El Bigotes Mexican Grill

Wonderful Gorditas de Pollo at El Bigotes. I could eat one everyday. Eating one now for breakfast that I took home last night. These are like a tamale in that it is a corn dough ball that is fried, split open and filled with chicken cheese, lettuce and cilantro. Served with a savory tamale sauce.

We also had chicken burritos which were pretty mild and the Chile Rellenos that gained some heat the closer you got to the stem where the seeds live.

Personable, engaging and entertaining staff, they carry 4-5 plates of food on their arms at a time. I think they try to outdo each other sometimes. Just tell them what you are hungry for and they will get you want you want. We had a good time with some good food.

Had a great Top Shelf Margarita and Pollo Chimichanga. Food is fresh and very good, Margarita with Hornitos Black Barrel was outstanding. Service was quick and pleasant.

Very good fajitas. The sides were good, as were the chips. Good service, and the atmosphere was good. I had a beef taco which was pretty good.

Excellent Menu, fast service at a low price. Taste good also. The fajitas whether chicken or beef is always my choice with rice and fried beans.

Closed early wish I had a chance to try it. Here at 8pm on a Monday. Their door and this site says open till 9...

Love this place! It is some of the best food in Abingdon and for a great price. I eat here often with my family and would recommend to anyone.

Stopped in this joint as a backup to other choices which were either too busy or too pricey. Typically Mexican is Mexican, when it comes to food. Quick, easy, and usually pretty satisfying.

The outside of El Bigotes is a bit "Old Fort" looking, kind of a bunker style architecture. The inside is standard with TV's playing and fiesta party decoration everywhere. Staff were not overly friendly, however there was one guy who kept standing in the corner (I'll call him "The Vulture") staring at the few tables still being served, I guess to ensure someone cleans them the second they are finished. A bit creeper-esque.

Salsa was decent, however most likely came from a jar and had a bit of ketchup flavor to it. Beer choices were light with only the regular American standards and the ever present Dos Equis and Modelo.

I ordered the Supreme Nachos, which were supposed to come with the standard pork, beef, lettuce, sour cream, etc. Of course they had a picture in the menu which probably came from Pinterest, of a mountain of chips piled high and looked magnificent. What came out of the kitchen was highly undesirable as a low lying plate of bagged chips with half beef and half pork, with a side plate of lettuce, a dollop of sour cream in the middle and a single tomato slice. I'd say avoid this place if you can, but if you are reeeeeeallly looking for a bit of Mexican flair than by all means come on in. Adios!

Got a vegetarian entree with a side of rice and beans. Really good food. I recommend checking it out.

Stopped while traveling after getting gas. It was clean but the food was not fantastic. I would keep driving next time until we found something better. Staff was nice but after we got our food no one came by except to give us our check.

Wonderful atmosphere. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. Well priced. Great place in Abingdon if you are looking for authentic Mexican. I will be back.
