Best Mexican food I've tried in Carbondale so far! I've tried Tequila's and Sergio's. Not as good at all.
Service was excellent! Food came out super fast and waiters were attentive.
The place could use better decor (painted bricks on flat wall and dirty bathrooms), but it is probably as authentic as you can get with Mexican food around here.
The chips were hot when they came out and the salsa was great and chunky. I order the El Bajio burrito. Yummy! The shredded beef was very flavorful and the portion was big. I loved the rice! Finished it all.
Found another regular place to eat at in this small town.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Emily R.West Frankfort, IL237Mar 8, 2012
It sucks that the reviews on here are so dismal, but it's my favorite Mexican place in Southern Illinois (with the exception of Don Luna in West Frankfort, and maybe Arturo's in Carterville).
The staff is friendly, the salsa and chips are good.
The chimichanga is delicious, and so are the burritos. I haven't tried any of the other stuff even though I've been there probably a hundred times over the past decade.
Definitely give it a chance.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - sports s.Aurora, CO12436Sep 9, 2011First to Review
The food is pretty good though the ground beef they use in there tacos is very bland, they need to add some spices to it. For passing through Carbondale, it will do in a pinch.

I miss the heck out of this place. No good mexican place left in Carbondale. Cheap margaritas and cheesy rice. Never get to hear that cashier say our meal cost "one million dollars" ever again. RIP
