Bubble Tea! I live about 25 minutes away from here and there are no good bubble tea places in my area.
This place has so many options. I tried the frozen mango bubble tea with strawberry jelly. It was amazing.
They have different sweets, candy, popcorn, tea, smoothies. I plan to return to try more!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Skye L.Milwaukee, WI22315May 18, 2016
This is about the Beloit location which doesn't show up on yelp.
I would have given this place 5 stars for having basically every sweet treat you can imagine, but I came here for a Taro boba smoothie specifically.
The atmosphere of Flying Pig is similar to that of being a child walking into a candy store. It is a candy store and my level of excitement was two decades younger than my actual age. Bravo Flying Pig.
Service was great and at least the time we went at, it wasn't crowded. The options at this place are unbelievable. Flavored popcorn, fudges, icecream, teas, coffee, candies, even bubble tea and smoothies!!! Wow!
I specifically got the taro smoothie with boba, and this is where my 5 star review drops down a half point (yelp doesn't do half stars). The flavor was very mild. It was more like a vanilla shake with a hint of boba. Maybe the employee didn't put enough flavor powder in??? But I came here with a craving and it was not fully satisfied. I think I would have needed to drink THREE of their taro smoothies in order to fulfill my taro flavored needs. Tisk tisk. As for the boba/pearls/bubbles/tapioca-balls...whatever the official name is....they were good. Not the best, but good. The pearls here are smaller than most places I've been to, which actually works to their advantage in my opinion. These pearls were chewy and great texture. Nice work, Flying Pig. Now if we can juuuust get your taro smoothies to taste how they should, I'd call the long drive to this place 100% worth it.
As for anyone wondering if this place is worth while--it is. There's seating at this place so it makes a nice date and you can take your fun friends who want to try strange non-white people treats, or you could take your boring friend Tim who will just order one scoop of vanilla icecream and a can of soda.
9/10 would probably go again.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Laura N.Cynthiana, KY129211034620Jul 20, 2012
On my way back to Chicago from Madison, I decided to take a little detour just outside Rockford to visit a little town called Rockton. Since I love small towns, a friend told me I should check it out some day. With a free afternoon ahead and an appetite, I looked around for a place to eat/drink and found Flying Pig. It's located in a newer commercial development not too far from Main Street.
I was originally craving a veggie sandwich of some sort. When I walked in and found out they didn't make sandwiches without meat (lame) but yet, had a huge selection of teas, smoothies, coffee, shaved ice, and bubble tea, I knew I had to to get the bubble tea!
I ordered a raspberry bubble tea. For $2.50! Two.freaking-fifty dollars! So cheap!
I took one sip and my tongue immediately did a happy dance. IT WAS SO GOOD.
I have no idea if I'll be back in Rockton again, but if I do, I'll swing by Flying Pig.
NOTE: They use milk in their bubble teas. I didn't know until I looked the receipt and saw "whole milk" listed. Fortunately, I reacted before they made it and got soy milk. I need to check my other favorite bubble tea spots to see what they make it with.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jessica S.Rockton, IL94872Apr 23, 2019Updated review
Still our family's fav place for a treat, and we are SOOO excited that we can order delivery from DoorDash. We have done so once already and everything was perfect, we were worried our treats would be melted but they weren't. My fav drink is the Thai iced tea with boba, and my fav dessert is a Blurricane shaved ice, Hawaiian style (blended with vanilla soft serve). We bring out-of-towners here for fun and send them home with gourmet popcorn or another fun treat and a t-shirt.

I'm sure there are other things too, but those are our favorites. We always want Flying Pig for a treat, even over ice cream, so I'm happy for a second location where the lines don't seem to be so long. My favorite treat is a slush blended with vanilla soft serve, especially since Sonic got rid of their CreamSlushes . My favorite slush flavor is impossible to determine, I've liked every one I've tried, so has my daughter. It seems like our choices just keep getting better!
Apr 21, 2012Previous reviewGreat shaved ice, which is what my daughter and I originally went for (being solid fans of the neon green trailer on Hononegah Rd. in past summers), but I was thrilled to find out that the menu has been greatly extended. They now have Bubble Teas and Smoothies, which I was previously buying from Imperial Palace. They are both delicious, but Flying Pig offers a smaller (12 oz?) portion for $2.50 that I prefer. I am so happy that they chose this location, it is extremely close to home, and I anticipate that they will see us often.
One of the reasons we go so often is because they have a large sugar-free menu of shaved ice flavors, and my daughter is diabetic, so this is a better option for her than ice cream, custard or frozen yogurt.
The staff was friendly and went out of their way to help me the first time I went in and saw that they didn't have my favorite flavor (honeydew) on the menu. I was disappointed and ordered a mango instead, but the employees dug around and found the honeydew flavored mix and offered to make me one! I accepted and it was delicious. They said the owner must not have put it on the menu yet. I couldn't ask for better service than that! Oh, and they smiled and greeted me when I went in, and said goodbye when I left, even though they were busy. I highly recommend Flying Pig, Happiness in a cup.
Here are the headings from their menu:
Coffee, most available hot or iced
Espresso, most available hot or iced
Other Hot Drinks
Frappes
Shaved Ice
Smoothies, can add boosters and/or oatmeal powder, granola or protein powder

This is about the Beloit location which doesn't show up on yelp.
A really fun place with a large selection of fudge, cookies smoothies, popcorn, etc.
The staff was friendly and helpful. The menu items we had, smoothies, coffee and a Maui Freeze, were excellent.
The facility was clean and well lit with ample seating. A completely enjoyable visit and we will certainly go again. One suggestion: some t-shirts and coffee cups with the logo to purchaseHelpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Johanna K.Milwaukee, WI157409101Apr 11, 2016
What a lot of fun! Great spot for a date, a meet-up with friends, or for parents and kids.
Fudge, assorted candy, coffee drinks, ice cream, on and on. They have all the goodies here. Really fun and cute interior too, and the staff were friendly and patient. The store was clean and never too loud or busy, despite a steady stream of business.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Rosie T.Chicago, IL3996139Aug 22, 2014
Hip, hip, hurray! I'm so thrilled about this! It's like an old fashioned candy shop gone modern kid cafe. Everything from the bright decor to the menu screams "fun"!
Don't worry they have espresso too!
We will be back. Again. And again.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Neel K.Beloit, WI74361416May 28, 2014
Great shaved ice and really nice location just on the rock river. What truly blew me away was the green tea smoothie. I have never had a beverage so refreshing. I had the guava/passion fruit mix which was amazing!!!!
My kids had the ice cream and the shaved ice, both of which were very good. In addition there is also at least 50 different types of candy you can try.
Overall a great snack store with a huge assortment of shaved ice and smoothies. We will definately be back next time we are in Rockton.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jodi M.Rockton, IL2171Nov 15, 2013
