Floyd's 99 Barbershop

When my longtime stylist skipped town and left the country about 10 years ago, I started going to Floyd's. Split my time between the Melrose and Hollywood locations when we lived mid-city. Now that we live out in NELA, the Pasadena location has become my spot for the past several years. I didn't even think of trying anywhere different since I knew what to expect by choosing Floyd's

Granted, I'm a guy with a simple haircut that's remained mostly unchanged since the center part went out of style at the turn of the century but I've always had great experiences at Floyd's, both with the staff and the finished results.

Kat has been my go-to stylist for almost a year now. She's super friendly and blindingly quick with precision scissor work. She somehow combines the speed of Edward Scissorhands with the exacting detail of Otto, the legendary owner of Otto's Barbershop in my hometown where the only haircut on the menu is a high and tight. Don't know how she does it but it's a remarkable skill to have.

Kat's always up for a few laughs and has a knack for picking up our conversation right where it left off during my last visit. In an age where everything is delivered to your front door, it's a nice change of pace to take a break from the day and step out into the world and I always look forward to visiting Floyd's (and not just because Randy's Donuts is conveniently located next door).

I've been coming here on and off for years. Recently, Lily R has been cutting my hair and she's the absolute best! Her cuts are fast, precise and always FRESH! I highly recommend her! I also come here for the Floyd's molding paste, it's the only product I use on my hair. If you're planning on visiting over the weekend, I would recommend making an appointment because they get pretty busy. Weekdays are easier if you're walking-in.

Great place for custom hair cuts. Tita did a fantastic job with His Majesty. He's very particular about his hair and he was very pleased with the outcome. Highly recommended.

The Pasadena location was nice and well maintained. I had a last minute date and needed a haircut, stat! They were quick to pencil in my appointment later that day.
The Barber was skilled and quick. Great customer service

Terrible service.
I took both of my kids for haircuts and they were both almost crying afterwards. That's how bad their haircuts were. I tipped both of the hairdressers (because you are sort of forced to do so) but I shouldn't have.
I explained (and the kids also did) the style and length of the haircuts (with several pictures as examples)
Apparently the hairdressers weren't skilled enough to understand or even try to get close to the requests.
One star, just because I can't use negative numbers.

Very nice, Classic-rock inspired decor and ambiance. I walked in (should have gotten an appointment, but it was my first time). They assigned me a girl with tattoos, glasses and black hair. I forgot to ask for her name, but she did a great job and I tipped her 25% in cash for the excellent haircut. The actual haircut was US$38.oo which is not bad. Will definitely be back (maybe after booking an appointment with any of the stylists beforehand, though).

First arrived in the US and got my haircut here. Was not impressed at all. Didn't listen to what I wanted done, and just went ahead and did her own thing.

The should massage after also was used with a machine that you can buy yourself. For the price here for a haircut, it's not worth it and so expensive.

Iv been here a few times and the stylists were always very cool but I wasted 40 minutes driving here for them to cancel my appointment. I was 10 minutes late but it was literally because I had to circle the block to look for parking. Huge waste of time. Won't be coming back.

I've been here twice and had a great experience both times. The staff are great and you can tell the stylists are passionate about their work. Will be back!

I'm not sure of the guy's name that cut my hair, anyway... I had asked for a high fade and the guy started cutting my hair with no GUARD!?? I could've had a better cut if I were to do it myself. I ended up getting charged $39 for
