I waited on writing this because I wanted to leave an honest review based on experience and not first impression. One month of treatment later and here's my final verdict: this was the best dental experience of my life and worth every single penny. I am scheduled for my 6th appointment later this month to complete my treatment plan and I would absolutely come back for cleanings and any additional work if needed.
Why?
Because at Dragon Dental, I was in incredible hands the entire time. From the beginning, Dr. Tiffany Tse and the staff were communicative, compassionate, and transparent. I always felt I had someone on my side, and my dental health was of genuine concern to them.
Like many, I went into my first appointment with skepticism because of terrible experiences at other dental offices. Dragon Dental heard my concerns and put in the effort to make me comfortable; giving me full permission to express my needs at any time. They emphasized client care by explaining every procedure, announcing any incoming sensations (hot, cold, etc), taking feedback, and checking in. Even on my worst days, they were able to say, in one way or another, "It's okay, you're safe here".
In truth, dental work is expensive and it is hard to find a trustworthy dentist. But when the connection is right, the investment is a second thought and the dentist becomes a life long healthcare provider.
I am so appreciative of Dr. Tiffany, Tamisha, Fora, and Angela for taking care of me. I thank them all from the very bottom of my heart. Thank you so much, Dragon Dental!
(PS: For those who want small details-- they have payment installments for those who cannot pay full upfront, excellent/safe COVID precautions, and a beautiful, modern, clean office to top it all off. Hope this helps!)Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Justin J.Oakland, CA01Apr 18, 2024
My experience was nothing short of a disaster. It is evident that professionalism is a foreign concept to them. The receptionist, Tamisha, was not only disrespectful but also utterly incompetent. Her lack of basic customer service skills was appalling. It baffles me how someone like her even got the job. It's clear that there are no requirements whatsoever to work there, other than perhaps knowing how to breathe.
Tamisha's inability to communicate like an adult single-handedly ruined what could have been a tolerable experience. Her demeanor was so off-putting that it overshadowed any positive aspect of the business. It's astonishing how they allow such individuals to represent their establishment.
My advice to anyone considering patronizing this "business" is simple: don't. Save yourself the trouble and headache. They'll gladly take your money and offer nothing but frustration in return. Perhaps the management should consider investing in proper training for their staff or, better yet, hiring people who actually care about customer satisfaction. Until then, steer clear of this disgraceful excuse for a businessHelpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - C L.Lake Merritt, Oakland, CA013913Oct 10, 2023
I'm so glad to be a patient here. Dr. Joyce and her dental staff are detail oriented, thorough, and conscientious. They use state of the art equipment also. Every procedure is explained and carried out very professionally, even just a simple teeth cleaning. The staff are friendly and caring. The billing process is transparent. Highly recommended!

I've been going to Dragon Dental for two years now, and I have had nothing but positive experiences. I am lucky to have healthy teeth and I have a consistent care routine at home, so I haven't had to have any work out of the ordinary - but the staff is so friendly and punctual, and I've never been pressured into anything I'm not there for. I do seem to get a different dentist every time I go for a cleaning, but that doesn't really bother me.

I've been going here for years but will not return. The customer service has gotten progressively worse. During my last visit I got a root canal and they stopped midway through because they had another appointment. My root canal took 3 visits due to their "scheduling." They did not acknowledge the inconvenience or how inappropriate it is to have someone leave mid procedure because "another patient is here"
The friendly, welcoming environment has changed and I will not be returning. The parking sucks and it's really not worth it anymore.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Jul 15, 2020Previous reviewI've been coming here for ever so I'm not sure why I just decided to write a review but better late than never! As always they were friendly and quick. They basically just gave me a new mouth. Parking is not ideal but they are open on Saturdays.

My brother came in for a crown and they did it for the wrong tooth. My brother was so pissed.
Don't let them trick you in getting crowns. Dentist is supposed to preserve your tooth not offering you crowns and stuff you don't need. And so what if your tooth is a little crooked, braces and Invisalign you will need to wear a retainer for life.. they'll make money off of the retainer.
With my insurance for a night guard shouldn't charge me over $600. I got it for them twice before and it was half the price. I went else were and was charged $320.
It won't hurt to get a 2nd opinion.
Bottom line is they just want to make more money for unnecessary stuff.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Jan 15, 2023Previous reviewI've been here for 14 years. Their service keep declining over time. Money hungry place. Don't let them sucker you into braces, crown and things that not necessary. And cleaning should not feel like your gums is cut up.
And yes I got sucker into a crown when it was not necessary. I found out with the same insurance I got a better price else where and cleaning should not hurt like it does there. And the hygienist should not change all the time. And that the male dentist does have a heavy hand and left me with canker sores. Didn't have it before and never knew what it was. But I left there with there a couple of canker sores after my appointment. because mofo cut up my inside mouth. Mad ass hell. And guess what afterward the filling for that cavity... his heavy hand cause that tooth to have a root canal. Trust me... I've been with them a long time. And after seeing and been through so much with them I finally change dentist. I had enough. You should be aware. - Jason H.Santa Clara, CA12552Jan 22, 2023
Reading the negative reviews of this place i noticed a theme. This Dental practice seems to have numerous people complaining about very invasive and unnecessary procedures being recommended. I came here several years ago for a routine checkup, as a new patient, the Doctor stated that one of my rear molars was severely worn down and they strongly suggested that they drill the remaining tooth to install a crown. I really should have gotten a second opinion, but I was assured that having a crown installed was a pretty benign procedure and only had positive upside. I regrettably approved for the crown,...
Fast forward a few months later and I wake up one morning with excruciating pain from the same molar where the crown was installed. I immediately schedule an appointment to have it looked at and the dentist at the time really doesn't have any good answer as to what the issue is. She suggested that my bite was probably uneven on that side and said the only thing they could do is to adjust the crown and level out my bite. As my tooth is extremely sensitive- it took some patience and pain as i had my new crown shaved down to even my bite. I was assured that over time, the pain would go away and if it does not, they could always perform a ROOT CANAL.... At this point I was pretty upset, and my routine checkup had resulted in a very painful rear molar and the possibility of a root canal.....
At this time I decided to see another dentist and he was frankly very surprised that I was given a crown- considering the wear and tear on the rest of my teeth. Obviously, he admitted that it is impossible to know what needed to be done as he didn't see my teeth beforehand, but was admittedly surprised given both my dental records and my overall dental picture.
That initial visit was 3 years ago, the reason why I am writing this review today, is because my molar is still super sensitive to any pressure and I now am forced to favor chewing on the other side of my mouth. This has been a constant issue for the past 3 years and i have been told by my new dentist that the only option is to have a root canal done to fix the pain....
TO: DRAGON DENTAL
You really need to reevaluate your procedures - if there are so many people complaining of an over aggressive dental solutions.... Seemingly benign recommendations have lasting consequences for your patients. This toothache has really been an ongoing nagging issue that seems to forever haunt me.
TO: Potential DRAGON DENTAL Customers
Read the reviews, heed my warning. LOOK ELSEWHERE- Simple as that, there are hundreds of dental practices, you might be one of the lucky ones and DRAGON Dental may not recommend any procedures,,, but is it really worth it if there is even a chance that they want to ruin your teeth??Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - L H.Contra Costa, CA453Oct 26, 2022Updated review
I've been coming to Dragon Dental since 2010. They're wonderful. The dental work is excellent, the staff is incredibly friendly, and my insurance covers it all. The few times insurance didn't cover all of the procedures they worked with me on price and payments. Family members have also switched over and have been happy there.
Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Feb 8, 2010Previous reviewJoyce Tse, dentist extraordinaire, not only managed my dental work for $2000 less than other dentists, she was meticulous in the work. I went in for one appointment early in the morning, and knowing it was going to be a long time in the chair, she asked if I'd eaten yet. I said no, because I didn't want to be late or have food in my teeth. She said many patients do that, but she wants to be sure patients are comfortable, so she brought me two delicious fruit/energy bars to eat slowly before we started so I had something in my stomach. "Do you feel okay? Do you need more?" AND she's educated at UCSF, one of the top 10 medical centers in the country. The whole staff is friendly.

I was referred by a family member to check out dragon dental in Oakland. I really enjoyed my first time experience. Great customer service, very clean and newish clinic in downtown Oakland on franklin. They were able to accommodate my appointment with my friend's appointment on the same day. When I called on the same week of my appointment, they took my insurance info and booked me to their weekend open appointment right away. It was a very quick process.
When I got to my appointment, I filled out the new patient paperworks, then they called me in to do X-rays and gave me a tour of the clinic. I'm very impressive by how large the clinic is, it looks small on the outside but it's very big once you enter through the exam rooms. There were a lot of sanitary, cleaning and dental equipments, everything are very new and up to date. I was very impressed by how many X-ray they took for my teeth, like at every angle to examine my teeth thoroughly. My dentist Dr. Wong was very thorough with my teeth examination, and looked through my X-ray and pointed out some issues regarding my teeth. I've been through 2 dentists in the past and they never told me about my cavities or plagues before. But Dr. Wong was very positive and gave a lot of pointers to how to improve my oral health and show me various ways to brush and floss my teeth. Even changing to electronic toothbrush helps with plagues and cavities. I was very surprised how thorough the examination was. He even showed me my X-ray and consulted where the issues are with my teeth which is very nice.
The Cleaning was thorough, previously my other dentists doesn't do the cleaning but Dr. Wong did my teeth cleaning which was a nice surprise. It's usually the dentist assistant that does the cleaning for me. Then Dr. Wong's assistant brush polish my teeth after the cleaning process. I'd have to say the cleaning doesn't hurt at one, maybe when it hit a sensitive gum it does but overall really great first time experience! I highly recommend everyone to visit dragon dental. They take most insurance too.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Kim N.Houston, TX3541601318Jun 20, 2017
Look no further for a friendly and thorough dentist office. This was my first visit to this office and I absolutely loved it! I really like the location, it's on 1st floor of a nice, clean office building. Parking was very easy and the office was not hard to find at all. As soon as I walked into the office I would immediately greeted by a group of friendly front desk receptionists. I was asked to sign in and I provided them with copies of my paperwork that was emailed to me for completion ahead of time.
I waited approximately five minutes before the dental assistant greeted me and gave me a tour of their office facilities and introduced me to some of their staff. All X-rays are completed using digital technologies (no film required). I was seated in the dental chair about 10 mins before Dr. Joyce Tse arrived to examine my X-rays. She thoroughly explained what she was looking at, her concerns, and proper maintenance of my teeth. Prior to my teeth cleaning, she gave me a pair of cool goggles to put on, to prevent water from splashing onto my eyes during the procedure. She was gentle and thorough, checking on me every quad to make sure I was still good and alive. No pain whatsoever.
I left their office with a cool goody bag - check it out in my photo. They have lip balms (also in my photos) at the front for patients to take-smells good and it works! I left their office pretty happy with a plan on my next set of treatments.Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 4Oh no 0
