We love the food. The service. The simple menu which every dish is spectacular!
The wine list is extensive. Please ask to meet Fernando who coons your dishes.
My favorite the corvina.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0May 23, 2021Previous reviewWe have been wanting to try this place for a while. We went on a week night there were only two other tables. Very nice decor when you come in. Nice attentive service but not on top of us. The food was great and the winelist very good also. We will be back.

Went here for my husbands birthday thinking it would be a nicer dining experience. My husband got a steak which came out more rare than the requested medium rare. I got the paella which wasn't anything fantastic either.
What really ruined my experience was the attending staff. We were hoping for a nice, quiet evening, but the amount of times a man, who I'm going to assume was the manager/owner, came over, made my mood sour as the night progressed.
He made comments multiple times about how my husband and I weren't talking enough which got old after the 3rd, 4rd mention? Sorry we're not talking at the top of our lungs to each other in a restaurant occupied by us and other elderly group of people.
During the entire dinner, it was us (27 and 30) and an elderly group, which just goes to show how not many people choose to dine here anyway.
He clearly didn't read our mood and didn't understand that we didn't understand the jokes? he was making.
I would have left early, had we not already ordered, but we just wanted to be left alone to eat.
Definitely would not recommend if you're younger than 40....seems fit for an older crowd. But in all, I just wouldn't recommend.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Nick L.TX, TX01Jul 29, 2023
What a fantastic place! We went last night for our 33rd wedding anniversary. IT has a lovely quiet ambiance.
The service was spot on and welcoming. Fernando came out to talk to us. He is funny and inviting. We started with the very fresh and flavorful ceviche My wife had the Carne Asada. I could not decide on the steak, Corvina , and lamb. Fernando said, "I can make you all three!" All excellent. For dessert, we had the Tres Leches and Key lime pie. Both fantastic. Highly recommended!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Brigitte M.South Austin, Austin, TX023Jun 4, 2023
What a lovely gem! We were visiting from Austin and stumbled on Fernando's. Every morsel of food was devine: starting with the complimentary plantain chips, the empanadas, the succulent lamb chops and the amazingly delicious shrimp Fernando. The chocolate flan did not disappoint and the key lime pie was the best I've ever tasted, The service was attentive and Fernando is a jewel. He amused us with his dry sense of humor. Fernando's will be on our list next time we visit. What a beautiful, romantic restaurant with class A service.

The food was excellent, for appetizers we had the empanadas, for dinner, I had the Lamb chops and my husband had the Sirloin and Corvina. Lamb was cooked to perfection also the Sirloin. We had a great service , it was the day after Valentine and there were only 5 tables. The restaurant is beautiful and they used to have live music on Saturday, but not since COVID . We had the Tres Leches but that's the only disappointment of the night, it was dry.

The food was great. We had the ceviche which tasted fresh and flavorful. Was nice with the complimentary plantain chips.
I had the Corvina, the signature fish dish. It was fresh with sides of black bean / rice, plantain and a vegetable medley. The fish was soft fried with a sauce. Very tasty. My husband had the shrimp Fernando. Fried shrimp (4pc) with Angel hair pasta. Both excellent. Would have liked a vegetable.
Desert, we couldn't decide between tres leches and chocolate bread pudding so he gave us a half slice of each. Both were delicious but bread pudding took the prize.
Drinks were strong and not exactly made to order but had great selection is liquor and wine.
Service was fantastic, servers were super tentative with everything. The waiters were funny, entertaining and helpful.
There was a piano and dance floor but for a Thursday night, nothing going on. I suspect they may use this space over the weekend!
Little hidden gem, I thought was a hotel or dance club... good find l! RecommendHelpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Theresa G.Stafford, TX010May 13, 2023
We have been looking forward to coming here for a long time. We came for Mother's Day for my mother in law who was excited to try the paella and the corvina. She is from Ecuador. We ordered the sampler platter for 2 and we got 2 of them. It was 52 dollars total for the appetizer and we didn't even get one whole empanada. Each plate had 1 shrimp, 1/4 empanada and a tablespoon of ceviche. We could have gotten a full order of each thing and it would have only cost 40. I was embarrassed I took my in laws here, the paella was just watery rice. I lived in Spain and have had good paella. This was disappointing. Also, the entire restaurant had one waiter, one guy cleaning the tables and serving plantain chips and no hostess. Literally 4 people working the whole restaurant. The ceviche was fresh and delicious, the empanadas were delicious and the fried shrimp was also amazing, I just would like to have had 1 whole empanada. The Corvina was also delicious. Carne asada was decent. Still disappointed in service and tiny little appetizer. whole restaurant was warm as well and it was a cooler rainy day.

Date Night at Fernando's! Using our #AllInForSLTX gift card! Highly recommend the Corvina "Signature Fish", white filet Ecuadorian fish dipped in egg wash finished in a lemon butter and wine sauce. Sooo yummy! I order this dish every time I visit!

I came here last night for a friends birthday party and had the absolute worst experience. Our waiter continued to make sexual comments all night long, which made us very uncomfortable. We were then chastised at the end of the dinner when we wanted to split our check. We will never go back and I do not recommend this place to anybody. We should have known when we came in on a Saturday night and the restaurant was empty.

Elegant dining room,, superb service, and amazing food with lovely presentation. What else could you ask for? They always make us feel so special. Like we are part of their family. What a wonderful way to celebrate special occasions or no occasion. Don't miss out on Fernandos in Sugar Land. We will be back soon!
