Wednesday, Dec 7 2022 my ex and I discovered this restaurant after waiting over 30 minutes at an adjacent restaurant, called "Fon Don Chon." When we arrived, we were never greeted or smiled at, completely ignored as they continued to greet other customers who came after us. We were very frustrated and disappointed. After having enough of their rude service, we came here for the first time. Immediately we were greeted and sat down. Our server was very polite and attentive. 5 stars for their service. I remember liking their "chicken enchiladas."
In regards to parking, it can be difficult to find parking if all the spaces are taken in front. The first time my ex and I got front parking, but yesterday I had to park across the street from Taco Bell.
Then on Saturday, December 16th, 2023, I decided to come back here and give it another try. I ordered their "Red Asada Burrito." It has rice and beans inside, the quantity is big, the flavor was okay, nothing special. Overall, I wouldn't order their Asada Burrito again. Maybe substitute the Asada for chicken or pork next time. Or maybe just stick to what's good, their enchiladas.
Red Asada Burrito $13.99
Horchata $3.99
Subtotal $17.98
Tax $1.84
Total $20.61Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Feb 23, 2024
Great food. I ate the chile verde and the flavors were awesome. The chips and salsa were amazing too. Salsa was fresh with a kick.
The service was exceptional. All the waiters were tentative and professional.
Kid friendly ambiance and very good service for a Saturday evening.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Feb 13, 2024
I was in the mood for some Mexican fare and let me tell you, the entrees here were giving what they needed to give.
The enchilada platter ($11.99) comes with your choice of meat (chicken for me) rice and beans. They're smothered in green sauce and topped with melted cheese. I liked that the entree also came with a side of sour cream and guacamole because sometimes you like a little something extra with your enchiladas. These were saucy, cheesy, and exactly what I was looking forward to eating.
While the enchiladas were good, do yourself a favor and spring for the El Camichin fajitas platter ($21.99). This gives you a combination of chicken, steak, plump shrimp with mixed veggies, and the house ranchero sauce. All combination platters come with refried beans, Mexican rice, guacamole, pico, and flour tortillas. The El Camichin was fire. They weren't lying about the plump shrimp because the shrimp was real plump. The platter was hearty, flavorful and a really good value.
El Camichin might be my go-to when I'm in the mood for Mexican food - the kind that comes plated with rice and refried beans.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 280180Apr 4, 2024
Stopped here because we were hangry. It was a Wednesday evening. It was pretty packed inside. Nice atmosphere. Table seating was challenging as tables are super close together. So you are basically enjoying your meal with your party and your new friends to the right and left of you. Service was fast. Not as attentive but not bad service. We got the grilled fish tacos and wet bean, rice, cheese burrito. Everything had good flavor. Just your standard Mexican cuisine. We will come back when we are hangry and in the area.

Very nice Mexican restaurant along the downtown part of Covina. They seem to serve authentic food with good portions.
We ordered the combo plates for two two tacos and for a taco and enchilada. They both came with rice and beans. The tacos were both chicken and the enchilada and taco were beef.
We both enjoyed the food. The place was not super crowded and there is parking on both sides of Citrus.
Pretty good service as well. Javier, our waiter, was nice.Helpful 8Thanks 1Love this 9Oh no 1 - Mar 10, 2024Updated review6 check-ins
Te her on the Sunday morning and they get crowded.. they have a live mariachi playing music it was really nice but a little loud because the louder he plays the louder people talk so it pretty loud inside.. the food never disappoints I love the beans here they remind me of homemade beans that your mom made pinto beans we are from New Mexico so they are what I call New Mexico beans.. I just wish you would get more. we also tried the menudo and it was good and a giant bowl with all the sides.. the chips are light and crunchy and the corn tortillas are great I think they make them there. We had Edwardo for our server he treats you like family actually they all do everyone is super nice. I ate the fish which I love I always eat that oh and the rice that comes with the fish not the traditional Spanish rice but it is so good They also have in door or outdoor seating which is nice..

Cooked perfectly and what I really liked is the sauce was on the side so if you wanted more or less it was your choice.. the rice and beans were good.
Portions are just right.. the service was outstanding prices are moderate.
The chips and salsa were good salsa not to hot as I don't like it to hot....
Not a fancy place and not very big but so worth the time to stop by.
It can get loud in here which I really didn't care for they have booths on the sides and tables in the middle at 8:10 pm on a Sunday they were full we took the last open booth before they closed at 9. They had 2 big parties of more than 10 people per party in the middle and they were loud we couldn't even hear ourselves talk.. good thing they took our order and brought out our food pretty fast.. we were out right at 9pm.
We will be back hopefully won't be to loud. - Big B.Huntington Beach, CA38188Apr 15, 2024
