El Nopal is our favorite Mexican place in Polk County, even with the new places that have opened in the past year in Rockmart. Our "go-to" is the chicken soft tacos - they are perfect every time. The chicken is stewed with onions and peppers and full of flavor and juicy. I can't eat onions, so I get mine w/o any peppers and onions in them, and my husband gets his with the veggies - they are great either way.
My husband and I both hate cilantro and love the salsa because there is no taste of it at all, and it's not too spicy, either.
Other favorites include the El Nopal Special and the cheese and bean dip for me, and the Enchilada Ranchero for him.
The service is usually good and if you like to eat outside, they have a nice patio area, too.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - D B.Cartersville, GA02Jul 20, 2023
My wife and I have eaten here for the past 4 years being fairly new to Cedartown. Tonight, when my plate was served, there was a complete winged wasp in the guacamole salad. The waitress saw it , took my plate ,and apologized very professionally. Then, the manager came to the table and said it was a small overcooked pepper? I said "I'm sorry you are mistaken, it was an insect. "He continued to say no , it was a black pepper piece. I would have excused the incident because it happens sometimes ,but the manager basically said I was wrong and it was an acceptable meal. I told them I would not eat the meal nor would pay for it. I hadn't even tasted the plate yet.
The manager should have just served another plate and not pitched a sad excuse of a fairy tale story. Never will return.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Marcia W.San Antonio, TX566May 10, 2023
Very good food, good chips and salsa. Friendly employees, always try to make an effort to make you feel comfortable. Nice clean restaurant, plenty of room for a Lot of People.

COVID-19 Review
This is so contrary to my usual way of doing things. We chose this restaurant because it looked like rain and the patio had an overhang. During the pandemic we don't eat inside ... and to tell you the truth, when I saw patrons coming and going with none wearing masks, I was glad to be outdoors. (Science, people!)
The staff is compliant -- all wore masks -- and I noticed that people inside were spaced out.
As far as the food: three stars, maybe two-and-a-half. We ordered Fajitas Nopal (carnitas, chorizo, shrimp, chicken, steak) for two. Certainly enough to feed the three of us with leftovers, but the food was dry, not particularly distinct, and come to think of it, I didn't see any chorizo.
Frozen margaritas tasted like what my friend makes on his do-it-yourself machine, with the consistency of a snowcone. When the ice crystals melted, the drink improved.
For what it's worth, business appears to be good, appealing to local clientele. Which just goes to show, 'to each his own.'Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - Lori M.Jacksonville, FL010Sep 14, 2023
Food is delicious. Service was great most of the time but a bit slow during "non-peak" times.

Good food - my two sons' favorite is the El Nopal Special. It's a little pricey, but hits the spot every time!

This is your typical text mix. If you're looking for a Mexican restaurant, I wouldn't recommend this it's not authentic at all. It's pretty much just your plain tacos that you can make it home. Nothing wrong with the service or anything like that it's just OK. I'm still trying to find a local place that is more authentic

They are using old cooked food for orders. My wife's Bean Burrito was cold. My Shrimp fajitas were cold. The onions had already been pre cooked and were cold. My beans were cold.
The owner/manager could care less about my concerns. Why do we pay good money to these people for substandard food.
Mr. Manager... I told you I would yep it.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Jan 15, 2017Previous reviewWe have been coming here on and off for about 6 years now. We know no one anymore. The staff is second to anything that was here.
The food has no seasoning and the chips are so store bought type. The chicken fajitas are no more than onion fajitas. Where's the chicken?
They just screwed up my wife's order. It took three times to fix the problem. Never got a " I'm sorry...this is on us...kiss my butt...nothing. Well...that is exactly what the waiter got...nothing.

Good food overall, but never order a Top Shelf Margarita. It's only an expensive citrus juice without tequila for $36 a pitcher.
