El Campestre

For my money the best locally run Mexican restaurant in southwest Virginia. Welcoming environment, comfy booths, clean and bright. Decent service. Plenty of parking.

But come for the food--excellent range of choices, fresh and well-prepared. Ample servings especially for the price. Chips, salsa, cheese dip, all solid.

The best choripollo I have had in the upper south, period. My colleague loved the combination plate too.

Great food and friendly staff and owners. I traveled out West and have eaten at many Mexican restaurants but none as good as El Campestre in the Southwest Virginia town of Chilhowie.

Bad food will not go back even if it was free. Everything tasted salty. Placed looked nice and clean on inside that's why the one star.

As long as your a local regular it's good, if your traveling just go somewhere else the owner was rude but was nice to her regulars, food was just about as good as any other Mexican place except I think they heated ours in the microwave

This is the best Mexican restaurant I've ever been to, from the price, the food and the service you will not be disappointed, everything about it seems authentic, it is my family's favorite place to eat and I hope that it will be your family's too!

Traveling north on I81, we decided to stop for gas and a meal. A short distance off the interstate, on Lee Highway, we discovered El Campestre. Clean. neat and very quick service. The food was tasty and plentiful. Perfect for a short break on a long drive.

Everything I had here on my trip was great. One of the better cheap and fast Tex mex places I have eaten in random areas. Will return when I go back for work.
