East Bay Sound and Lighting

Scoots really does an amazing job of transforming a space with light at a great price, and the sound system we rented was perfect for our needs. However, what made this experience ok instead of phenomenal was that Scoots was very late getting set up at our venue.

We used Scoots for sound and lighting at our wedding in San Jose. Scoots had scheduled to set up on Friday afternoon after most of the big rentals were in place, but he did not start setting up the poles for the lighting until Saturday evening, and he only began stringing lights and setting up the sound system in earnest on Sunday morning, the morning of our wedding. As a result, Scoots was setting up the lights until the very last minute. Members of my family had to work very hard (breaking a sweat in their nice clothes) alongside Scoots to get the sound system set up in time, and Scoots was often not at the sound board when we needed him throughout the evening.

We were really surprised by Scoots' lateness because in the months leading up to our wedding, he was one of the most professional vendors we dealt with. We learned from Scoots that the reason he was late was that he took on a last-minute job in San Francisco just prior to our event.

Scoots is really a great artist and technician with his lights, and one of the most friendly and calming vendors you could deal with. However, to make sure that his clients get the level of service they expect from him, I would suggest that Scoots think twice before taking on last-minute contracts or else have associates on call who can help him set up and run events smoothly.

Scoots simply ruined my wedding entertainment part. Not only he acknowledged the night before that he is double booked and will try his best to show up on time, he lost the playlist !
Lights were placed in a few spots only and did not make an expected effect in the evening.
His attire was not appropriate for my formal wedding either.

Rather than playing smooth background music Scoots was playing Zoomba tunes while guests sat down to enjoy food. In the middle of the evening I, the bride , ended up connecting my iPhone with YouTube playlist to speakers.

Horrible experience.

East Bay Sound & Lighting helped us with our vision for our daughter's quince. We had around 300 guests. This was our 1st event and Scoots made it so easy. Our theme was based off Tinkerbell's Pixie Hollow. We wanted to have each season and I thought no one would understand what we wanted...well Scoots did!...and not only that but he gave recommendations and ideas down to identifying what each season could represent which was exactly what we envisioned.

We had 4 sections set-up for each season, Winter had Tiffany blue uplighting with snowflakes projected on the wall, Spring had uplighting in fuschia with flowers projected on the wall, Summer had lavender uplighting with the sun projected on the wall, & Fall had jalapeño orange uplighting with fall leaves projected on the wall. It was so beautiful!! I cried during the toast because of all the beautiful people and lighting, it was a magical moment. lol As a mother I dreamed of this day for 15 years and it came out just as my daughter wanted.

Scoots also provided lighting for the band, dance floor, and our dj which was fun, very upbeat, and he played all the right music for our guests which was a great mix of people and ages. I wanted gift table lighting and cake lighting and that was the real icing on the cake for our colorful & whimsical theme.

I also requested a monogram of my daughter's name on the floor which came out beautiful & Scoots provided several choices to pick from. Even during the event I had noticed the monogram wasn't showing thru the light wood floor & without me even mentioning it I came back into the ballroom and seen it on the wall which looked even more marvelous than having it on the wood floor. That attention to detail is amazing! Scoots did a fantastic job making our vision come to life. I would highly recommend them for all your lighting, sound, and dj needs. Fantastic job! We will use them again for our next event.

I had scheduled a appointment to meet with Scoots at our venue about a month ago to get his recommendations and to make sure whatever he quoted us for our wedding was what we needed. Today was our meeting/appointment and he completely let us down. Our meeting was for today at our venue.

On Wednesday of this week he called me asking if we could move our appointment from 11am to 10am instead because he had a quite a few events the day of our appointment due to the Superbowl. No problem, I switched the appointment to 10am.

Today, the day of our appointment at 10am, I get a phone call from Scoots saying that he had a event last night that lasted later than he expected and that he would be running late today and that he would meet us at 11am. Ok, no problem, so we waited. 11:15am comes around and still no Scoots. I give him a call and then he tells me he is still running late and will not be at the venue until 30-45min later (so more around 12pm). I asked if he is even on his way and he said he would be in a little bit (he was not even on his way).

Ultimately in the end, my fiance and I decided to go ahead and just cancel the appointment altogether and now are on the search for another company. We didn't understand why Scoots did not just re schedule with us or let us know from the beginning that he would he was expecting to be 2 hours late. Up until today, he was very professional and very responsive whenever I contacted him before, but I guess he was too busy for us.

Scoots and East Bay Sound and Lighting are amazing! I had contacted them about a sound system for our school carnival, and Scoots was quick to get back to me and work with me on our fixed budget. They were amazing! Service was beyond what I was expecting, and many of the families at the carnival asked where we got the awesome DJ! Thank you for supporting the local community!

I would highly recommend Scoots. He recently did the lighting at our event. He went above and beyond in providing great service. I couldn't believe that this level of service could exist...I am a customer for life...thanks Scoots for making our event special!!

One word: PRO. Scoots put in the time before the event to solidify the event production. The night of the gala, the ambiance was on lock and the programming went smoothly. Five stars not only for the production level but for the ability to work with a whole team.

Used East Bay S&L for my 60th birthday party for both sound and lights. All gear was top notch and owner, Scoots, stayed to expertly run sound for a 4 piece rock ensemble. They transformed the drab community center into a dream and I didn't have to worry about a thing, which is what you want at a party. Price was also the best out there for a sound and lighting package. Very professional and dependable!

Just like the other reviewer I was flaked upon. He did not show up and left us hanging. Waited around and even called but nothing.
