I've been coming to Flying Squirrel starting this spring/summer, and I'm hooked. Jamie cares deeply about your form - her classes are small, usually a max of four people, which means you get individual corrections. For me, that has meant gaining bodily awareness of my form in such a way that I feel translates into the other forms of activity I do (using my core more when I cycle, tucking my hips with I weightlift). I feel so much appreciation for Jamie's practice, her candidness, and the space she has crafted.
Whether you're new or a seasoned pilates practitioner, I think Flying Squirrel has something for everyone. I have done the reformer, Pilates class, mat/springboard, and chair/jump. I've enjoyed them all, and each one challenges me differently. I participated in this Pilates class as part of a Yelp invitation. I was not disappointed! I was once a fanatic about Pilates in my 20s, but moving across the country and such. It's hard to find a good and reasonably priced studio.
This was a challenging zoom class! At the same time it was so much fun. The instructor was friendly, easy to follow, and had plenty of helpful tips during the class. My core definitely felt it the next day! As a disclaimer, I am writing this review after only having gone to the studio once. That being said, I really enjoyed my class here and am happy that they are a partner of Class Pass so that I can hopefully attend more classes here in the future.
I had Jaimie as my instructor and thought she was great. She knew that I was new to the studio as well as new to using Pilates equipment. The class was small so she was able to be very hands-on with me and give me lots of tips on how to use the equipment properly and get the most from the exercises we were doing. This was very helpful because without her I don't think I would have been as sore the next day (in a good way!).
If you don't belong to this studio, but you are on Class Pass, I highly recommend trying this place out! I, like others, was looking for a fun new workout on a budget. FSP came onto my Groupon newsfeed for so cheap and I knew I had to try.
5 mat classes to take at any time, for $30 ish dollars. Seemed like a deal, especially since I love trying new workout styles!
Went to my first class last night. The space is interesting -- while it's in a great spot in the Third Ward, it's underground in a little basement. Kinda weird but it works for what they're doing!
Both instructors that were there when I walked in, Jamie and Hannah, were so friendly and introduced themselves to me. Hannah was our instructor for the night and quite honestly I haven't been to a workout class in awhile where the instructor was so positive and informative! She definitely made you feel like you were doing well, even if you know in your heart you weren't LOL
I've never done Pilates before so I can't comment on the class itself, other than I liked it! She went at a good pace and made sure all levels of skill were engaged, since I know there were some beginners and some advanced.
I enjoyed it and am looking forward to my next four classes. I'm not sure I'll do a membership after this but will definitely do drop-ins. Bought a Groupon to try this place out and I was pleasantly surprised!
The Groupon was an awesome deal, but had I seen their new customer offer first I would have gone that route (3 mat classes for $15!)
I had never done Pilates before so I didn't know what to expect. I've really only ever seen it done on a Reformer and the deal was just for mat classes. Our instructor, Hannah, was really fun and made sure to give modifications for the new people. She encouraged people to ask questions during the class and had great answers while still maintaining the flow of the class. It was a really great workout!
The only downside was that it's on a concrete floor. Obviously there are yoga mats down but I could see how it might be rough or uncomfortable for people with bad knees or something.

Omg Pilates might not be for me, but I would probably never have learned that without this event. This was an extreme core workout! I used my core strength in ways I just didn't know I could use it. I actually saw a lot more calories burned for me doing this type of workout than most others I've done in the past. Thank you so much for helping me get my butt back into shape!

I've been going to Flying Squirrel Pilates for 6 years now and it's just great. I was brand new to pilates when I started here and I was hooked from my first class with Jaime. She is charismatic, engaging and very knowledgeable. Jaime does a great job making each session fun and allows you to challenge yourself to get the most out of the workout. The studio is such a great place to workout, it's in the lower level of a building which gives every client privacy to focus on their own workout. The clientele is very friendly and welcoming to all newcomers - you'll never feel like an outsider even if it's your first time. I highly recommend this studio to people both well-versed and brand-new to pilates!

I live in NY but was visiting Milwaukee last weekend. Jaime was amazing--super nice and upbeat but not too peppy. She had a really nice mix of mat exercises, and I definitely felt it the next day (in a good way). She was good with all levels and I don't think anyone felt intimidated or frustrated due to her positive reinforcement throughout the class. I will definitely take her class next time I'm in Milwaukee and wish I had an instructor like her out here.

Jaime is an excellent instructor. I purchased a Groupon for a pack of classes to try pilates for the first time and have really enjoyed it. It's located in the third ward next to the Wicked Hop, and if you take the Saturday class there is free 2 hour street parking!

Jaime works around your inabilities, making you think you can do better and you do! I have artificial knee and hip and was very wary at first. Now I look forward to my hour with Jaime. I can't do everything but I give my best. I can feel muscles in these 65 yr old thighs! June
