my SOP: checking Yelp for some good eats in the area.
After reading the reviews for this place I was psyched, figuring I had stumbled onto another great little dive.
Unfortunately, it's not. Not great that is. This place only comes to the level of being acceptable.
Pros:
Chicken is fresh, not frozen.
Meat is not dried out, especially important when you get to the breast meat.
Very friendly service
Cons:
The breading was soft and crumbly, and didn't have good adhesions to the meat.
This is what really killed it for me. To me fried chicken is (almost) all about the breading.
And the chicken was relatively oily - not the worst, but still oily.
The french fries, as opposed to the chicken, were frozen.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Anitsirk Z.Lakewood, NJ621Dec 18, 2015
Be careful ordering online. The first time I ordered some chicken and a side of rice, went in with the exact change that my email told me only to be told at the register it was going to be a few dollars more. As I explained that's not what the website said the lady said "Yeah well the website is wrong". Okaaaay...
Tried it again recently for dinner with my mom. This time I used a credit card online thinking that it would secure the price (why I should even have to worry about this is beyond me, as the prices should be updated). We ordered a family combination, came with 8 pieces of chicken, potatoes and salad for around $15. A few minutes later we get a phone call saying that the salad is no longer offered with the combo - but the manager is going to honor it anyway. (Yaay!)
Get to the restaurant and send my mom in who had no idea how much the bill was supposed to be. She comes out and said the card wouldn't go thru and they need the back numbers of the card. Weird -- but I give it to her, she comes out with the food and the receipt charging us $3 more than the website. Unbelievable!!!
As for the food, the mashed potatoes were bland and the gravy tasted "canned" (according to my mom). The fried chicken is definitely delicious, though a bit salty. I'm not sure I'll be giving this place another try as I don't like the whole bait and switch. It's 2015 and being a webmaster myself I know how easy it is to simply go in and change some prices.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0
