This is one of my absolute favorite gyms I have ever been too. The group fitness classes are efficient, motivating and worth it!! Although the gym is pricey per month, the indoor parking at the gym level, spotless locker rooms and equipment area are worth the price. The instructors are well rounded and I have met amazing people here! The sauna is very useful, along with being able to have massages done as well. What you pay for is what you get, love it!

My favorite classes, that are a must to, are KJ's bootcamp classes on Wednesday nights and Saturday morning. Townhall sponsors the class on Saturday mornings and many people go to brunch after. As a newcomer to downtown Cleveland, I met so many new friends through this particular class. I also recommend the hot yoga classes and HIT core class as well.

I highly recommend joining this gym, not only to better yourself physically, but to meet people as well.

I wish that I could give this fitness club 0 stars but that is unfortunately not an option.

I'm extremely disappointed by this gym. I have been a member for two and a half years now, and things have only gotten worse there, despite emails from management claiming they are address issues.

There are rarely towels in the men's locker room. Most of the lockers do not lock, or are always locked (even when no one is in the gym). This has been an ongoing problem for at least 6 months, with more lockers just getting broken over that time. The showers are disgusting. You can see build up in them, there are frequently bugs in them, and there is rarely soap to use. On multiple instances, both in the morning, and the evening, there has been no hot water! The ceiling leaks in both the men's room, and on the main fitness area, but there's generally a bucket there to catch it. There are several TV's mounted on the wall through the gym. But you won't be able to watch them, because they are never on!

The management charges a $30 "enhancement fee" every year, but things just keep getting worse. They just keep spending money on stupid things like IV therapy and cosmetic procedures instead of focusing on the gym itself.

When you try to cancel the membership, they require 30 day notice, just to scam you out of one extra payment.

For the monthly price of this gym, there are many other options in the area for the same price or even cheaper.

Worked out here during my stay in Cleveland. It's a very nice fitness club With locker rooms and nice modern equipment. This club has every piece of equipment you could possibly need and studio rooms. Again very modern and clean. The front desk staff are very friendly if you stay at the Aloft you get to use this place complimentary.

Nice gym. Never really busy. Friendly front desk staff. Free parking in an attached garage - no need to walk outside to get to the gym and always spots available. I also liked that you could join online, however the absence of a free trial period was slightly off setting ($18 gust pass).

They have a multi-station cable tower and even though there are only two squat racks and two flat benches, I only end up waiting for what I want maybe twice a month if that. There's a good selection of plate loaded and selectorized machines. The machines are Hoist brand though so you're entire body gets into the movement when doing something as simple as a bicep curl. I found this slightly annoying, but it's growing on me.

A few wish list items would be ez-curl bars (they only have build your own bars), in-between sizes on the dumbbells (e.g., 17.5), and extra 5 lb. plates for the machines. Other than that it is a great gym and I plan to stay here for awhile. They also need to lose the safety cap on the bikes. The cardio bikes here are capped at 142RPM - if you hit that the bike automatically brakes. How can I do HIIT when capped at 142?

The locker rooms are nice: steam room, large keyless lockers, towels, lotion, mouthwash, etc... Each shower has a dry room with hooks attached to it which is nice. There is good water pressure, a light in each shower, and supplied soap, shampoo and conditioner. Getting all 5 of those things to exist all at the same time however is nearly a daily point of aggravation. Just this past week there was only one shower with soap in it and that shower happened to not only be out of shampoo, but the whole shampoo dispenser was missing. And the light happened to be burned out.

      Updated review

Been going to EB for close to a year. My thoughts:

      Pro's:
Social gym - they have events at the gym periodically for members to meet each other
Members - there are a good variety of members, and almost all are nice and approachable. I've met a handful of people at the gym that I see constantly. Lots of young professionals
New equipment - the equipment is nice and is in relatively decent shape
Free weights - dumbbells go up to 115 (only one set of higher weights though)
Classes - tons of classes are offered from yoga to spinning. Saturday workouts are popular and you get $10 to go to townhall afterwards
High end services - although I haven't used them, services like tanning, Botox, IV bags, etc... are offered (some at incremental charges)
Trainers/Staff - not only are the trainers knowledgeable, but they're also super nice (meet KJ if you join)
Parking - they offer validated parking if you drive to the gym

      Cons:
Hours - the hours during the week are ok (close at 9/10 PM depending on the day) but on the weekends they close at 5
Weights - the weights are NEVER put away. Part of this falls on the members with not caring about putting weights away, but the staff will make an attempt for 5 minutes at closing time and then give up. This results in mismatched between the racks and benches (they have rubberized ones that you can drop and also iron weights) and you always have to be searching for weights
Price - you'll pay $65 per month ($70.20 with tax), which to me, is on the high side. Other gyms in the area (Tremont athletic club and Titans) are priced similarly. NOTE: in January you get charged an additional $35 for the month for some kind of "upgrade fee" - although I've never seen upgrades.
Equipment - this is getting nitpicky, but the equipment that they have is the hoist brand. If you're not familiar, this is equipment that moves when you do a motion. It's designed, to my knowledge, to be more ergonomic, but for some people it may not be desirable (for some it may be great too)
Guest passes - guest passes are $18 per day, so if you want to bring a friend, then they'll have to pay. Guest passes aren't normally offered for people who are interested in the gym

I'm giving EB three stars because of my personal opinion/gym preference. I would much rather go to, and pay for, a LA Fitness/LifeTime as it is more of the gym that fits my interest (better weights, more weights, not hoist equipment, basketball court, etc...). I can easily see how this would be a great gym for someone who is more of a social gym-goer/someone who likes classes. In my personal opinion, I think that EB, Tremont Athletic Club, and Titans have found an under-supplied market and are taking advantage of it. I'm holding my breath for an LA Fitness of LifeTime to open up, but I may have moved to Cleveland a few years too early.

6/10/17 - Left EB Fitness and joined Tremont Athletic Club. TAC is definitely more my speed, and you can tell that the employees here care about the place. And here's the kicker, the members do too. Definitely glad that I joined TAC as the hours, weights, and equipment are all a significant improvement (they have unique stuff here too like EB). As for the price - it's the exact same if you sign up for a year, but you can cancel without a fee if you move more than 20 miles away. Not sure how the guest passes work. EB was going through management issues for the past few months, which caused a lot of the strife/issues that members experienced. Now that I'm at TAC, I see a lot of the faces that used to be EB members like myself. One thing to note about EB - a new general manager (Dan) came onboard right as we were exiting. Super nice guy and seemed to have a member-focus. Haven't been back since we left, but hopefully it improves and I could definitely see it doing so with him at the helm.

So much fun at acroyoga last night! As a fitness instructor myself, and coming from working at gyms all through college, I can say this gym is top of the line. Clean, lots of amenities included in the membership, and amazing variety of classes. The only drawback is the price starting at $55 but this isn't far off from other gyms and this includes a lot.

      Acro air yoga!

This place has definitely got potential. I've been a member since it opened in October 2013, and I've seen a lot of progress.

I agree with most of the things that previous reviewers have mentioned.

Pros: clean (especially sauna and locker rooms), new cardio equipment and weights, lots of free class options (with membership), personable and qualified staff (some of them), hot yoga room (option for heating), TV options on most cardio machines

Cons: class schedule continuously changes (every 1-3 months), all instructors/trainers aren't awesome (some consistently start class late or aren't as organized or energetic as others), unprofessional emails (but it's a gym, so this isn't high on my list although it REALLY annoyed me at first), microphones/sound system in classrooms don't always work

A few more tweaks, and I will definitely revise my review for a higher rating.

Ah, the old bait-and-switch. After purchasing a membership here and reading all the advertisements about what classes they would offer vs. what classes they actually offer, there is a bit of deception going on here. For example, during opening month they advertised TRX, Crossfit, Aerial Yoga, Insanity, and a number of other branded/trademarked classes. A few of these classes are no longer offered as of the November group class schedule. They advertised a React trainer...no such thing. And whose bright idea was it to think that, if and when they DO have TRX, that hanging straps from a bar that is part of a barbell rack gives people room to move and actually perform TRX workouts? It doesn't work that way. I took the Tabata class and it was a joke. No motivation or energy whatsoever from the instructor.

Don't get me wrong...this place is very nice with brand new, nice equipment. But $15 for a guest pass? Who charges for guest passes anymore? Charge the damn hotel guests that price but not friends of members. Tacky.

I have a membership at the CSU Rec Center because my trainer is there. My trainer is outstanding, the classes are great (specifically the Tabata class and 158 will kick your ass hardcore), and they have a pool. All this for the bargain basement price of $40 per month. And the facility is awesome. Repeat, awesome.

Sorry, East Bank (or is it EB because of name infringement with East Bank in Chicago) but you haven't lived up to the hype in my opinion and I will be cancelling my membership. Major disappointment.

Started as a great gym with great classes, but about 6 months ago, they discontinued offering BodyPump which was a major draw for me; however, their brochure and website still list it as well as classes they don't offer and have never offered. They've also taken away other classes, weekend classes, and replaced with bootcamp (not my thing) or pay to attend classes (as if the membership isn't expensive enough already). It is really convenient as I work nearby and they have some nice amenities (locker room and private showers), but I'm not renewing at the end of the year. At this point, the only use to me is gym equipment, which I could get for $10/mo at Planet Fitness.

Additionally, it's nice that they offer soap/shampoo/conditioner/towels, but they are STRONGLY scented, and not in a nice way. I use my own stuff because I have sensitive skin anyway, but the one time I forgot and tried it, I smelled like I bathed in cheap perfume all day. That may not bother you, but not great for me.

This gym is fancy! I like that it's clean. I usually go to the body pump classes. The instructor motivates you! I like her personality. If you are in a rut and have plateaued in your fitness, try this class. It's an all body workout to make you go beyond your comfort level. The general area of the gym has new equipment.
