I found this place while waiting to do a photography job near The Drag. I'm glad I went. I ordered the Italiano. I don't know why I find the classic Italian combo as my flavor-tape-measure in a sandwich, but I do. Know this: there are no potato chips, just fries and tots. The sandwich I had didn't have too much bread (like many of the big sandwich chains) and plenty of meat (unlike many of the big sandwich chains). The meat and the dressings were freaking delicious. The hot peppers I requested blended into the bites unlike any others I've had on a sandwich before.

But there was a taste that lingered. It tasted like uncooked flour. I couldn't resist the great cold cuts and kept eating. But the after taste of flour lingered, which shouldn't have been there for such an appropriately lean portion of bread for a sub.

But here's the thing: I kept eating. The flavor of the meats was delicious. As I walked out, though, the taste in my mouth was flour. And they don't have potato chips. So, I'll go back and give the sandwiches another try, won't expect potato chips, will expect great meat flavors and hope and pray the proper amount of bread for a sandwich doesn't give me a disproportional amount of after flour after-taste.

Italiano. Shut the front door! It's delicious!!

Was really excited about eating a fat sandwich with fries, chicken finger mozarella stick sandwiched in. That's all really unique, as I recall the days when I put fries into my happy meal burger and considered myself a genius. As expected the sandwiches are all fairly good size.

It seemed like all the sandwiches all have the interesting appetizer combo platter of fried cheese sticks, chicken fingers and side of fries included in each sandwich. I wonder right anybody has ever asked for the sandwich deconstructed to better enjoy each bite. Haha probably not, the sandwiches are labeled "fat" sandwiches.

This place is perfect for being on a college campus as it is just what you want while in college.

They had so many varieties, this time I ordered an Italian one, a brisket one, a Philly cheese steak one.

I tasted the BBQ sauce in the Texas, but otherwise there was not too much to distinguish each sandwich from another because of the similar chicken finger fries and fried cheese stick. They were good, and I think you definitely need to have a beer with each sandwich as well.

We saved a sandwich for later and it definitely doesn't taste good cold. So devour each right away, down a beer and cheer for sports on the tv!

If I wanted to find a place to watch a game and be amongst college folk, I'll go to Sal's. It's the right atmosphere to enjoy all of the above with a beer and a fat sandwich.

Parking available in the back, though easy to miss the entrance. There are a number of TV's with sports on. I imagine it could become quite crowded on game days.

Waited in line for 10 minutes, eager to order a Western Pastrami Burger, only to be told "we can't do that right now, we're really backed up, it's just too much work."

      What?!
      A) Why is it on your menu? Put a sign to deter folks from anticipating it then.
      B) Or of it's "too much," then charge another 5 bucks to purchase it.
      C) "Backed up" is 5 minutes to get your food out? If that's backed up then your cook/establishment ain't cut out for the food service industry.

Since I was a hungry sucker, I ordered the regular pastrami sandwich. It was tasty, but was it worth the $10, the fruitless wait, and the attitude? Probably not.

      Fat Sal's was Legit!

The sandwiches were big and full of meat! Just like a deli would. I won't go into what I had because I would probably bore you with my picky-ness. However, they were very accommodating and got my order right! My Fiancée has the "Phenomenal Philly Cheesesteak" it was good They don't serve mushrooms and you have to request the ranch. They will put it on if asked, but you may need an extra side of it too. My Future MIL ordered the "Terrific Turkey Club" and she said she loved it.
NONE OF US finished our sandwich and have half of one for tomorrow's lunch. I recommend sharing the fries and sandwich if you can. If there isn't anyone, then you will have leftovers.

The fries were good, they reminded me of Dairy Queen's (about 10 years ago, before they changed their recipe) fries. I highly recommend them!
The Cheese fries were a bust. "Booooo" I think the chili cheese fries would be awesome! I'll let you know the next time I go.

Loved the music too! 90's rap is my jam! I was loving every second of being there! Multiple TVs to give you a bar like setting. All tall chairs. Didn't see any regular ones for people who don't like bar style seats.

      I'll definitely be back!

Walked by and saw this place didn't have many customers. Still gave it a chance due to being low on time to eat as I was helping to co-direct a state-wide conference. The food came out timely, the price was decent and their coke freestyle was awesome. I like the fact that they have high and low tables and tv's to watch the news, music, etc. I recommend doing cheesy fries on their regular fries, they come out amazing! Their sandwiches especially their italian one is delicious!

Ok. The food I'm sure is good. When it's hot. But, if you look at their menu and check out their selection of decadent choices I assure you none of them is good cold. The problem likely resided not as much with the restaurant but the delivery service they recommend.. Favor.

The order took more than an hour and half to complete and the restaurant is literally two blocks away. The cost of the sandwich and onion rings $21. Not cheap. But, again - the sandwiches are decadent.

Add in the $7 delivery charge and we're talking $28 for a lunch that was cold, unappetizing and represented very poor value, particularly since it's in a neighborhood that is concentrated with many great alternatives. Not likely to eat her again. Unless I can dine in - forget it.

So the concept of the hearty comfort foods all combined into extremely unhealthy sandwiches and creations seems like a great idea. Everything on the menu certainly sounds appetizing and very bad for you. Ironically though, I will have to say that their healthier options- more specifically the Korean bbq steak salad- is one of the better tasting dishes. The albacore tuna salad was pretty plain and tasteless, as well as the buffalo chicken rolls and fries. The buffalo chicken rolls sounded like a dream but were disappointingly anticlimactic. The fat buffalo sandwich was a little better, but not surprisingly left a very bad stomach ache.

I do love the storefront though- very casual with an outdoor patio that faces guad. The restaurant has a lot of potential, but I have yet to try food that would make me want to come back- besides the fact that it's conveniently close to where I live. I somehow got the idea that their milkshakes contained alcohol (which they don't) and would have LOVED to try one, so maybe someday they will have something of the sort!

Tasty on the run kind of food. You hold it while you're walking the streets in Texas. It was loaded with fries which was super surprising - I wasn't expecting it at all, but it went well together. The wait is a bit long though. I will definitely try another flavor/item next time. It was a sandwich wrap so if you need something on the go, this is the place.

So glad I came here and can't wait to go again. I got the fat banh mi-ki. It was delicious. The bread was on point, perfect amount of meat and veggies. I went after the lunch hour rush so didn't have to wait.

Good food if you're a slob. Actually the sandwich here was pretty bad. Not good by any means. Just a bunch of freezer items fried and put in a sandwich for you. Not cheap either. 14 dollars for a mediocre sandwich is unacceptable.

Freezer items: french fries mozzarella sticks chicken finger onion rings

Unfortunately i was sober when i ate this and i found it to be absolutely awful and over priced.
