I'd come back in a heartbeat!
To my surprise this hotel is located near everything...everything is in walking distance.
There's a Walmart nearby ...Chick-fil-A nearby and other shopping and eateries. In my opinion it's in a perfect location.
My only side eye... paying for parking and in my opinion parking should be free especially if the lot is not being watched by security or gate controlled. That's $10 a night.
The hotel staff was super friendly. The breakfast stations aren't as widely spread as most Embassy Suites but it still contained everything that you expected in an Embassy Suites.
The manager's reception which was pretty much unlimited drinks with snacks was a popular attraction. I saw people taking drinks up to the room and coming back down to get more drinks so they definitely took advantage of those two hours of free drinks.
The pool area is pretty small but nothing to complain about.
The fitness area is just before you get to the indoor pool area. It's a nice size room with all the essentials there. The hotel even has a rental car agency on site ... cool!
The hotel room was just enough space for 3 people while the decor is a bit dated it served its purposes and the beds were comfy.
The front desk clerk was super kind and upgraded our room just because. I didn't see a floor deemed as a premium suite but it's cool. All Embassy Suites are not created equal.
I would definitely choose this place again and again. I want to say Tysons Corners Mall is in walking distance also.
There's a metro station minutes away too.
The pricing is totally affordable. A great stay!

To be clear, I really do not enjoy staying at hotels but I also enjoy traveling...so it's a necessary evil. I must say, compared to other hotels I've stayed at, this one is pretty damn good. Literally a 3 minute walk to the Spring Hill Metro which will take you anywhere in D.C. Way cheaper than trying to find parking all day or taking a Lyft. Also, this hotel is located to tons of restaurants & shopping which is nice if you plan on staying a few days.
The room was relatively clean (the bathroom could've used a better scrubbing, however). The free breakfast is a huge bonus. Omelet station??? Yes, please! They even had an option for egg whites which I loved. They'll also cook you eggs any way you'd like. Bonus: the coffee did not taste like burnt plastic which seems to be a trend at all hotel chains. So, woohoo to Embassy Suites for the normal coffee!
They have an evening reception (free drinks & snacks) but I missed it each night because D.C. is a bit more exciting than that ;)
I would definitely stay here again, and I will rarely say that about any hotel.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Tom B.Northwest Washington, Washington, DC0104241May 20, 2018
Stayed here for two nights 5/18 & 5/19 and renovations still in process on the first floor area. The hotel still has just one operating elevator. I knew all of this from previous Yelp reviews and wouldn't have stayed here, but family members made the final decision to make the reservation.
The biggest issue was parking. You enter the parking lot area by retrieving a ticket at the automatic gate. The $10 fee for daily parking is fine, but I ended up paying $17 to exit Saturday morning because no one mentioned the need to swipe the room key card upon exit instead of inserting the ticket received at entry. So beware! I wasn't the only one this happened to. The front desk did credit my bill $10 due to this issue.
My room was on the second floor. Room was nice and clean. Bathroom fully stocked with the regular items: plenty of linens, bath soaps, etc. Nothing too fancy about the room. I noticed the temperature control had more effect on the living/television area than in the bedroom which felt stuffy at times. Renovation noise started around 7AM on Saturday morning (didn't notice any renovation noise on Sunday). Sleep time was cut short for those folks especially on the lower floors of the hotel utilizing the pull out sofa beds in their rooms. The bedroom was also subject to noise from the cooling/heating systems outside the window and from guests above on the third floor. Certainly a noise issue here and not a relaxing environment. The only advantage of staying on the second floor was easy use of the stairs once the locations were discovered.
The breakfast line on Saturday was busy as usual and the food was decent. The evening managers reception was just ok. Don't expect to skip dinner by filling up on the food served. Drinks were excellent especially since you can get pretty much whatever you want. The food consisted of raw veggies, goldfish crackers, tortilla chips along with salsa and ranch dressing. Gone are the days of good appetizer style foods. The quality of the reception food has gone down hill over the years. Room rates increase while the amenities have decreased.
Unlike many other Embassy Suites, this particular hotel doesn't limit guests to two drinks at the managers reception and to just one visit to the hot breakfast bar. However, I suspect this will soon change as more and more locations provide guests at check-in with tickets to enter the breakfast and managers reception lines.
I doubt I would ever stay here again. If you set expectations low then staying here is fine. The hotel is within a short walk to the Spring Hill Metro Station.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Juanita P.Falls Church, VA39125452Jul 22, 2017
First off, the hotel is a bit older and its evident from its dated decor. There are only two elevators and it was somewhat inconvenient to have to wait such a long time to move between floors (5 inch heels are not meant for taking 7 flights of stairs).
In addition, the employees (handymen, maids and doormen) seemed to be using the same elevator to go about their jobs thus causing an even longer wait. It was quite frustrating squeezing yourself in a corner of an already small elevator so that the doormen could push in large roll away carts.
On the flip side, there was ample parking (at a cost), good breakfast spread and a wine and dinw reception. I was also pleasantly surprised when I got an actual "Suite" at this hotel. Many other brands tend to use the word for simply a studio room. It was spacious and provided me with a separate space to work and sleep.
If management does some upgrades, I'll certainly return.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Serg P.Austin, TX1311329Sep 29, 2019
The (lazy) front desk clerk refused to issue a receipt for the overpriced items I bought from their hotel store. Would not even tell me the total he charged to my card. He was doing absolutely nothing else at 10pm on a Sun night! I'll never stay here again on my business trips to Tysons Corner!
When a business charges a credit card, I'm pretty sure the clerk is obligated to provide a receipt when the customer requests one--even if you're working the Sunday night shift like a sloth. The customer service and hotel management here shows that Embassy Suites Tysons could not care less about its customers and cannot be bothered to provide any level of decent service.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - JaredandJoanna G.Chantilly, VA031May 16, 2018
Two quick things to keep in mind when staying here:
1) Beware of the most incredibly rude breakfast staff. Especially the woman who prepares the omelettes. (I think her name starts with an L) She told my wife and children off after they asked if they could have an omelette at 9:29 because breakfast ends at 9:30. All she had to say was that they were closing but instead asked my wife if she knows how to read a clock. Other guests defended my wife, even they knew that the lady was out of line.
2) If you use their shuttle service, tell the driver what time you'd like to be picked up. We went to the Tysons Corner mall and called the front desk FOUR times. They answer the phone every time by saying "please hold", and then they wait for you to hang up. I literally had to beat him to the punch and say I NEED A RIDE BACK TO THE HOTEL!.
Great hotel, really bad service.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Nov 12, 2013
Dim. Turned on all the lights, room still kinda dim. Any room that looks onto a huge atrium is dark inside I guess. I don't know why the dimness made such an impression on me. Oh and grrrrr, this hotel charges for wifi unless you're platinum elite or whatever. But daily free alcohol and great free breakfasts may be enough to get you past the darkness and costly wifi.
This 8-story Embassy Suites has narrow but deep two-room suites. Mine was plenty nice, with two televisions, a dorm-size fridge and microwave plus a tiny bar sink, a very generous sitting area and a delightful king-size bed. Also a small work desk plus a good desk chair.
Of course we succumbed to the siren call of the free drinks in the atrium bar in the evening, how can you say no? Killian's Red on tap was a decent choice but a basic gin & tonic was short and weak. Still we gladly and gratefully accepted the libations and snacks, it was a nice way to figure out what's for dinner - while yelping of course :)
This place goes all out for breakfast, seriously I think this is the best free breakfast of any per diem hotel. The grill chef will make you an omelette per your innermost eggiest needs LOL. Includes the usual juices, (mediocre) coffee, oatmeal, cereal, breads, bacon, sausage, hash browns etc etc.
Feeling green? You can opt out of daily housekeeping here, they bribe you with a $5 coupon that you can use in the bar or restaurant. "Green choices green rewards" they call it. Never saw that before, basically it means you don't get fresh towels nor your bed made.
Surroundings are ugly NoVa sprawl including car dealers, big box stores, massive traffic on Leesburg Pike and the new metro flyover. Walk to the ruth chris steak house next door, or if you're really brave (and cheap :) cross over to the golden arches across Leesburg Pike. Maybe the nicest thing to say is that this hotel's extremely convenient to the Dulles Toll Road and leave it at that.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - X X.Washington, DC0329Apr 29, 2020Updated review
It was horrible. Nobody would do their at the front desk. We had to ask them to do their job. Not volunteer to do anything. . Just talk and gossip. The employees would only eat food. And take breaks. The bell up . Was the same way. We went to the restaurant . For complimentary breakfast. The same problems. Management would not return telephone calls. The room was dirty. Not any toilet paper in the bathroom. Dirty towels. Employees would eat food while wait on people.
We checked out early. After one night. Time to leave.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0Oct 11, 2016Previous reviewThe service was bad. At the front desk. They not want to do anything for customers. Just talk to another. And walk away from customers in the middle of wait on us. Not finished talking to them. We had to ask them on a regular basis. To come back and finish the job. The rooms were nice. Though maid service was late in the day. And they slow to clean the rooms. The location was nice. It was the only thing we liked about our stay. The value for the price for the room was ok.

Came into Tysons for a business meeting. Flew in from the West coast earlier this week on Tuesday night. I'm a Hilton HHonors Gold member, I didn't quite make Platinum. But my assistant for some reason booked this room via Travelocity.
Upon arriving at 6pm to the hotel, I was "greeted" by two guys at the front desk. Totally unwelcoming guys. They efficiently ran through the task of checking me in, but talked to me like they really didn't care about any hotel guests. The main guy helping me input my Hilton number, but derisively informed me that I booked via Expedia (which I assume owns Travelocity), so I would not earn any points for my stay. Fine... Who cares, I understand, this was booked via third party. But don't make me feel like a fucking idiot as I check in. At least acknowledge that I've been loyal since I do have status.
I go to my room. It's not a suite, here at this Embassy Suites. I will post pics later. So I get a non-suite room directly next to the electrical room. Maybe I'm wrong, but I guess if you book through a third party site, you get a second-class room, in a hotel property that needs some serious updating. This place is aging, and my non-suite room was musty and slightly stinky. The air conditioning fan is also very loud.
I went out to Arlington for a late dinner and drink. When I returned to the hotel at around 11pm, I stopped at the front desk asking where I could get bottled water. The guy told me there are vending machines on each floor. I ask him if he has change for a $20 bill. He gets off his computer in an agitated manner, takes my bill, looks for change, and gives up looking after 10 seconds.
He goes into a back room and comes back with 2 bottled waters, which he hands me with my bill. He tells me I got lucky and these are the last two bottles like he's doing me a favor. A lot of Hilton properties give you water bottles first thing when you're an HHonors member. Apparently this one doesn't.
Whoever trains the evening staff here has a lot of work to do. I've gotten better treatment and accommodations at crappy Comfort Inns in little towns across the U.S.
How this place gets so many positive reviews on Yelp is a mystery. Are people simply getting over with free wine at happy hour, along with free breakfasts?
There are PLENTY of other good hotel choices in the DC area. Rooms cost a lot on average in DC. You can and absolutely should be picky when staying in the DC area. You can spend just a bit more and stay in a well-done hotel, with service staff who actually care.Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - Onji S.Woods Hole, Falmouth, MA1011258Nov 8, 2014
GREAT GROUPON DEAL!
My bf and I stayed here for a little getaway. We didn't want to pay a ridiculous price to stay in DC and this was close enough to friends who lived outside of town. The Groupon we bought was $103 (including tax) that gave us a 2 room suite with free parking and wifi.
Parking ($7/day): you are supposed to pay for parking however the gate is wide open around check out (12pm). I suggest you don't tell them you have a car-they'll never know. *shrug*
Wifi: the wifi works fine but I'm glad we didn't pay extra. We brought our Chromecast to watch movies but it couldn't connect to the Internet. Glad we didn't pay for it.
Managers reception: Nice evening reception with drinks not fancy drinks or made with good alcohol-but free drinks nonetheless.
Breakfast: Large variety of choices from cereal to omelettes.
Overall we really enjoyed our stay and would stay again IF we got another groupon. I think the prices without it are a bit high without it.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0
