Primitive camping right on Green Bay (umm, the Bay, not the City.) A stretch of sandy beach hidden past the trees with limited spots to pup your tent , camper or (gasp) small RV. The Bay is the main attraction here, oh, and the creek. Fishing, swimming (diving into the huge crashing waves...). Settle in at night around the campfire for smores charred on a campfire built from scavenging the surrounding area. Very small town nearby in case you forgot your briquettes.

I was recently sweating to death at a wedding. Formal clothes in Michigan in the summertime is a killer. One of the other guests told me that he just drove up from Wisconsin and stopped at this park for a break and let his kids swim for a while.
The next day, I took the drive (about 25 miles South of Escanaba) to Fox Park. This park is along the highway M-35 and only indicated by one brown and white sign.
The park is a cozy piece of land with picnic tables, playground equipment, and a generous stretch of beach. That is what I was there for. The water of Lake Michigan is very clear and clean this time of year. The grade of the beach is similar to the beach at Gladstone; inasmuch as the water is shallow for maybe 20-25 yards from the shoreline. I imagine that this would be a reasonably safe location for a family to relax in. That being said, the water does get a bit deeper at about 30 yards and there is no Lifeguard service at this location at all.
Make time to visit Fox park before summer is over.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Ray S.Hessel, MI51310Mar 14, 2020
Beautiful park. Great hosts, right on the water. Lots of shade trees. Beautiful beach and clean water. Not far from a great truck stop with a restuarant and all the supplies you would need.

We come here a few times a year and we absolutely love it. Very family friendly camping. Bringing our little one here and not worrying about people complaining is perfect. The sandbars are a perfect resting spot for feeling like you're on your own private island..
My boyfriend said some inappropriate stuff about the open campsites being inconvenient for peeing in the trees so wait until sundown to have more than one.drink so no one can see you pee.. obviously being sarcastic.
Also be sure to make reservations on weekends during summer.. campsites fill up fast.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Nick L.The Villages, FL568010Jun 18, 2011
Fox Park is a piece of paradise. An excellent spot for tent camping. Pine trees, waves, and sandy campsites right on Lake Michigan. No showers, so if you need a shower, camp at the Wells State Park (a few miles North) or Kleinke Park (a few miles South). Those other parks are better for RV's too. However, if you are into simple tent camping in a truly beautiful location, Fox Park is for you.
