I'm not afraid of burnt-on-the-bottom pizza. In reality- that's actually the best pizza: thin and Charred! Is there any other way???
A very nice staple right in Hartsdale. As long as I can remember, I've never seen a worthy pizza spot here. So when Frankie & Fanucci's stepped in with their Wood-Fire Pizza almost 10 years ago, all hell broke loose! And since then, F&F's has been flipping these pies to perfection. Toppings range from Veggies to Cheese to Meats. Regular menu has an excellent mix for Vegetarians, Vegans and Carnivores.
F&F's opens up to Subway Tiles, Black & White hexagon floor tiles and dark woods all giving an interesting Bistro-type flair. They've since added, like a self-serve beer on tap towards the left wall. Service is pleasant and straight to the point. Music is an upbeat 'Chill' style- setting F&F's for a real lively mood.
Our shared Appetizers of an Arugula Salad and a Burrata plate were both good. Wished hubby and I could've wrapped up with Dinner right then and there- but we were here for Pizza! Hubby liked his Individual Pepperoni- but felt his crust- compared to mine didn't look so hot. My 'Shroom' however, had all the signs of a good Neapolitan-style Pizza- with an excellent Crust and super good taste with chopped Mushrooms (wished they were sliced), Chives and these awesome dollops of Ricotta.
Noticed our server shaking up a paper bag and it just seemed wrong to not order their Zeppoles but we were full from our shared Appetizers and our individual Pizzas, we skipped. Our server Jennifer though- was kind enough to pass along a Free Zeppole gift. Thank you! Final bill even with our 2 wines- was reasonable. When all is said and done, let it be known, this is a nice spot not to be missed.Helpful 20Thanks 0Love this 17Oh no 0 - Aug 10, 2018Updated review
Almost nobody in restaurant and took about 35 minutes for food to come. I almost fell asleep sitting up. It was ridiculous. The staff came over and apologized citing new menu, new staff, maybe both, and perhaps neither.
The calamari came and it was a little under breaded and barely crisped, if not slightly and ghoulishly pale. It wasn't rubbery though. As most folks know, sliced and fried pork anus sometimes is passed off as restaurant calamari. I'm more than 90% sure that's not the case here.
The wings were ordered dry and they came as such. Nicely crisped....sort of, but devoid of any and all spice. Hard to blame that flavorless fare on the staff alone since it's a risk when ordering dry. Hint, maybe don't order them dry.
The piped in music and abysmal acoustics gave me a rip roaring headache. I left the restaurant for a time, hoping the less cacophonous din of the city street would offer respite. It did. Albeit the family leered at me with shuddering disdain. Whatever....
The pizza had burnt crust--hard to breach a two star rating if you serve food that looks as though it was cooked by a 2nd grader with ADHD. Less forgivable since the restaurant markets its wood fire pizza.
The bolognese pasta was excellent -- portion just right and a nice medley of veal, pork and beef. The sauce was delightful and the touch of cream helped the flavor along nicely. I'd order it again.
The bespectacled high energy waiter was fine--nice enough, happy, and fairly attentive.....he chap deserves no sully or besmirch on account of his cockamamie kitchen staff gone wild. I was thirsty most of the meal though, and now that I think of it, beverage replenishment might have been a little better.
So, having been here countless times; would I come back. Yeah. Whatever. Would I order the bolognese and call it a day--maybe. Might I bring my own bottle of Dasani.....hmmm, tough one.......
Everybody has a bad day no and again; so let's punt it today.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Jun 21, 2018Previous reviewsome crunchy, 60 something, scowling battle-ax was throwing a hissy fit, skewering the manager over what must have been a terrible slight as I sat down. It was slightly entertaining and more so annoying. Im not sure what the transgression was to have evoked such a withering outburst.
Anyways, tried the wings....they were fine, and a bit above average. Crisped in some areas and less so in others. Meatball parm Was not your usual meatball parm, it was served on ciabatta--it was good. It might have been more crisped. Maybe a bit more meatball would have made it better too....but what I gulleted was toothsome. It was thoughtfully served with Caesar Salad that was just fine.
The waitress was A+.Aug 29, 2016Previous reviewSo it was a long long day, the sort of day where the allure of sleep outweighs the pangs of hunger. So take what this salty grey has to say with a little grain of salt.
Ambience was OK-- a little too echoic for me and the blare of music was dutifully annoying. I was able to hear most of the conversation without a cupped hand to ear and speak without straining my raspy, albeit thunderous, voice. The Marc-meter for acoustics was a 4 out of 10.
The place was fairly clean but white floors in a heavily trafficked establishment.....lets just say it doesn't help their cause. The restroom cleanliness was alright-- the soap dispensers worked and the paper towels were plentiful.
The roasted Cauliflower appetizer was awesome and the ricotta cheese accompaniment was tasty as well. I had a Caesar Salad and it was smallish but tasted pretty good. The old grandma pizza (or at least that is what my daughter called it) was ok too. The soda carbonation was poor and maybe I will bring my own brixing cup and adjust the carbonation myself next time. I've been here before when they had meatball sliders--i now sorrowfully report they are off the menu. If you are looking for calamari and OK --forget it, none here.
My bed is calling....sorry the review is so short.......

Came here with the family and definitely worth coming. For appetizers we ordered buffalo calamari and an order of mozarella sticks. The buffalo calamari was spicy it was covered with Frank's buffalo sauce, it was fried perfectly as well as breaded perfectly. The mozarella sticks are just nothing special. For the entree we got the spicy picante pizza and that was the bomb. The pizza was topped with mozarella cheese with spicy pepperoni, jalapenos and it was tasty. The pizza here is really good and worth getting. My in laws ordered spicy scarpariello (definitely spelled it wrong? And chicken Parmesan. As per my in laws they enjoyed it alot. Overall great experience would come back here again

Started with the Burrata app and calamari app. Delish; the burrata was so fresh, and the calamari was perfectly seasoned, and fried. Then had the pear and Gorgonzola salad. Another classic. Lastly, tried the Popeyes pizza, and oh. my. god. This one was the one that put my meal over the edge. So so so good. Must try again.
The only thing that lacked in the awesome restaurant was the beer wall. I just wish there were more local beers! But that's not even a real complaint- just suggestion!
Over all- LOVED Frankie and Fanucci's and will definitely be back!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Aoife J.Bronx, NY28715Jan 20, 2020Updated review
Loved the ambiance! Quiet, yet inviting. ALL of the plates ordered were delicious, fresh ingredients were potent. Staff was friendly, courteous, as well as attentive.
Buffalo wings - crispy and fresh, keep your H2O on standby, slight spice
Chicken Alfredo, Penne Alla Vodka and Chicken Marsala servings were plentiful. We all took home leftovers.
Personal gripes...
1. Wasn't a fan of the buffalo wings dressing consistency and couldn't make out the flavor, whatever it was, it was light in taste.
2. Just wish they had fresh shaved Romano cheese to sprinkle on top of fomy fettuccine versus the traditional Parmesan cheese shaker.
3. Lover of roasted potatoes, but these ones didn't win me over NEVERTHELESS doesn't deter me from affording them 5 stars!
This is my second visit and there will definitely be future visits - highly recommend!

Mediocre family-friendly Italian
Sadly, I was unimpressed by my recent experience at Frankie & Fanucci's. My family and I came in around 7:45pm on a Tuesday evening and were one of only 3 parties in the entire place. We were greeted and seated promptly, and we found the ambiance of the restaurant very welcoming. We quickly noticed the new and unique self-serve draft beer and wine machine, which I have to admit is pretty cool, but we were just as quickly disappointed to hear that the restaurant was out of pre-meal bread. How does an empty Italian restaurant run out of bread? We let this go and ordered our food - 2 rigatoni dishes, a salad, and meatballs.
All of our meals arrived fairly quickly and looked appetizing at first glance. The spicy sausage rigatoni was much more flavorful than the burrata rigatoni, but both were sadly a bit greasy for my liking. The salad was good and the meatballs were the best part of the meal as they were moist and served with creamy ricotta.
Our waitress was friendly and kind, but by the time we finished our meal, she seemed to have disappeared. Despite the emptiness of the restaurant, it took us another 20 minutes to get our bill. Considering the vast array of other Italian restaurants in the area, I am not likely to come back for any $17 mediocre pasta again soon.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Anne B.Mamaroneck, NY112271Feb 23, 2017
We love the new addition to Frankie and Fanucci. The taproom is a pour your own beer and you pay by the oz. It is a great idea and haven't seen this type of thing anywhere else.
When you are pouring your beer you can read more about the beer by tapping the screen.
We've gone to F and F for years. We love the pizza but you cannot go wrong with the pasta or anything on the menu.
Sara was our server and she is always helpful and friendly. For checking in on Yelp we got a free bruschetta. Omg. SOOOO good. I'm going back and ordering that again. For dinner I had the Rigatoni and burrata with a meatball. My husband had meatball parm sandwich.
One of my favorite beers they currently have on tap is Dirty Little Freak. It's ridiculously good. They switch out the beer they have frequently because of the system they operate.
If you haven't visited Frankie and Fanucci lately you must go back and try it out.
If you've never been to Frankie and Fanucci-- what have you been waiting for?!!! Go now.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Anna M.Hartsdale, NY0121Oct 16, 2019
I hope the new restaurant the owners are planning to open is better than this one. Hiring a real chef would be a start.
The last time I walked into this one, a group of boy cooks visible to customers in "the pit" were preparing food AS THEY ATE. The chicken I ordered to go in was so over cooked it was inedible. The pizzas weren't much better. I guess I was not alone in my opinion of this place because it was always empty or near empty, now closed.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Christine K.Sarasota, FL1026184May 20, 2019Updated review
Ordered 3 different pies this weekend and depending on the toppings, you get a mixed bag. The meatball, pepperoni pizza was good but I ordered another with spinach and the spinach must have been old because that pizza smelled kinda foul. I had to remove the spinach from the pizza but it still left a lingering gross smell. Then the 3rd pie had ricotta and prosciutto. The ricotta was generous and tasted good. But the prosciutto was sliced on the thicker side and looked gray of color instead of a nice reddish pink.
Would not get any toppings here other than the traditional meatball and pepperoni.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Jan 27, 2012Previous review3 stars b/c food quality was ok. Portions though were definitely on the smaller side dropping this down to a 2.5 star, especially for the $$. The eggplant rolatini were 2 rolatinis the size of a small fist each with nothing else on the plate (which was 2-3X the size of the food). I mean would it hurt to just put some greens next to it to make it look more pleasing?? Also ordered a "large" lasagne pizza which was intended for 1 person's dinner plus leftover takeout. Ah-hem, there was NO take-out. It tasted alright - thin crust but not enough sauce for my liking and also super cheap with the meat topping. The meatballs were slliced so paper tissue-thin and then crumbled into bacon-like pieces. They also were very cheap distributing them on the pizza - honestly was probably 3 teaspoons worth on a "large" pizza. I wouldn't want to know how small the "personal" size is like.
Probably wouldn't go back. It's much further out but Remo's in Stamford, CT is much better quality & value for the $. - Josh E.Salt Lake City, UT117187141Sep 2, 2016Updated review

So glad you included your feedback card because my very recent (five minutes ago) experience at your Hartsdale branch warrants an explanation and apology.
I'll let it slide that my take away order sat on the bar for ten minutes while three waitresses tried to figure out the pos system and wasn't given to me until I asked, "who's order is that?"
But then to find that my order of a side of meatballs only included two for the price of $9 is shameful. Please help me understand how a small ball of meat can be $4.50? And how you can justify only giving two!?!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Jan 10, 2016Previous reviewBoth the pizza and the pastas are yummy. It's not your lil pizza joint but rather a casual dining experience.
