I truly can't believe this was my first time visiting El Balcón de las America. I was surprised because in all honesty, it was an amazing experience. The food is exquisite. It is magnificently prepared with 100% authenticity. A true and honest representation of true Colombian cuisine.

The ambience too will surprise you. I felt transported back to vacation days in Medellin, for the sounds, the accents, the music, and the decor work in such accord that you can't help but feel like you are truly there.

The service too is impeccable. The moment you walk in they welcome you with that typical Paisa friendliness and you can't help but feel like you're back in La tierrita.

But the star of the show is the food. I ordered La Bandeja Paisa and was immediately reminded of all those great experiences I've enjoyed in Colombia.

This was my first time there, but it will certainly not be my last. I highly recommend it.

I've never been to El balcon de las americas in Margate and have only visited the Pembroke Pines location so I was excited! It was a great little location that felt home-y inside! It was a Saturday night and it turns out they have live music on the patio every Saturday which was an unexpected surprise as well.
I also never ordered the Bandeja Paisa before and after seeing it every-time I go I finally took the dive to do it. I was surprised by how quickly from when I placed the order to when my food was served. The "paisa" platter has white rice, red beans on the side, flat steak, plantains, pork belly, arepa, avocado and a fried egg, and sausage. I loved how delicious the flat steak was! It was cooked perfectly and so thin you can break it apart without a knife. The red beans were also extremely flavorful and complemented the meal very well. The pork belly was also a big hit because it was cooked well and really included a huge piece!
I cannot wait to go back because of how delicious the food is here! It's cooked to order, always fresh, and everything on the menu is delicious to the point it's hard to choose what to get next. It also has an awesome breakfast menu so if you want breakfast, El Balcon is definitely a great option. I will say, that the platter is very large so you better bring an appetite if you think you can eat the entire thing in one sitting!

I found this restaurant when searching for a good breakfast spot. I'm so happy I found them! I will definitely return in the future! First off we were greeted with a big smile as soon as we entered! Our waiter was extremely friendly and was quick with our fresh coffees! The food deserves a 5 out of 5 on its own...delicious and authentic! You can tell they put they're heart and soul into the food! They were out of our way to come to but I would drive an hour if I can come back! I'm looking forward to the next trip when I can try their dinner menu!!!!

Drove from Boynton Beach to Margate for a family day with my parents. We were looking for a new place to try. The Balcón de las Americas came up. It's a Colombian restaurant. Mind you, it's early morning so this is the first meal of the day and it better be good because my tummy doesn't forgive or forget. The restaurant is conveniently located on 441 (St Rd 7) just north of Coconut Creek Prkway on the West side. There's plenty of parking. We went in and they gave us a very warm welcome! They were very kid friendly as well. I have two very social kids by the way. They talk a lot :)

Service was great! Friendly staff, checking up on you every so often. I ordered the Asado (steak) with huevos pericos (scrambled eggs with onions, peppers and tomatoes) and an arepa, a classic Colombian cake if you will, really delicious, I asked for mine made of out corn (choclo). I usually get my steak medium well but this one was well done, but not way overdone. It was actually pretty good. Their aji/picante or home made hot salsa is pretty tasty, enough of a sting but not to the point of discomfort where you no longer taste and start drooling. The cafe con leche was nice and strong but still had a good mixture of coffee and milk. I like the environment as well, pretty friendly, salsa playing in the background, families all around with smiley faces so it must mean that the food is good and they have happy bellies. The price is fair. Came to about $70 for 5 breakfast platters, 3 adults and 2 kids. All things considered, i give this place a 5 Star rating. If you're in the Margate area, check them out!

Really small portion. I ordered the hígado encebollado and the portion was super small. I paid 20 usd for mostly rice and beans. It was so small that I fried two eggs at home to complete de lunch

Found restaurant on yelp. Visiting from California and family wanted to try out Columbian dishes . Read prior Yelp reviews and made my decision to visit this restaurant. We order the, Bandeja paisa that was great because it has the crunchy pork belly ,some steak, sausage, rice, avocado ,beans, fried plantain and one arepa. The food tasted fresh. Pork belly was crispy and crunchy . Steak and sausage were great.

The server Fabian was very nice. He recommended several dishes to us so that we could try. We took his advice on all dishes and my family was pleased.

The ambiance was calm and the music was nice to listen to as we waited for our food. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone looking to try Colombian food.

The 4 stars were because the food was good, portions were large, and prices okay. However, there were a number of minor problems -- it took quite awhile to order, there was a bit of a language problem (we speak Spanish luckily), the kitchen was very very slow, other people got their food way before us, and they never checked on us or came to take our payment so we got up to pay at the counter (after they'd collected at the table two other people's checks and credit cards).

We came here for lunch. When we got inside only a few tables were occupied. I was surprised how many people came to eat a late lunch after us.

One server could not easily tell us the daily special in English , but I read it (in Spanish) on the piece of paper he'd had in his pocket and understood it. They have a large menu including sandwiches and special soups.

My husband ordered their arroz con pollo. It came looking like mofongo - - a large mountain of yellow rice mixed together with pieces of chicken and veggies. It was served with some salad and French fries on the side. The portion was huge and he wound up taking half home. It was good, although the chicken was a tad dry. It would have benefited from some kind of sauce.

I order their grilled trout. I requested salad instead of rice. It also came with "green plantains" (their wording for tostones) on the side. The trout was very good as was the salad. The tostones were crunchy.

This isn't fast food by any means, but if you have the time and the patience, you'll get a good Latin lunch here.

This is not a Fast Food Restaurant by any sense... your patience will however, be rewarded with some good authentic Colombian dishes.
I had the Arroz con Pollo with salad and fries. Lots of tender chunks of chicken throughout my planter sized mound of flavorful yellow rice. There was enough for three meals!

      Updated review

Hate to leave a bad review for this restaurant but I ordered 12 empanadas and they were over fried and didn't seem fresh at all . I didn't check before I left because they are usually good but really what we got it wasn't good . This empanadas taste like they were not fresh at all ,land were very hard . I Tried to eat one and couldn't .
My advice if you are picking something to go check your food before you leave the restaurant.
I do can say everyone still as friendly as always .
