After this experience, I've decided it's hard to find a good tailor in NYC.
The workmanship was OK, and Nick is very nice, but their hours and attention to detail were lacking.
I recently started a job that requires me to wear a tie and dress like a grown-up. I brought a Zegna suit (found at Loehman's for 85% off) taken in, matching pants hemmed (no cuff), and a second pair hemmed and taken in. It took a week, not so bad, BUT:
      1. One of the pants was not taken in.
      2. One of the pants was hemmed too long.

So I left the items and came back at the end of the week.

      Round 2:
      1. The pants that were too long were now high-water pants that showed my socks when standing! He took the pants, and while I waited, re-hemmed the hem. The weird thing is they don't cut the fabric, and when they press the bottom of the slacks, you can see the 4 inch cuff line. I felt a little ripped off considering it only took 10 minutes to redo his 2nd mistake. By my calculation, I was paying $120/hr for them to hem my pants.
I like when people do the job right the first time, but c'mon, at least come correct on the 2nd go-round!

Bottom line: So the suit now fits better/well, but make sure you try everything on. Prices are on the high end, but to be expected when tailoring fine clothes. I'm sticking to my neighborhood dry-cleaner for hems and such. Complicated alterations? Well, I guess you'd have to take to someone like Eleganza. They're also closed Saturdays and only open till 6pm on weekdays, so it's tough to find time to drop off and pick-up.

Um, shoddy work and super rude. I brought in a bridesmaid dress that I needed shortened and a strap taken in... I was shocked at the prices, but figured he had good enough reviews I'd go with it. When I went to pick up my dress, the hem stitching was uneven and the strap alteration left, loose, uneven stitches visible on the outside of the dress.

When I pointed this out to the person at the counter, he suddenly didn't speak any english, but did feel comfy enough to try unzipping my dress without my permission.

I finally managed to speak to someone in english who was defensive and short with me when I pointed out the stitching. Honestly, I could have done the same job after three glasses of wine, but decided to give the guy a shot to fix it.

In short, I'll never be back. Forty-five dollars for an uneven hem and twenty for a hack job on the strap.

Had a bridesmaid dress done here. Had to go back twice. Didn't fit right after fitting second time, but didn't have time before wedding next day to fix it. Not impressed. Not worth it. Not a lot of care.

Please take my advice and DO NOT take your dress here! My very beautiful dress that was slightly too long, was tailored to "the way I asked" 3' shorter in the back then the front.

Wonderful tailor, with great prices. His finishing and quality is impeccable. He will tailor anything anything the sun. He's REALLY nice and all the mainstream and high fashion stores in the 5th Avenue to Lexington area send customers to him if they need any alterations etc., which is a good sign I suppose. I was recommended here by the Zara store on Lexington and 59th Street.

I've been to this tailor twice. Each time, the proprietor acted as though he was in a rush to get me out the door. This was true even the second time when the pants he hemmed were shorter than we discussed and the arms on the suit jacket were obviously way too short. I will have to take them to another tailor to have them redone -- will not trust this guy again. The kicker -- rushing me out the door, he shoved the bill at me and said, "Just sign." At the prices he charges, I expect better customer service. I will not be coming back.

Bad experiences. Recommended by a friend who helps me pick out suits at Barneys. I believe the less alteration that gets done the better. Had to come back 3 times so far (huge inconvenience), and my jacket feels worse than it was when I brought it in first time.
