El Molino is a workday lunch spot in Boston located on Broad Street, a short walk from Faneuil Hall / Aquarium / Downtown.
I've noticed El Molino during a walk several months ago, and finally was able to pay them a lunch time visit recently with a partner in consumption in tow.
With two stomachs to fill, we opted to share a Chacarero $7.75 Homemade bread, beef steak, steamed green beans, tomatoes, mayonnaise, and pebre (Chilean mild hot sauce) and one of their casseroles. Between the mashed potato topped tin and that covered with a yellow corn mixture, we picked the Pastel de Choclo $5.61 Corn pie filled with ground beef, chicken, olives, raisins, and boiled egg. Last minute, we also added an Empanada $4 Baked folded dough filled with ground beef, olives, raisins, and boiled egg, which we special requested that they cut in two for our convenience.
Both Chacarero and Empanada were available as Chicken, so in the interest of being somewhat healthy, we went with the white meat fowl option in place of beef.
El Molino is mainly a take-out spot, but we found ourselves a pair of stools by the window counter by the door, which we figured would be less bumped than the 3-4 stools set along the wall by the longer left wall of the establishment.
I can't believe we finished EVERYTHING! That Chacarero looked huge. But we did! Chacarero, good. Empanada, good. Pastel de Choclo, good. And I felt healthy eating this meal. We both enjoyed the savory sweetness of the pastel de choclo, though it would have been too rich for my dc to have consumed the entire casserole on her lonesome, but having shared it, it was great!
Four stars for lunch.

Tried their flan $3 ($3.21 after tax) from the chilled bar in the back. Unfortunately, while the flavor was pleasant, the texture didn't do it for me. I like my flan to be dense, smooth, creamy lusciousness. El Molino's version is rather solid, you could carve a shape out of it easy and it would probably stay that way in an earthquake. Perhaps there is gelatin in it? I prefer the sort which threatens to flop over if you even look at it wrong.
Maybe I'll give their rice pudding a shot; it looked rather creamy.
Two stars for the flan.
Four stars for the friendly service.

Got their last rice pudding $3 - the one without cinnamon that they make special for a regular who is allergic to cinnamon. They offered to add the spice, but I was fine without.
The portion was good, as was the flavor. But it was a bit clumpy, so I wasn't crazy about it.
Perhaps their baked milk or cake?

Sadly, it seems they have vacated their premises.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jason P.Cambridge, MA37Oct 6, 2015
I eat here about once a week. Their food is outstanding and fresh. They make everything from scratch even the bread. The chacarero is the best I've had. One of their hot sauces is extremely hot, but great in moderation. They also have a great salad with tuna and avocado that I get when I feel the need to change it up a little.
Beside the great food, the people working there are very friendly and nice.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Dawn A.Brockton, MA8038674Jan 14, 2015
I had a beef chacarero sandwich and one of their signature dishes with ground beef, egg, mashed potato and olives. Both items were delicious. the bread is homemade for the sandwich and the casserole dish was very good! I am glad to see a new choice in the Financial District. I can't wait to try more. It has been rather empty in there and I think their menu might be a bit ethnic for the crowd around here. One guy walked in and was disappointed he couldn't get a sub. I hope that it catches on.

El Molino's Chacarero is better than the ones served at Chacareo's. First, Charcarero's quality is incosistent, like when the owner isn't on site the sandwich isn't good is the joke at the office. Second, El Molino's meat is juicer and the bread are fresher. Third, El Molino puts more and 3 green beans on a sandwich. Fourth, there are three different sauces to choose from. Fifth, they aren't afraid to put some guac on the sandwich. Sixth, they don't have the strange and inconsistent sizes add on prices that Chacarero employs. Seventh, you don't have to wait in two lines and tell you order a second time and make sure they get your order correct. Finally, they count higher than to one and a half when putting peppers on the sandwich.
Do yourself a favor and try El Molino.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - K. H.Boston, MA23128205Aug 25, 2015
Amazing place!!! My boyfriend is Chilean and he said he felt like he was back home in his mother's kitchen. Super authentic and SO delicious! We recommend just about everything on the menu, but the empanadas and chacareros are the stars of the show! I cannot say enough good things about El Molino. Definitely worth a visit!

Not too sure why this place is so highly rated, got a chacarero and it was okay, first couple bites were decent and then it got kinda bland -- wouldn't really go back but it was nice to try I guess

As a devoted fan of Chacarero's I had to give this a try. While I thought it was good, I still like the original better so I'm only giving 4 stars.

A solid 4 stars for delicious chacarero sandwiches at this welcome newcomer to the financial district. The fresh bread roll was heavenly! Had the bean soup as well, which was excellent after mixing in the little container of fresh salsa that is served along with it. The place recently opened, so overlook the need for better signage and grab yourself a first rate lunch. Prices are good.
