Cute place for a nice weekend. The little corner shop was a plus. Easily accessible to highway and Good size comfy bed. Would book again.

Eh....nothing special. I had to find a place sort of last minute and this was within the budget. The rooms are really dated. I ended up moving to a second room because the first one smelled so bad of smoke I could barely breathe. It's a 100% non-smoking hotel, but it appeared that maybe some neighboring rooms did not follow that rule. There were a bunch of people hanging around outside that seemed to be partying. The room I moved to was much better. It was clean, but still rather dated. The front desk staff, however, was really nice and helpful and willing to do what they could for folks. There were coffee makers and plenty of coffee (which is a plus) in the rooms. Refrigerator and microwave also. The beds though were very uncomfortable.

When you see 4 and 5 star reviews for this place consider the source before booking... I travel frequently and I know how to rate hotels. I was on my annual bus trip with Diamond Tours and this is where they booked us. I spent 5 nights here in August. Upon arrival it isn't terrible but lacks curb appeal. Inside, the rooms are in desperate need of an update. They are musty and dingy. The ACs were pretty gross as well. My first floor room had a sliding window to the outside and it was open a few inches. Luckily I moved the curtain and checked the window, otherwise it would have stayed open all week!
I found the staff to be friendly but not engaging. The breakfast was crowded and lacked any healthy options. I still went though so I could socialize with the tour group. I did drink the coffee and it was not good.
There was a dinner with entertainment there on our last night. Like other reviews have said, the food here was really good. I was surprised.
I would certainly look for other options before booking here. If it is the only option it will do.Helpful 5Thanks 1Love this 3Oh no 1 - Jul 11, 2016
First of all, big thank you to Andre in the dinning room for being such a wonderful host and sharing such wonderful stories. He gets a full 5 stars on his own.
WiFi is very fast. Staff is friendly and unpretentious. No mints on the pillow bu you do get a treat when you check in. It's a sweet chocolate cake with marshmallow filling.
Rooms are clean and roomy with two cozy arm chairs near window. Not a fancy updated place but online with price. Fridge and single serve keurig coffee maker fairly new. Pillows are fluffy, firm and comfy. Not full sized.
Indoor and outdoor pool plus gym. Large and clean.
We were there in July on a Monday and the place was nice and quiet. The bar has a serve yourself popcorn machine.
Two fold up beds were in different halls propped up against the wall. Another piece of equipment, which may have been a blower, was also left in the hall.
I would stay here again. My criteria for this price range was reasonably met.Helpful 4Thanks 1Love this 3Oh no 0 - Geoffrey R.Canton, MA2411555Apr 17, 2018Updated review
Ridden hard and put away wet
We stayed in one of the King Suites with our family.
I have stayed in 2 star to 5 star hotels and this is a 3 star hotel with a ton of deferred maintenance.
When we checked in the staff was very nice. When walking in I started to see a lot of long in the tooth pieces of this hotel. The door locks are super loose. The carpets look to have been replaced recently, but not well. There are a bunch of dips in the carpet between rooms etc.
Then we get to the furniture. The pull out couch has a 10% or more decline when pulled out. The furniture looks like it has been there a long time with major gashes out of the legs and scratches in the tops. The light shades are all cracked and crumbling. The blankets have quite a few rips and wear in them. They are clean but old.
The heating system seems to shut off when you leave the room? We set it to 68 as it was 62 when we came in. Every time we came back it was cold again and we had to play with thermostat to kick back on.
The TV's are decent sizes, but they have terrible quality analog only feeds. We didn't come here to watch anything, but even watching 30 minutes of tv was painful.
The bathroom caulking was coming off a bit and had mold in them. The bathrooms also didn't have any fans so the ceilings were cracked and peeling and the hinges on the bathroom doors were rusted quite a bit.
The room we stayed in had a fireplace, which looks like the glass has never been cleaned inside, and is super smoky and cloudy.
The indoor pool was in pretty decent shape and quite warm.
It was ok for a night, but we won't be coming back. Many better options for similar pricHelpful 3Thanks 1Love this 1Oh no 1Apr 14, 2018Previous reviewRidden hard and put away wet

UPDATE:
After writing the review the heater sounded like it was a plane taking off. We were moved into a normal room. After moving into this room we realized it had major water damage and mold, but it was so late we just stayed. On checkout the staff was nice and we got a discount, but imho with what we dealt with it should have just been a free pass.
Also, the complimentary breakfast was terrible. The eggs were like rubber, the juice glasses were the size of shot glasses, and the plates the size of teacup saucers. - Drew K.Tacoma, WA24510Aug 2, 2021
Several shady folks cruising around the parking lot. The sort of don't leave your valuables in the car vibe there. Night manager Nick refused to refund me for the room after I told them I would not be staying with them because there was "nothing wrong" with the room.

We booked same-day in order to move from another hotel in Portland that was under construction and got a decent rate for 3 nights.
The rooms themselves are tired - especially the bathrooms - but they appeared clean with a Keurig coffee maker (and plenty of pods). They also have a small fridge and microwave. The bathrooms have a room-wide counter-top so plenty of room for toiletries.
There are plenty of extra outlets in the lamp bases and on one side of the bed. The other side did not even have a lamp. I had to pull the bedside table out to plug my phone in.
The neighbors on 2 of the 3 nights were very noisy and the adjoining door - although closed (obvs) just made the noise worse.
The breakfast is certainly nothing to write home about, but it kept us going until lunch. There were 2 warm options included (there is no way you could ever describe them as 'hot') and cereal, bread etc. There is also an option to order hot items a la carte, which is extra.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Lauren T.Boston, MA2526May 22, 2019
The hotel itself was just OK, the location is convenient to Allagash and close enough to downtown where an Uber won't break the bank. The staff (specifically during the day) is what is hurting this hotel. The cleaning staff woke us up early in the morning (7:30am) and when we complained about this issue we were told by an extremely rude staff member that "it is your word against theirs" (referring to the cleaning staff) and said "take care of them, I do not know what to do with them" (about us to a coworker) among other extremely rude comments. We obviously complained to the GM at this point and were given a partial refund. The GM should not have to pull tapes and waste his time on something that a receptionist could have handled with some basic customer service functions. So it cost us a few hours of sleep and we got an $80 refund for an awful experience.
I want to point out that the staff in the night/evening were fine. The morning/day staff were not. People are choosing this hotel out of a large handful of options. A face at your front desk who was short toned and rude with every guest in line will hurt your hotel.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Bailey B.Nashua, NH11117May 22, 2019
Hotel was mediocre, the breakfast was okay. But nothing would make up for the complete lack of customer service I received here.
I stayed with a few girl friends over a long weekend. We were promptly woken up at 7 am by a very loud and disrespectful cleaning crew. We called down to voice our complaints and were met with yet another staff members disrespect. We finally decided to go speak with a service rep at the front desk and were told that a manager could not assist as he was setting up a function for other guests. After checkout we voiced the concern again and were met with more disrespect and side comments. After a lot of back and forth with management, we were only awarded a small refund on our stay.
If you want to stay here, maybe you could use the 20% coupon we were given as a laughable consolation prize for our nightmare of a stay.
We will not be returning.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Romy A.Watertown Town, MA2320Aug 14, 2019
I'm just going to make a list. I was there for 4 nights. CONS:
1. heat/cool thermostat not working.
2. The beds caused MAJOR sweating.
3. We had no fresh towels for two days, even though we asked for them.
4. the shower didn't drain- ugh. Front desk said they're all that way.
5. The restaurant was staffed by one person who couldn't take our order because she didn't speak one word of English.
6. The room was filthy and dusty.
7. Did I say we had no fresh towels?
8. The furniture was shoddy. Room not vacuumed at all during our stay.
PROS: Beautiful outdoor pool with quaint Gazebo.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
