Excel Taekwondo Academy

Changing my review solely on the base they did not teach my son who made it all the way to green belt to kick with his other foot. They just want to test you to belt up every so many days to charge you for the testing , and belt up without even caring if the kids get enough training. My son was out with a head injury and they ranked him up despite him being off. And he was a green belt with no actual green belt training. As a result he got a foot injury later due to him using only his right foot to kick and break targets repeatedly, this injuring right toe eventually when taken to an MRI as he started complaining after stopping there . Luckily we moved and he went to another studio they actually taught him how to fight and work out in martial arts in a balanced we are using both feet and no testing gimmicks when kids are clearly not prepared. Honored his belt from Excel Taekwondo Victorville. However he was at a severe disadvantage, could not compete like that in the tournament because they didn't train him right. And they can't say it's because he was 6 when he started the other studios near me all train their kids younger than 6 that practice actual Taekwondo forms , starting at white belt. He has to unlearn everything he taught. And pays WAY less at his current studio that is in a better location and offers 3 times a week for cheaper than what Excel charged for 2 times a week. The instructors were only one actual master , who did not teach it was mostly student black belts , they were indeed welcoming towards my son at Excel and monumental in his grieving of the loss my son faced in his personal life, however they are a money grab and give you trophies and accolades belts with absolutely no regard to physical SAFTEY of the kids. Because they are not training them now to effectively practice. More focused on photo ops , belting ceremonies when the kids are leaning hardly at all, and using on foot!! And they will pass you for not earning it. If you actually want you kids to succeed , please take them to a studio where the master actually teaches not his students and they take taekwondo seriously

I highly recommend Excel Taekwondo, Claremont located in the Baseline shopping center next to Vons. My son absolutely loves it! His instructor, Master Rhee is a phenomenal teacher and mentor. He teaches the kids of all ages discipline, self control, indomitable spirit, perseverance and having a positive attitude. Master Rhee makes the lessons fun yet challenging. My son looks forward to every session and wants to arrive early to get started. My son is listening better at home and seems more confident and most importantly happy.I think it's a great foundation of principles for kids of all ages. Thank you Master Rhee!

I needed to pick up my friend's kid from his class here at Excel. Had some time to spare so I came a little early to check out the class and whoop on his Master (jk)
I thought I'd just be watching a bunch of kids flailing their arms and legs, but was actually a little impressed with how Master Rhee handled everyone. He's very firm with his students, but at the same time the kids look like they're having fun. He encourages them but keeps it real and gives them constructive criticism, none of that babying crap making kids feel entitled.

My friend's kid really likes coming to his classes here and my friend told me that his kid's behavior has been improving. It's nice to see genuine people teaching the younger generation how to defend themselves and be good, decent human beings.

My 9 yr old niece is a nice kid.. but having a great disciplinary coach, exercise, and self defense could never hurt. I like to visit her alot from Orange County, so the last time I was there, we visited a few TKD dojos, and ended up at Excel TKD Academy. Thank Goodness!

Cannot give enough stars to this place! A million stars! My son started a few months ago and was very shy and didn't want to try any sports.
Master Rhee is really the most attentive, caring and generous teacher. The first day was rough and if it wasn't for him my son would've given up.

My niece has some serious case of ADHD. When I first met Master Rhee, I was a little underwhelmed by his presence. However, the level of professionalism that he displayed was overwhelming. In just a month, Master Rhee was able to help my niece with focus and she is much happier. I'm so relieved I brought my niece here. She is getting stronger and more disciplined. I hope she doesn't kick my ass one day!

My small person has been coming to Excel Taekwondo for nearly 6 months. The amount of confidence and strength that this training has instilled in her is nearly immeasurable. She is 5 and though some of her classmates may be older she has learned so much just from trying to keep up with the big kids. All the instructors and Master Rhee show so much and consideration for the kids. They really are a Blackbelt Academy with Blackbelt Attitute. If you are considering martial arts for yourself or your kids, I can not recommend anyone higger than Master Rhee and his team.

I love this place for my two kids. Master Rhee is a very patient teacher. He makes kids earn the next belt, that way they get a sense of pride that they accomplished it themselves. I highly recommend this place. It is well worth your $$$. Take your kids here you won't regret it. Master Rhee is very traditional, and teaches disclipine.
