Q:
Does the pub show EPL games that are on NBC sports gold?
A:
I was there for the first time. Sorry I wish I could give you a more concrete answer. I was too involved in my family's conversation and enjoying the moment we had together.

Went with my friend to grab a bite to eat. The outside patio was closed makes no sense on a Saturday? Anyway we ordered our food burgers the waitress asked how would we like our burgers? I said That i wanted mine medium 20 minutes later she brings me out a tiny Linguisa sandwich I'm like wtf? Anyway I corrected her ten minutes later she brings me a burger it was overlooked hard and bland it seems like this place is really gone down hill our bill was $45 for two tiny bland burgers and two beers total ripoff and 0$ for the tip This Place Sucks no wonder it was empty.

I was on my way to meet up a friend, but had some time to kill. After looking at a map of San Leandro, I decided to make a detour to Englander. I stopped by on Friday, May 3rd around 6:15pm. It wasn't too busy, so I managed to find a seat at the bar.
I got a shot of Jameson Irish Whiskey ($10) and a bottle of Bud Light ($5.10). I was here for about 30 mins, so I was able to chill and sip my drinks. The bar itself is kinda divey, but also bright inside, so I felt like I was kinda doing some happy hour day drinking. The bar was mainly patrons by themselves enjoying some drinks, so I fit right in. There is a patio area too, which would have been fun if I wasn't by myself. I do love patios.
Not a bad bar to grab a drink. Though at $10 for a Jameson, I did find it a touch pricey.Helpful 7Thanks 0Love this 7Oh no 0 - Feb 20, 2020Updated review
Went on the Castro Valley News Page and they shared that this place is closing at the end of the month. It's sad to see this go, as I got attached to this place when Ploughmans was closed down and they were serving breakfast. However was disappointing when they were not open despite when they said they were.
Guess it's Pelton's from now on for breakfast, or Elios.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0Dec 8, 2019Previous reviewSays it's open tried to go in its locked, was totally bummed about it as we wanted to eat breakfast there. Please do not put on an open sign and say that you are open when Yelps hours say 7 am for Sunday
Sep 2, 2018Previous reviewSo, not bad for the first time at breakfast. After Ploughmans closed down, all of the servers and cooks here were picked up and hired by the owners of this joint.
It is a total sports bar for sure with plenty of seating. I like the atmosphere of the bar area and so forth. Breakfast menu is identically the same as Ploughmans had, well I was told basically it was because of the cooks and so forth.
Anyways, it was easy to get seating in here. Was told to sit whereever we liked. The waitress who waited on us was great. There was also another waiter there too to check on us.
Food was just as good as Ploughmans...... And you have a bigger variety of beers here too. You can order cocktails too if you desire, something you could not do at the other place except for a few choice beers.
We are deducting one star from five because we thought the table service to get our food was a bit slow and there was only 3 tables being waited on inside too so the delay was not necessary but was not a deal breaker since they picked up everything we liked about Ploughmans.
Since it's a place that serves alcohol, I am not sure if kids are allowed, you may wish to ask about that if you want to take the family out to eat. Just thought I'd get that tid bit out there since Yelp asked some survey questions about what this place is good for... - May 20, 2019
Not a bad spot for San Leandro. When I think of San Leandro, I usually don't think downtown bars or places to eat. But this is my 2nd time here and I have to say, not bad.
Even though they ran out of some of the beer that was on the menu, the prices are pretty decent. However, the Lumpia is way overpriced but whatever.
I liked that during sporting events they lower the big screens projectors and they are fully prepared and staffed for it, so the service isn't super slow and everything comes within a reasonable amount of time.
So last of all, the food.
The Tandoori Chicken Nachos - perfection. They are so good and loaded with everything, I can't say enough about these but they are so good for the price and they taste amazing.
The Popcorn Chicken - I wouldn't even call it popcorn really, they are just big chunks of deep friend chicken. Can't go wrong
Artichoke/Crab dip was ok. Missing a lot of the main ingredients (crab and artichoke). But they hook you up with toasted and buttered baguettes which were SO good.. not super toasty and not super soft, just perfect.
If you're looking for a random place to eat or want to check out a game, come here! :-)Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Jan 9, 2020
As we approached the door with a stroller and a toddler, the hostess did not bother to open and hold the door for us, even though she could see us coming. I ordered a cheeseburger that was missing toppings. The beef patty was almost non existent, and it was burnt (I asked for medium rare). The chicken sandwich lacked flavor and was also missing toppings that we requested. They added gratuity automatically even though we weren't in a large group. The hostess was also our waitress and she didn't have a single ounce of good customer service. When we left, no one thanked us for dining and no one helped us with the door. I will not go back to this excuse for a restaurant again, and I don't recommend unless you like burnt burgers.

This is a great sports bar. Close to 20 screens. Multiple football games basketball golf any sport that's broadcast is available.
The bar service is awfully slow. Only one bartender for nearly 30 tables and long bar.
The fish and chips were very good. The fries are plentiful and crispy.
The calamari was crispy but tough.
The servers are friendly but they were understaffed.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 434117402Dec 31, 2018
I'm so sad to give them two stars but I have to .....
I've been coming here since I was a kid because my mother was friends with the owner ! It's always been that homey local neighborhood food and bar since I was a kid ( I also had my baby shower here as well as my sister ) there's plenty of space , seating and TVs inside so definitely good for groups and to watch the game..... they also do live comedy and show cases for local artists which is cool ....
But their food is horrible ! They've definitely lost their quality of food throughout the years . The ONLY thing I enjoy there is the crab dip that comes with bread . Everything else is bland or just not cooked right . When you order buffalo wings you expect saucy red wings , right ? Mines were dry , not red and not even hot ?! Numerous times I give them a chance just off of love for them for all the years they've been around for everyone including my family , and every time I say why didn't I just go somewhere else lol . Seems like everything is freezer food you can buy and cook better yourself at home .
I give it 2 stars because of the food . But it's perfect for what it is , a sports bar .Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Ken S.Vallejo, CA77978103Aug 18, 2019
Had a great time at the Englander Pub during a special event. It has been a few years since i have been there and it brought me back to some good times.
They have a good menu and plenty of cold beer on tap with a full bar. The staff is friendly and helpful as well.

I know this long-time, local pub may not be what it used to be based on yelp reviews. But, my other half and I have been here 3-4x in the past 5 months and have had great experiences. We live a few blocks away and it's so nice to be able to walk there, chill/eat/drink/watch a sports game (tons of big screens everywhere) & leisurely walk back home. We tend to go before the dinner crowd comes in because we're in our early 40's and that's how we roll.
We're always given excellent customer service as soon as we walk in, barely have to wait & awesome server SETH has taken care of us twice. He's super friendly, courteous, attentive & gets our food and drink orders quickly. You'd think he's on roller skates.
I had the California burger (with avocado, bacon & melted cheese) & it was pretty damn tasty. The fries were good but I would have enjoyed them more if they were crispier (just my preference). Other half had the fish & chips & enjoyed it. My Stoli screw drivers were strong (which I appreciated very much). In the past I've ordered a french dip sandwich (don't remember the name), fish & chips & a huge chicken pot pie; all delicious! We'll be back again probably next month (on payday) & maybe check out their comedy night or live music. :)Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 20434202963May 10, 2016
I wanted to really like this place. It's a large restaurant with plenty of TVs to celebrate any sporting event PLUS it's within 10 minutes of my house. All good things for sure.
But the service here is unfortunately not up to par. Granted, my group of four came during a warriors playoff game this past Monday so there were plenty of people they needed to cater to. I wouldn't say they were crazy busy though..there were still plenty of empty seats. From getting seated to actually getting our food we waited over 45 minutes, which is very long when you're hungry. Then after that, our waitress hardly came back. We wanted to order desserts but by the time she checked on us, it was too late and the game was going to end soon (plus I think the kitchen might've been closed). There was always a slow turnaround when we asked for another round of drinks, boxes for our food, and the check.
The food was good though - like any normal bar food/sandwiches. Nothing too outstanding. But I likely won't be back. There are other places we can watch the game.Helpful 6Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
